Nola Ice really caught my eye at the Pizitz Food Hall. The lady at the register was nice. I ordered fried shrimp, fries, and collard greens. The fries were so crisp, and the collard greens were pretty good. They give you a ton of food! The shrimp was okay, but I didn't get too much out of it. My first time at Pizitz Hall Food Court . Nola Ice seemed rather appealing to me when I recognize the New Orlean style. The customer service from both staff was superior. There were so many choices of flavored shrimps & catfish. I saw green tomatoes freshly cut so I had to order them to go with my Shrimp Po Boy. My hush puppies were really good and fried just right. During my weekend in Birmingham I had the opportunity to visit the Pizitz Food Hall and try a few restaurants. Nola Ice was one of them. After spending the day exploring Birmingham we made Nola Ice our last stop before taking it in for the evening. The Food Hall closes at 8pm so keep that in mind and plan accordingly. Parking isn't bad either with a few spots in front of the Food Hall on the street (which fill up fast) and a cheap pay to park area walking distance down the street as well. After taking a look at the menu me and my date decided we'd share the Catfish N' Shrimp Box (Double Regular) $22. This combo comes w/ 2 Catfish filets, golden friend shrimp served with your choice of cajun fries or zapp chips as well as one extra side. On top of that you have the option of requesting lemon pepper sauce on the catfish in which this case we did. We also went with the cajun corn as our other side. Curious as to what else was in the food hall I stumbled upon The Spun Cow right across from Nola Ice. It's an ice cream shop with some amazing ice cream. While waiting I decided to try a single scoop of caramel vanilla on a waffle cone ($9.75). Immediately after receiving my ice cream our food at Nola Ice was HOT and ready. When I tell you this food was amazing. It was goooood. The only issue I had was the size of the catfish and that's just me being greedy. Outside of that you get about 5-7 nice sizes of shrimp that are fried and seasoned to perfection as well as the fries. The Cajun corn wasn't spicy and could've used a little bit more seasoning but from a healthy stand point it was just right lol. Everything was hot and fresh off the stove which is always a plus for me. From the food being fresh and hot to being cooked at a rapid speed and tasting good, I was highly impressed with Nola Ice. I recommend anyone who's in the Birmingham area looking for some good Nola inspired food AND ice cream to visit Pizitz Food Hall and checkout both Nola Ice and The Spun Cow. You won't be disappointed. Also just in case you aren't satisfied with the amount of fries. Ask for more and see if you get another container of fries for free. read more

Drove all the way from Pelham yesterday just for a roast beef po-boy, which they have on their online menu. Being from NOLA, you can not get those here or a decent snoball, so we were excited. We both asked for the RB beef PB and were told very nonchalantly, "we don't have that". Not an, "I'm sorry, we're out, or "I'm sorry, we don't serve that anymore". Just a very unapologetic "we don't have that". Were they out of the ingredients or they don't serve them anymore?? If it's the latter, then why is it on your menu on your website. Being very disappointed, we walked away and walked around the food court, as this was our first time there. We went back to the window and asked for snowballs, and then we were told they had no ice to make snowballs. Really?? You have a snowball business, yet have no ice??!! New stall at the Pizitz Food hall. I love me some Cajun food and especially poboys. Ordered the shrimp with lemon pepper Cajun sauce. The shrimp were well fried, enormous and delicious. It is a familiar place where friends and families enjoy a break from whatever. And, there is nothing like a a New Orleans snowball. What makes the snowball special is the ice, syrup, and preparation. I said "hey what's up" and he stayed silent for a moment until he realized I wasn't going to just order without being prompted or asked what I would like. We took our granddaughter to get a NOLA ice at their food truck and were disappointed. The flavors seemed all color and no real taste. We were the only customers and they got our granddaughter's order wrong. We didn't realize it until we'd left and her mom tasted it. For what we paid $6/ea for a medium and $5/ea for a small was kind of high. After the tip we dropped $20. The ice was courser than your typical shaved ice. It was more like what we called a snow cone when we were kids. My granddaughter enjoyed it and your kids probably will too. If you're a grown up, I recommend saving your money. read more

Lol it tired to support black today and was disappointed. I didn't have the right amount of cash, cause of course they was higher than the shaved ice in Forestdale. Anyway the young man that rung me up was so sweet and definitely gone make a great husband! But Ain get my cream on my icee and I can't eat shaved ice with no cream.
