They've got all the neon signs and photo lighting you could imagine and most nights there's a DJ spinning mostly early 2000's and current hip-hop and r&b music with some afrobeats mixed in. In most of my experiences they are generally well staffed to handle the larger weekend crowds and from management to the servers the staff is typically very pleasant and timely in regard to service. This is probably one of the few spots that opens until 3-4am, if you're looking for something on a late night. They also host a variety of discounted events on a given day whether it be extended happy hours from 4-10pm, free hookah Monday's, or various specials for football game nights. I definitely recommend giving them a try if you're looking for something in-between lounge and club vibes with good hookah and high energy.

Anyway, they still had some kinks to iron out such as stocking the bar upstairs and taking the price tag off the grill they bought at Home Depot. The Elroy definitely shows promise. Similar to other places on H, there are two levels and a back deck that is fenced in. There is a bar on both floors, but the first floor one is more substantial. Drinks were average priced, but came in those slanty glasses, so be forewarned that if you're not used to them, you will spill. (You'll see what I mean). Upstairs there are a few padded benches along the wall and drink tables and chairs to accomodate groups. Hopefully they've put up a curtain or something to block the direct in-your-face beams from the street light outside. The coolest thing though? When you're in the bathroom on the second floor, it's one way glass, so you can see out, but people can't see in with normal lighting conditions.

The Gold Room DC has failed just as others. When we first arrived we requested Prosecco which they did not have. When given to other alternatives to the waiters (red wine) they didn't have that either. We opted for Moet Champagne along with 2 bottled waters. Which we were given plastic champagne flutes that clearly was reused. We drank directly from the bottles instead. Later another joined our group who actually went the bar to order a Jameson and Ginger Ale. While making the drink she noticed the bar tender attempting to use Sprite in her drink of Jameson. She politely said, I asked for ginger ale. The waiter stated, " we don't have ginger ale". As we continued, later we asked for 3 additional bottled waters. Guess what? They didn't have anymore bottled water... There's a Whole, foods, Walmart, and Giant on H Street. Did I mentioned someone pointed out the owners while sitting?
