I was impacted by Hurricane Ida and had to move quickly. A friend found this mover for me and based on reviews seemed to be a good choice. I called and spoke with Mr. Ricky regarding my move. He seemed to be a legitimate business. Based on his schedule, I had to move that Friday; otherwise, it would be a week later. It was a lot going on with the storm, storage and rental trucks were hard to find. Although his price was higher than I expected, I didn't have much choice. He seemed trustworthy so I booked him. He showed up about 10-15 mins after after scheduled time (but that was no big deal to me) with one person plus him to move my 2BR/2BA apartment. I expected at least 3 people but again - hurricane damage had to move - whatever. I was busy packing things in my apartment so I didn't monitor him and his help while moving my things - BIG MISTAKE! It took us about 6h to get as much as I could out and into storage. When the day ended, he charged me $1k for the move. I was tired and trying to arrange housing while the truck was being unloaded so I didn't check the condition of my belongings or how the storage was being packed - AGAIN BIG MISTAKE. When I went back to the storage a few days later to add some more things, I noticed there was a lot of wasted space. It wasn't organized in a way that made sense. I made room to place my items at the front and dismissed it. Apartment was empty. I wasn't coming back until it was time to move. After being displaced for 3 months, I was finally ready to empty the storage and move into my new place. I went to storage to move smaller things that I could handle with help of some friends. I crawled over the sofa to get small boxes from the back and was EXTREMELY PISSED when I saw my brand new Porter footboard was severely damaged during the move AND HE NOR HIS NEPHEW SAID ANYTHING! They just hid it in the storage behind my couch (because I wasn't watching them) and went on about their day. It had obviously been dropped during the move by one of them. As heavy as it is, one person couldn't have moved alone. I took pictures and video then called him to share my disappointment. I found some additional cosmetic damage to my new furniture as well. As of the date of this post, HE HAS DONE NOTHING TO MAKE THIS RIIGHT. When I informed him of the damage, he made excuses, blamed it on his nephew and shared a sob story about their family matters which honestly had nothing to do with him standing behind the integrity of his business. He has yet to reimburse me for my damaged footboard. I have to hound him about how he plans to make this right where I continue to get excuses. He has not offered me anything towards purchasing a replacement footboard. While he seems like a good person, please watch the contents of your move closely and supervise. He blames my bad experience on his nephew but that's still a reflection of him and his business because he hired him and he has yet to take any responsibility for my damaged bed. While I wanted to support black-owned, you're probably better off hiring an actual moving company with a real truck, employees and insurance to cover their damages if any occur. I still have a broken bed so will likely take him to small claims court if it's worth my time and efforts (will see what lawyer says) but definitely filing complaint with BBB due to his failure to show any type of accountability. BE CAREFUL! HE AND HIS HELP NEEDS TO BE CLOSELY MONITORED. read more
