    Rolls with fish sauce
    Praveen P.

I love pho and have generally been sticking to the one other place that makes it here, but today my friend and I decided we should try the pho out here. The spring rolls were good, the fish sauce was really good. They were very satisfying. The pho however was ok. The broth being what's supposed to be the show stealer was a bit of a let down. Tasting watery and lacking a lot of the umami flavour you expect from a pho broth. Maybe it was an off day, which is something I'm inclined to believe since the place was packed with regulars. The beef in the pho was good however was not medium rare. The real saving grace is the sate which the server told us was made in house by her mother. Exceptionally flavourful and is probably half the reason why I will be returning however to try the Chinese dishes they offer as they looked amazing

Great family owned restaurant with standard North American Chinese takeout menu. Instead of lunch specials, they have all day specials including Bon-Bon ribs, wontons, chicken balls, and egg rolls. Generous portions. But if you're like me, you go there cause they are the only restaurant that offers a decent amount of Vietnamese dishes in the city. They have the best Pho in all of Thunder Bay, as well as salad rolls and shrimp wrapped around sugar cane on their noodle dish, as well as Vietnamese crepes, and Chicken Udon Noodle soup.

my wife and I came here for the pho soup (Vietnamese) and it was quite good. the one anomaly is that they do not serve basil with the dish (i find this unusual). pho serving size was good for the price. we also had the salad wraps which were well made and large with a slightly spicer dip than other restaurants (but very delicious). for first time goers, i was confused by the street sign on Dawson road next to a pet shop. initially looked like the business might have moved. i however got the bright idea to call them and they explained they are next door on the side.

Very bad pho.... Lack of texture of beef balls, soup is acceptable. No basil or lime provided. Not coming back.

I come to Canton for dim sum frequently, and have been coming for more than a decade. Decor and…read moreservice is pleasant. I find the dim sum dishes very flavourful and there is a nice variety. One disappointment is the pan fried shrimp paste stuffed green peppers... because they no longer use green pepper. It was my favourite item. They use red pepper which is alright but not the same. Some favourites of mine are the deep fried fish cakes (little strips of firm fish, deep fried), calamari (very salty but I like it like that), curry beef samosa, deep fried shrimp wrap with mixed fruit salad dressing (it's mayo I think), sticky rice, steamed bean curd rolls, red bean paste cakes (flat and dry, but I like it), deep fried savoury triangles ("footballs", dough is crispy outside and gummy inside with sweet and savoury pork filling), and siu mi. Make sure to get some chili oil!

My boyfriend's been raving about two particular dishes from here for the past few months, so we…read morecame here for my first dinner in Thunder Bay. These two dishes were: the yeung chow fried rice and the stir-fry vegetables and vermicelli.. and honestly, I don't get his hype. The rice was pretty good, fair. It was stir-fried so that each grain of rice was evenly coated, the texture of the rice was slightly al dente, and there were a fair number of shrimps. But the vegetables and vermicelli pot?! Dayuuuum, I swear they used half a bottle of oil to make that stir fry. The pores on my face had already began to clog from just staring into that pot of regret. In part, I would argue that my poor review of this place is because I'm a Chinese person who's from Markham (the Chinatown of GTA) so I've had much better Chinese food... but ironically, so is my boyfriend and yet he still claims that the food here is better. I guess in considering that it IS Thunder Bay, the food isn't bad but what I really couldn't get over was the ridiculous pricing. Closing in at around $15 for each dish, I couldn't help but to think of how the same thing back home would cost less than half that price.
