I had high expectations for this place because I'd heard that the guy behind it was the same guy who was behind Orana on Rundle St.
My friend and I went in the first week of it opening and after it had received a write up in local press - as a result, every man and his dog seemed to want to go there (like me!). There was a lot of people waiting but it seemed that the line was moving pretty quickly so we decided to give it a shot.
The wait to order was quite short but the wait for the food was quite long. I ordered chips and a pannini and got it much before my friend who ordered a spinach and pumpkin pasta. The chips came first. They are delicious!! We were starving but they were very good chips (why on earth can't we resist fried potato??). We polished off the chips while we waited for the pasta (even though I had my meal already, I waited).
By the time the pasta came out, my pannini was cold. My own fault - it was still tasty but I've had better. My friend was told that they'd run out of pumpkin so her pasta had ricotta cheese and spinach in it... not very exciting!
BUT the guys were super lovely and apologised profusely to everyone for the long wait. AND they gave my friend a generous "sample" (aka 3/4 of a serve) of their lasagne which looked pretty good (I'm a vegetarian otherwise I would have tucked in!).
The guys were so nice, I think I'd go there and try it again just because they were so genuinely nice and passionate about what they do. Go check it out - I'm sure it will be much better once the initial rush is over. read more
