Heck, even on a cold winter day this is a great spot. My kids and I frequent this place year round, it's never too cold for shaved ice. If you go don't be afraid to try new flavors or even mix them. My go to is yellow ice cream with strawberry cheesecake topped with cream. Also, unless you like it to melt fast, tell to not make it "soupy". My kids love the silver fox (sweet vanilla) and ninja turtle (not totally sure what this is). It's under new management, but the items available have remained the same. Don't let the small building fool ya!! This place packs the most punch for your buck.

The staff has always been the sweetest and to be such a small little spot, the amount of people they serve doesn't slow them down one bit! It is the epitome of a hole in the wall as it's the size of a small shack, but the amount of flavors they have is ENORMOUS! My favorite flavor is Tigers Blood or Wedding Cake with the cream. Always, with the cream!!

If you've never had Shave Ice or you really love homemade ice cream you're in for a treat you won't…read morefind in any other ice cream shop around here! "Shave ice" is a bowl of ice cream topped with delectably shaven ice - not chunky like sno cones. The icey part is topped with your choice of flavor drizzled on it. A Snow Cap (condensed milk) is included as well. Most people have their Shave Ice with all of the above. It's a refreshing way to enjoy a lot of tasty ice cream with some very special extras. The owner has professional ice shaving machines used in Hawaii (we've been to Hawaii enough times to be hooked on the stuff ). If you're not interested in trying something new but you DO appreciate homemade ice cream, every ice cream at Oliwia's is homemade. It's only about 2 miles west of I-65 in downtown Hartselle. It's super bright and clean with ample tables and a couple of bars with stools along the windows. It was fairly busy but the line moved quickly. We each got a medium Shave Ice with a scoop of ice cream (lots of flavors to choose from), shaved ice, flavored syrup (lots of flavors of this as well!), and the "snow cap" (coconut flavored condensed milk topping). It was a little messy but yummy! The medium size was almost more than we could eat! It was a fun experience and an affordable way to be treated to a more unique dessert experience. The next time we're heading home from Birmingham I'll be exiting off I65 for Oliwia's Shave Ice! We're so glad we took a chance!
