I was excited because of their reviews. They send you a reminder text the day before, which is great. But then the day of, they were at least half an hour late. Yes, the hourly rate goes towards 3 movers and their truck and tools, but the other two movers stayed outside of the house idly waiting for the other guy to wrap one piece of furniture at a time. Luckily I had some friends and family to help me because they helped me load and later unload my items which expedited a process that PowerMoverz dragged on The biggest offense came at the end when my time came out to 2 hours and 10 minutes and main guy told me that they round up BY THE HOUR so I would be charged for 3 hours. He got angry when I asked him where that's listed in the contract. All in all, my PowerMoverz experience was extremely disappointing. read more

First, the response time/communication on the app and on the phone was top tier. Brandon is courteous and professional. He also called the day before to confirm everything. Second, they are one of the best priced movers in the city. When Brandon arrived (about 5 minutes early, so extra point for that), he did a walk through of my 2 bedroom apartment to give me an estimate. He told me it'd take about 4 hours with three men (full disclosure, everything was not properly packed and sealed on my end, so they had to disassemble my beds and put the mattress in moving bags) since it was a lot of stuff and i was on the second floor. To be honest, I could tell it would be about 4.5, 5 hours, because it was a lottttt of stuff, but i didn't protest when he said 4 hours. The power movers were great! They asked about and moved our most precious items with extreme care and worked with us to move everything, which was quite a bit. Our move took 3, 8-10 hour days and cost more than what we expected, which we anticipated to happen in one day, but we had a LOT of stuff, including attic, garage and outdoor patio. They worked diligently and non-stop in high heat along side us. There was no standing around or idle time. The increased cost and days were not their fault, just a reflection of how much stuff we had, many of them were heavy furniture. I want to give an extra shout out to Brannon's professionalism, Raule's hard work, professionalism and great personality. Fresh worked his tush off and Irving was all muscle and worked hard as well. We appreciated hiring them and will do it again. First, let me be the one to tell you that your friends don't really want to help you move (unless you're in college and that's because your friends don't have actual lives yet, and they haven't moved that many times so it's still oddly fun). Second, let me tell you that you're right, you can probably move everything on your own and you probably don't have to pay anyone to help you. But ask yourself what your time is worth. Then, do the math. Are you really saving all that much money if it takes you four extra days to move everything? Not to mention, you're probably going to end up renting a U-Haul anyway and that ain't cheap. So now it's a question of who to hire... I've only hired a couple of movers in my life, so I'm no expert, but I can tell you this -- if you try to go really cheap, you're going to get a couple of guys who don't care about working fast, who don't care about taking care of your stuff, who don't care if they're even putting it in the right room. Do yourself a favor and hire PowerMoverz. I'm going to break it down here by the most important qualities you want in your movers. *PUNCTUALITY* These guys showed up on time, ready to go. *SPEED* They worked at a smooth and steady pace the whole day -- which is what you want. You don't want guys getting tired and sloppy halfway through. You don't want them flying around carelessly with all your breakables. Moving is a marathon, not a sprint. *CARE* They came with shrink wrap (other cheaper companies don't do that). By quickly shrink wrapping your stuff is prevents dings on your furniture and dents in the walls. We have a couple of family heirloom pieces of furniture with ornate glass/etc. that I honestly wouldn't have trusted with ANYONE ELSE. *BRAINS* They were intentional with how they moved things and how they were loaded into the truck. They asked good questions about things that could/should come apart -- and they put them back together at the new place (like shelves and a large dining room table). *FRIENDLINESS* I'm not looking for bff memories, but it's nice when the movers are happy and friendly about it. It makes it easier to work with them and communicate openly. *PRICING* The price was fair. These guys worked hard and none of our stuff was broken. *MISC.* We labeled our boxes, and they did a great job making sure the boxes got to the right room. *BONUS* This is a locally own and run business. Personally, I like to keep New Orleans dollars in New Orleans when I can and put them in the hands of people doing good, quality work. So support local business and hire these guys. read more

Pro: courteous, handled furniture well, worked consistently..no wasting time, picked up from 2 places and dropped off at two places, easy to deal with. Con: arrival time to pick up and to drop off. Arrival was not too bad..an hour off. They did notify me. But drop off in Alexandria was in the dark because of a delay on PowerMoverz part and I was not consistently informed...was told there would be 2 hour deduction in price but don't think that happened..really. Great, reliable, fast movers. The only problem I had was they did not protect my paintings well so when items moved in the truck the canvas of one of my nice paintings stretched and it about gave me a heart attack when we opened the van at the destination. However, I was lucky and the canvas popped back into place miraculously. I recommend just watching closely as they load but otherwise they were wonderful. Maybe too fast even. read more

I was able to schedule a moving date and time by our second conversation. Unfortunately hurricane Zeta came through and knocked the power out in my building for 48 hours when I was supposed to move out. Luckily Brandon and his crew maintained open availability and even offered to come during the evening of the power was restored.
