First saw this restaurant featured on one of the Netflix documentaries so decided to check it out for myself. Food 5/5 Let me tell you that this chicken here is amazing. I did not expect to get this quality of fried chicken in Buenos Aires. I have had many chicken sandwiches in my life, and this is by far one of the greatest tasting juiciest chicken sandwiches I've ever had. The menu says it is spicy, I didn't get any spice from it maybe just a hint. Chicken nuggets Great breading on them, once again, just as with the chicken sandwich, these were incredibly moist. They do also have sauces I highly recommend the jalapeño cilantro, and if you're into super spicy there, Fuego XXX. Gumbo The gumbo had a great flavor to it. Tasted super authentic with spices, although not overly spicy, even though they stated it on their menu. I love my gumbo, flaming, hot, and if you do as well be sure to put their Fuego XXX sauce on it to your liking. But forewarn that the Fuego XXX is incredibly spicy. 3 wings These wings are great. Just as it was with their chicken sandwich and nuggets, some of the juiciest wings you'll ever have in Buenos Aires and the United States. I can't keep stressing enough. How good this chicken is here. Drinks Forgot to take a picture of our drinks, but we fell in love with their "Tinto del Verano" imagine a sangria in ice. Very yummy! Sandwich was a bit sparse on toppings though, basically fried chicken and onion rings but the abundance of self serve sauces made up for that. Slaw was yummy, I'd go again! Nola was a cool little restaurant where people seemed to hang out. The restaurant sort of spills onto the sidewalk there where people drink and eat. Ambiance is definitely a 5 here. Saw this restaurant on Somebody Feed Phil and decided to check it out. You go to the back and order, give them your name, then they give you a piece of paper with your order, the cooks in the front will shout out your name when your order is ready. I got the Koreano, since it said it was spicy and being here for over a month I had been craving spice. I wouldn't say it's exactly spicy. More vinegary than anything but still very delicious. The corn bread is really greasy but delicious. I also got the lemonade, which was refreshing. Seating is limited so I'd recommend going with one or two other people only. Or by yourself like I did. Staff is really nice. They have like 6 different sauce bottles but it's communal and people leave the bottles on their own table, so it's really awkward to ask for it. I have to preface this review by saying I lived in New Orleans for 4 years and I am quite spoiled in the realm of Louisiana cooking. It really isn't done right ANYWHERE so I came here with suitably low expectations. Having said that, if this establishment were anywhere in the USA I'd be giving 3 or fewer stars but to have something like this all the way down in BA - I want them to improve, not go out of business! The drinks are good. Service is friendly and English is spoken well enough. The jambalaya was MUCH too salty but it was at least real jambalaya, and the fried chicken was nothing like any fried chicken in the USA but was fine. Room for improvement but I'd return, especially if I felt like having more drinks and less food. Give it a shot! read more

I'm from the States, have been to many, many fried chicken joints, soul food restaurants, etc. We're very lucky to have this 5-star chicken here. They do it better than a lot of US restaurants. That said, I gave Nola 4 stars due to serious omissions with side dishes. Etoufee (?) de hongos, chicken gumbo -- I know argentines think black pepper is spicy (les quiero todavía) but this doesn't have any use of other supporting spices or cajun roux to just make it flavorful. Or precious little. Doesn't have to be hit - dies have to be flavorful with herbs and spices. Cole slaw could be made well -- it's pretty but lacks punch, juiciness, flavor. It could be easily remedied by chusmeando allrecipes to fix the proportions using common elements from popular US-based recipes. Anyhow, on the bright side, cornbread is super. If you stick with that and chicken, you're doing alright. read more

3 cheers and 4 stars for Nola. This fried chicken and beer is excellent! What a genius combo. My friend and I both got the promo and enjoyed our piping hot, crispy chicken. Both parts were amazing but the chicken breast stood out- sooooo juicy. I will admit that this place is a little try-hard. The theme feels almost forced. But many of the restaurants in the area are that way, and hey, if the food is good, we're all happy. It seems to be kinda geared toward foreigners, but it's also popular among porteños! The staff was very kind and made sure to call our names loud and clear since the place was crowded and noisy on a Saturday night! My IPA was cold and delicious. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I discovered this place earlier this year thanks to the Lonely Planet guide on Buenos Aires, and decided to give it a try since I think I never had cajun food before. BAM! I loved it, WE loved with my boyfriend. I always order the gumbo and add lots of spicy to it, same for fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. Also the beer is on tap and really nice. Best of all? the amazing price :) Just try to make it a bit early, otherwise you might find yourself eating your gumbo and having your beer seating on the sidewalk haha read more

I've never visited New Orleans, but it doesn't matter - because baby, this food is everything. I'm in Buenos Aires for two weeks and I've been here 3 times already. Might make it four times tonight. The Cajun Sandwich is yummy to the tummy. Perfectly seasoned and has that perfectly fried crunch. The Chicken Salad is also worthy of your coins. Lastly, the house drink (lemonade, ginger, and honey) was refreshing. They also offer about 5 different sauces: Cilantro Jalepeno, Honey Mustard, Spicy XXX, and two more I can't recall. But you are guaranteed to find a sauce you enjoy. And that XXX is well deserved - it packs a punch! read more

Wow! Love this hole in the wall fried chicken spot! Upon coming in the place seems quite cramped and there's limited seating, but after receiving our Red IPA + Pollo Frito combo we were quite satisfied. First off I've never had such a juicy fried chicken like the one at NOLA here. The staff was also very friendly and accommodated us by speaking in English as well. The food took about 15-20 minutes to be served but it was well worth the wait. They had some interesting choices in sauces such as a coco chipotle. Yes you read correctly, a chocolate chipotle! It was definitely a new taste I've never tried before, I guess chocolate is huge in Argentina haha but it was good! Though I mainly used honey mustard for the chicken. Not in with all the other restaurants/bars it seems to be on a slightly less upmarket street, but it is worth the walk/search to find it. They specialise in craft beer and chicken and they do both really really well. It's a sort of dive bar in feel and is certainly not fancy in any way, but the food and booze was really really good & very cheap. I had a IPA, a red ale and a red IPA. All tasted great and the fried chicken with spicy sauce was also superb. So crispy and tasty it really was reason enough for us to have visited. Happy our is 5 to 8 and u get a full pint for 50 pesos. About to £2.50 currency wise at the moment. Defo the cheapest booze in BA so far. If you like craft beer and or chicken. NOLA is the acronym for New Orleans, Louisiana. C and I discovered NOLA quite by chance the other day, finding this small place filled with customers. We returned with J last night for dinner. Except for the Spanish that filled the air, it looked like it was straight from New Orleans. Food: 5 stars - We each ordered the gumbo and were delighted, especially because it was spicy, something one rarely encounters in BA, a city in which many restaurants don't have black pepper. We observed that the deep fried chicken was popular with other diners. It certainly looked good! For dessert we each had a blueberry pie, which isn't a pie in the traditional sense. The "pie" is an approximately 4" diameter deep dish shape. It was excellent. Although we don't usually drink beer, the majority of patrons had beers. Fortunately, they offer a Dirigutti blend, which is quite good, as well as a half dozen other wines. Service: 4 stars - Service here is not like a traditional restaurant with waiter service, but rather it is organized like bars that are common in New Orleans. You order and pay in advance at the bar. When your food is ready, they shout out your name. It's not elegant, but it's not meant to be; it's low brow New Orleans. But coupled with the noise of the crowd, it give the place atmosphere and energy. Ambiance: 4 stars - High energy and fun ... that's what it's about. It's very casual with a mix of regular tables, some stand up counters, and a stool height communal table. There are also some tables on the sidewalk which is the only reason. I came to this place because somebody had told me it was the "best fried chicken" in town. While the search for the truly best fried chicken most likely will never end, this place is definitely on the top 3 when it comes to Buenos Aires. The chicken itself it's cooked properly and right on the spot. Great crunch on the outside, nice and tender on the inside. Mine came with a side salad that was just mind blowing, plus they have a whole variety of sauces that go pretty well with the chicken. They've got a decent selection of craft beer which is always a good thing. The place itself its a tad small and the high tables are a bit uncomfortable (you might not find a table if you're a large group) but they do get points from making the most of the space they've got to work with. It's a great place to go and have a couple beers and you can be in and out in less than 30 minutes if you're going solo and don't have that much time in your hands. Finding this place was a bit difficult, as Google Maps took us to the wrong streets, but thankfully we figured out the correct location from their website. I really enjoyed the way the place looked, as it had an authentic southern feel. The beer selection is nice as well, offering more than I saw at the typical, local restaurants nearby. The food was a bit of a miss though. We had the gumbo and the fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich, while a bit small, was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. It also didn't come with anything, which is a little sad. The gumbo was thick with rice, and contained only beef (no shrimp?), and unfortunately wasn't very flavorful. read more

Great food. Terrible service. Unprofessional and rude personnel. I liked coming here often because of the dishes and the ambiance of it all but no more. After my last visit - the cashier girl, the waiter and the cooks ruined it for me. They were confrontational and all together mocked me because I asked for the WiFi password and their excuse was that it doesn't work for iPhones which makes no sense. NOLA is the kind of place that I've always wished this city had, somewhere fun and relaxed where you don't pay extortionate prices for mediocre food. We got there early on a weekend night and it was already quite full. Everyone I know who's tried the fried chicken all say it's seriously good. The red beans and rice has the perfect amount of spiciness for those of us accustomed to spicy food. The cornbread is a bit different to the one we're used to, but nevertheless yummy, with aioli sauce (ANYTHING with aioli is yummy for me). Overall it's a "fast food" vibe, you have to order everything yourself at the bar and they'll call you when it's ready, and the portions aren't huge. Although the atmosphere is very much like a bar and they have excellent craft beers, it's not a "bar with food" because let's face it, the food in those bars are usually awful. NOLA has achieved something quite difficult: to take the best elements of both bar and restaurant, and combine it to make their own blend of fun. That's one of the reasons for its success, I believe. By 9pm it gets pretty heaving inside and although there are a few tables outside, a lot of people just sit on the pavement curb and eat there, which I think is great. After 2 and a half months here we decided we missed New Orelans enough to try the food at NOLA. We went early on a Saturday night and were met with delicious smells of fried chicken and cool/hipstery vibes. Sat outside because there was no more room inside (my only complaint about this place is how small it is). Ordered fried chicken and a drink and was not disappointed AT ALL! Everything was super hot and delicious and my one friend loved his food so much that he literally got a second order. NOLA is a must for extranjeros who are missing some authentic U.S food. We decided to come here after just arriving to Argentina from the states on a Friday night. The place was extremely crowded and it was somewhat hard to find a seat. Awful Place, too crowded, super noise, they keep shouting the orders over the kitchen and you have to attention over the almost unheard shout that mixed with the people and the music, the owner are rude even if you take a napkin from a different bin, is a place where you suppose to sit yourself, get your fork and knife but if you even move a chair from a table to an other you get a Speech from the owner that you shouldn't move anything. This quaint place run by BA hipsters. To me the food was not the best nor unique. They did however have a great number of beer selections. Food a bit high priced for the rations and what it is, Popeyes(lol). Very limited seating. At least the mustache having hipsters in here are not douchy like in San Diego.
