This is a new discovery for me and San Clemente, it's next-door to Surfside fish and it's easy to miss so you have to know where you're going. It's a happening bar with lots of craft beer choices. I ordered Ahi tuna and shrimp too and each was only 1 skewer and cole slaw so that was a bit surprising when I got home and opened the recyclable container. Hailey is worth coming here for. She's very sweet and helpful! Next time I'll dine in and I'm sorry I forgot to take a picture of the food!

If you are in San Clemente I would 100% recommend Nomads for a lunch spot! This eclectic beachy bar and restaurant is connected to a hotel in the heart of San Clemente. The ambiance includes surf memorabilia, plenty of boards, and even a crocodile across the back wall. The service was great! Our waitress was efficient and polite. She constantly was refilling our drinks. To eat we got the cool cuke poke bowl, pork dio chile verde bowl, carne asada tacos, and the quesadilla. The stand out dish was the cool cuke bowl. it was simple and refreshing but had delicious flavor. My dad is currently on a restrictive diet and this was PERFECT for him, he even said he could eat two more bowls! I would love to come by and try some of their cocktails and appetizers!

A group of 4 stopped in on a Wednesday night. They weren't too busy so we were seated immediately. I was immediately shocked at how affordable the pricing is. I ordered a salad with grilled ahi and the creamy coconut dressing. I was very satisfied with the meal! The portions are decent but not so much food that you feel like you're stuffed. They have indoor and outdoor seating with space heaters for chilly nights. The service was very fast and attentive. Definitely a good casual spot for dinner and drinks!

The kid was visiting from college and wanted to hit some of her favorite local places and Nomads made the cut. Personally, I am not a fan from previous experiences. I just have not had something that makes me want to come back. But, the kid wanted to go, so we did (just like going to S of Nick's while she was home). It was a beautiful day in SC, as usual, so we sat out on the patio with some umbrellas to hide us from the sun. Our friendly server greeted us, gave us some menus and took our drink order. According to the receipt, her name was Cortni. Very nice and took great care of us. As I picked up the menu to pick something out, I was skeptical about finding something I would like. I tried to keep an open mind. The kid said I should try the Poke, but I have had that in the past and was just OK. Also, I do not like mango. So, the kid ordered the half and half poke. I was going back and forth on several different items and finally chose the Da-Kine Cuban. According to the menu, this is Nomad's version of the classic Cuban sandwich. Grilled Spam (instead of the traditional ham, BRILLIANT!), pork carnitas, melted Queso Blanco, Pickles, Spicy Mustard. On the side is Charro, Coco-Rice, Metate Corn Tortilla Chips. I asked for extra pickles and for some extra spicy mustard on the side. The wife chose the Asian Beef Low Carb Bowl: Spicy Srirach grilled skirt steak over cabbage, green onion, carrot, cucumber. Soy sauce, lemon juice, sesame seeds. As we enjoyed the sun and our drinks, the patio was filling up and getting a bit crowded. The servers was bustling up and down the patio keeping filled with drinks and food. All were smiling and everyone was having a good time. Some more than others.** Our meals arrived and we jumped right in, well after I took pictures of everyone's lunches for this review. The Kid: she loved her poke bowl and ate it right up. The Wife: Really enjoyed her Asian Beef and I tried some and it was pretty tasty. Very simple meal, but she liked it. Me: The Da-Kine Cuban looked good as did the sides. Interesting to have rice & beans and then tortilla chips as well, but it really worked. I was using the chips to spoon up the rice/beans mixture. It was really tasty. Now to the sandwich. What do the kids say, Da bomb? Is that right? Spam cooked perfectly, great carnitas, lots of pickles, great spicy mustard and nicely melted queso. BOOM! Wow, this was a great sandwich and something I would have again and again when we come back. Did you hear what I just said? I want to go back. To Nomads. Really! Loved it. Since I ate all of the chips and rice/beans, I only ate 1/2 of the sandwich. Luckily for me, I had the delicious sandwich the next day for lunch. YUM! Go. Eat Well. HAVE FUN!! ** having more fun than others. A group of guys were fairly obnoxious, drinking, loud and spreading their chairs on the tight patio so that it was hard for the servers and customers to move around. I heard them say they were the Tesla Boyz of Talega, but I may have misheard them. HA, HA, HA! I did get the feeling that they were regulars. Not a restaurant issue, just a clueless people issue.

    Pink Tacos
    Isai R.

I've only had the Pink Tacos, so I can't really comment on the other food, but I can confidently say they were the worst tacos I've ever had. I saw the photos of them on "taco holders," which is usually a red flag, but I was dumb enough to mindlessly take the cute waitresses suggestion. The ahi was overcooked and the dominant flavor profile is the cream they top it with. The flour tortillas felt like they were barely warmed and the whole plate was a soggy, gloppy mess. They do photograph well though. Always trust your gut and don't get duped by attractive employees.

Nomads have awesome vibes and food is delicious!! IPA on tap is fresh.. Had the fish tacos carnitas tacos and poki bowl.. Also got an order of wings well done and I have to say !! I will come back .. Go check it out Thank you Sean for the great hospitality .. see you soon

Nomads is awesome! The vibe is always great here. By far my favorite Poke Bowl I've ever had. You can stop in for a quick beer/drink or have a nice lunch on their patio. Inside has tables and bar seating as well.

Nick's hostess called me an hour before to confirm which was comforting. There is street parking which can be challenging as in any coastal community. I believe there is a close by public parking lot. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us right away. A.J. was an awesome waiter. He did not rush us and checked on us regularly and kept our water glasses full. Between the four of us we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, three fresh Mahi Mahi blackened fish sandwiches. There are many side choices. We had the very yummy crispy fries and the tomatoes with blue cheese - so good. The sandwich and side was a huge portion. I had to eat it deconstructed as it was piled high with blackened fish, coleslaw, tomato, onion rings, fresh micro greens, tartar sauce all on a fresh grilled brioche bun. The sliced prime rib French dip was a home-run. The roll was toasted yet soft. The prime rib tender and flavorful served with Au jus (good enough to eat with a spoon or sip from the bowl). AJ made sure we had plenty of ketchup and ranch for the fries and creamed horseradish for the dip sandwich. My father was given a dreamy chocolate cake and card signed by everyone to celebrate his birthday. The dreamy cake was moist filled with chocolate chips and covered it a to-die-for chocolate ganache. We had an 11:15 reservation and the large restaurant and bar was filled up by noon. There were many celebrations going on around our table. San Clemente is a great coastal town and Nick's is equally as wonderful.

They've got indoor and also great outdoor seating depending on what is available or your preference. There is also a heater installed on the patio to make the outdoor dining comfortable. However, coastal evenings can turn chilly even in summer so bring a warm jacket or sweater. This will be very helpful to make a significant difference in your comfort.

Just very very casual and not totally comfortable. Food- 3.4/4 out of 5 - I got the Luau plate and LOVED the chicken!! Everyone else was right- that chicken thigh deserves its own plate. I also really enjoyed the coconut pudding/jello thing that came with it and the sausage link. The pulled pork was just okay, not very well seasoned but not bad. The side of "dressed greens" was just some lettuce without dressing on it, and I thought the macaroni salad was fine. The last thing that really disappointed me were the sautéed veggies :/ they were just soo oily and had no seasoning to them at all. I didn't eat any of them or the un-dressed 'salad'. My husband got the chicken katsu plate, he said the chicken katsu was fine but the fries on the side were cold and not crispy, they were kind of chalky in the mouth and didn't taste fresh. Some parts were definitely a 3/5 but my chicken thigh was so good and the portions are *huge* so I feel like they deserve a 4/5? All in all, I think I'd come back if I wanted to go out with someone but save some money and we'd split one of the plates (the portions really are huge).

Immediately comforting. Felt chosen by the mug--mine was a Hersheys s'mores cup :) My date (who is aight... possibly good... TBD... also over a foot taller than me) confidently interjected when I was reviewing the menu for the nth time: "Anything with the ranchero sauce really good." This comment completely derailed my order decision-making process, but in a way that felt supportive, if not academically rigorous, maybe even data driven. So I ordered something with ranchero sauce. I asked if they had spicy tanchero sauce bc my dish came with mild ranchero sauce, our server with kind eyes asks me "you want salsas on the sides?" I heard angels singing, the clouds parted to let the sun through. I LOVE SALSAS Then he says these magical words "the salsas' spice levels kind of vary daily, depends on the day" :') THEY MAKE SALSAS IN HOUSE?!!! The food is honest. The salsa is abundant. My boyfriend and I got lucky and managed to grab a spot after driving by for a bit. I was really excited to try this place because I love small breakfast diners, and I usually go to Surfin Donuts right across the street, which has some of the best donuts. We came here on a Saturday morning around 10 AM, and the place was busy but still really cozy. There are only a couple tables inside along with some outdoor seating, but luckily we were able to get seated right away without a wait. The staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with two eggs and sausage, while my boyfriend got an omelet with a Mexican-style sauce. Overall, I liked the food, but I do think the biscuits and gravy could've been a little better. The gravy itself was delicious, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, but the biscuits felt a little too dry for my liking. I also thought the sausages were pretty dry and maybe a bit overcooked. The potatoes though were super flavorful and definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. What really stood out to me was the ambiance. The whole place feels super nostalgic and homey. They even bring out an actual paper check at the end, which made it feel like stepping back into an old-school diner from decades ago. Overall, I'd definitely come back because I loved the atmosphere so much, but next time I'd probably try something sweeter instead of going the savory route.
