We came here for Sunday brunch with friends and ordered the Timberjack Special (all day breakfast…read moremeal) and Mojakka Meal (homemade menu). My husband and I wanted to try the Finnish staples. Overall, the food was good. The breakfast was standard and as expected. I liked the Finnish pancakes because they were soft, buttery, and the right amount of eggy. I just wished the dish was a bit more filling. My husband enjoyed his Mojakka stew -- it was hearty and comforting. The beef was tender. It wasn't the most flavourful stew, but I think the point of this stew is to be hearty and classic rather than unique / bursting with spices. Again, my only criticism would be the portion size being on the smaller side. The service was prompt and friendly.

The hostess brought our coffee right away. The server was there in a couple minutes to take our order and the food was out in five minutes. It was amazing how quickly they moved people through there without seeming like they were trying to push them out the door. And, by the way, the food was excellent. You'll want to try the Finnish pancakes.

The booth we were sat at was comfy, though it was right next to the back door which was used frequently. The service was quite good, they were very friendly and our food came out fairly quickly. For food I got the Brie and Chicken Sandwich with soup. The sandwich and soup itself was quite pricey at $18.00 without tax, but worth it. The sandwich was delightful, the Brie and chicken worked in perfect harmony to create a perfect savoury bite, while the spinach was a good background flavour and the apricot jelly was a perfect sweet addition. Pretty good size for a sandwich as well. The soup was also a delicious pairing. Overall I definitely recommend this place.

The cinnamon bun griller was a cool idea. I would try it again, perhaps they over toasted it because it was crunchy like a cookie sandwich. The eggs, toast, and coffee were great. I was not a big fan of the sausage but really enjoyed the toast which was nice and buttery and ofc the potatoes. For food, I ordered the prosciutto gouda pretzel and tomato spinach roll. If I had to choose my favourite between the two it would be the pretzel - it was very crispy and definitely the best tasting pretzel I've had. Very reasonable portions and prices coupled with freshness and great taste - this is probably the best cafe I've been to including ones in Ottawa and Toronto. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive. The staff made a wonderful impression and made the night feel special. I had a nice lemon cocktail to refresh me from the heat.My husband had an Old Fashioned. He said it was good. There was delicious complimentary bread also. We had the mozzarella and tomato salad (caprese) as our starter. It was fresh with juicy tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. As my main,I had their signature Giorg fettuccini. The pasta was the right texture and the sauce was thick and creamy, like alfredo. I was imagining a thinner sauce, but it was still good. My husband had the lamb. Wow it was definitely a generous portion and tasted amazing. I could not believe how much we ate. We had two desserts (we are about 3 bites away from a heart attack by now), the cannoli and flourless cake. Id go back there just for the flourless cake. Cannoli had a taste of baking soda, maybe it needs to be reduced in their recipe. My favourite thing about this restaurant was the music. If you have watched The Notebook, you will know what type of music in talking about. Romantic music from the 40s. I LOVED that. Overall its a great restaurant, i dont know what could be keeping people from going to this restaurant. The price puts this restaurant into a "special occasion/ fancy date" category. This type of restaurant is hard to find in Thunder Bay, and I just wish I had tried it sooner. We will definitely be back.
