I contacted Ray and later Samuel Poku regarding a policy issue and requested a copy or reference to the specific written policy being applied. Instead of providing the requested policy language, I was told that a separate detailed policy was not required and that the general rule applied. If a coworking space is going to issue warnings or threaten to terminate a member's access, the standards being enforced should be clearly defined and available in writing. Additionally, when a space advertises 24/7 access, using the amount of time a member spends in the workspace as a point of concern creates confusion unless there are clearly stated limits or guidelines. The back-and-forth communication took significant time away from the purpose of having a workspace. I ultimately decided the membership was not the right fit for my needs and canceled. I would expect a professional coworking space to provide clear policies, transparent communication, and consistent expectations for its members.

Surprise, surprise, come the coronavirus pandemic it turns out they are doing something similar on mass scales, keeping everyone's security deposits to pay for extra months after cancellations. Obviously its an unusual time, but its keeping in line with their existing policies. They steal whatever they think they can get. If you are considering renting office pace in the future when they reopen, remember how they treated people during an emergency, many of whom are out of work and now unreasonably forced to forego security deposits and charged for months after their cancellations. This is not a business that deserves to survive. UPDATE: Just over a year after I stopped doing business with them, I received a random email thanking me for "my payment" and saw a corresponding $700 charge on my credit card. I called them up and apparently they have some sort of error where their system has suddenly charged all their former members and (the person that I spoke to claimed) also making extra charges to current members. Before I left I had made a point of removing my credit card from their system, and the man I just spoke to on the phone said I do not have a payment method on file, but maybe there is an "archived" payment method. Well, there must be something since the charge showed up in my credit card account. So not only does this company make random charges, but they do not remove your payment methods when you ask them to. I had to cancel the card to avoid this happening again, but this place has just become the most scammy business I've ever encountered. If this error were the only time, it could be a genuine mistake, but as this is now the *third* time they've tried to scam money from me it's an obvious pattern. Like I said, they try to find any way to steal your money they can. You'll notice the only positive reviews for this company are from long ago and generally about the building itself (which is the only reason it doesn't get 0 stars, the company itself is as bad as a company can be), I think the company must have been going downhill since even before the pandemic and since then they just gave up any pretense of being a legitimate business. Avoid this company at all costs. You will regret doing business with them.

What am I going to do when traveling back to NYC and have no office to work from? Cue Workville and boy did they deliver. The location in mid-town is central to anywhere I need to travel to in NYC. Plenty of food options around and safety is paramount at Workville. Hand sanitizer is available throughout, counters are wiped down constantly, Workville residents respect mask-wearing in public areas. Most importantly, support is on hand at all times with Sue, Sabrina, and DJ. If you ask nice enough, they will even let you play your own personal Spotify playlist so you play DJ for your office mates. I love Workville not just for their office layout, nor the wrap-around outdoor deck from the 21st floor, or the free coffee... it's a vibe. A vibe that I need and crave when I visit NYC. As "Ahnuld" said it best, "I'll be back!"

This review is just for the lobby bar hospitality, since I'm a city resident. I arrived via the small Madison Square Park entrance for Clock Tower, dropped in and asked if there was a good place to order a bottle of sparkling water and take a meeting on my laptop. I was shown a series of lobby sofas, and when a space seemed too loud, another area that offered a little more quiet and a background convenient for blurring without much foot traffic in a zoom call. A credit card was taken to place the order and held until I was ready to cash out. This practice may be a bit uncomfortable for some travelers who would prefer another person not hold onto their card for an extended time, but I did not insist on another method. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, the hotel WiFi was free with the Bonvoy credentials. After settling in, a large bottle of sparkling San Pellegrino mineral water with a lovely hand blown glass and slice of lime was delivered by the server who greeted me. It was mentioned that the lounging area I was using would be reserved at 4pm, so I'd be welcome to stay until 3:30pm, which would be just as my meeting was finishing anyway. The server returned a couple more times to refill my glass during my meeting and to deliver the final bill. Total came to $18 for a large sparkling San Pellegrino ($13 bottle + NYC tax + 22% tip), WiFi, table service, a clean restroom, and a lobby that felt safe and monitored enough to step away from my property for a minute to use the restroom.

And a little reminder to fellow travelers: please tip your housekeepers -- and tip them well! They do so much behind the scenes to make your stay enjoyable, and they deserve the recognition. I couldn't find the device anywhere, so I think it was outside of my room. I suspect they were European tourists because it would only happen between like midnight and 3 AM every night. The TV also wasn't working. The staff came up and fixed the Live TV feature quickly. But I still couldn't stream anything to it from Netflix on my smartphone. A Google search returned many reviews that this is an issue across all IHG hotels though. You have to connect with a HDMI cable, as the streaming feature does not work. The location near the train station was super convenient. The major positive for this hotel is that the staff was really friendly, both at the front desk and the restaurant. They were quick to respond and attempt to fix things, plus moved me to another room once one became available as I was staying here for 5 nights. They also gave me IHG points in apology for the inconveniences. It is only because of these reasons that I will consider staying at this hotel again. In fairness, the location is excellent -- it was about a 5-minute walk to my office on Wall Street, which was incredibly convenient. The hotel also offers free WiFi, room service, and a 24-hour front desk. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, I had issues. At check-in, I was given Room 201 -- and told it was "the best room." When I got upstairs, one of the lamps had no light bulb. I needed the light, so I tried calling the front desk... only to discover the phone didn't work. I went downstairs to report it and was told they'd send an engineer. He arrived and informed me they didn't have the correct bulb for that lamp -- and that none of the phones in the building were working due to an issue with the phone line. I was moved to Room 504, which was fine. However, the next night I returned around 10pm to find there was no heat in my room. Since it was a Wednesday and the hotel was sold out, they couldn't move me. I was offered a space heater (which I declined). They then suggested I move next door to Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Wall Street, which they're connected to. I assumed it would be comparable quality -- it was not. The following day I was finally moved again, this time to a room on the 24th floor, which was fine. The rooms are small, but I'll take small and clean over poorly maintained any day. What disappointed me most was the lack of concern from the front desk. At no point did I feel that my frustration -- which I believe was justified -- was taken seriously. Multiple room changes, no working phone system, no heat... and very little empathy. The location is great. But overall, based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

When she asked a question and I didn't hear I quietly said something like "I'm sorry?" I completely swear was at no point rude to her, but for some reason she took this as a sign to be snippy and judgemental for the rest of the interaction. I am hard of hearing... to be mistreated for simply asking someone to repeat themself is both embarrassing and disheartening. :( For example, when she asked for my ID and I gave it to her she glared and me and snapped something like "are you like, uncomfortable with that for some reason?" By the end I was barely holding back tears and just told her how long it had been since I slept. "Oh.. long flight..." I mean, yeah! I just wanted the interaction over with, I was so mortified. She offered refreshments, which is nice and I would otherwise think it was because she felt bad after I told her how tired I was, but I honestly can't tell because she still managed to be snippy the whole time, even seeming to poke fun at me for declining? It was just such a confusing and embarrassing social interaction. I know we looked discombobulated and not exactly like walking sunshine and rainbows but I was never rude or deserving of mistreatment! After that I just went straight to my room and sobbed for a while. It was really disheartening that my first interaction with anyone in New York had to go like that. But this morning, the two other receptionists were kind, one joked around with us and served the last of the complementary coffee to me even though we were a couple minutes late to it. I really needed that! Thank you! Otherwise the one-night stay was normal and fine, but I can't say I will ever return if I can help it.
