I almost always get one of the kebab plates (a half-order is plenty), either chicken or beef, with a side of grilled vegetables, and it makes for a very reasonable (under $5 US), healthy, and satisfying meal. The also have a very good prix-fixe menu, with an ample quantity of food for ~$10 US, but it's too much food to eat before going to a dance class or milonga!

The prices are really high, which would not have been a problem had the food been good or even mediocre. I held off reviewing this place as I wanted to give it another chance before reviewing it, but unfortunately, I am forced to concede that this place is not for me. There are definitely far, far better places with this price range. And this place has either changed cooks, or my taste buds just don't match the people who raved about this place. I really wanted to like this place as I love the whole idea of a restaurant serving local regional cuisines, but unfortunately, I have yet to be impressed!

The food is local, seasonal and lovingly prepared. I ordered lamb shoulder which was roasted or grilled (not sure) but it was like no lamb I've had in my life. Most lamb I've had is like a cut of steak: dense and strong. This was tender like poultry with subtle lamb flavor. Wow wow! I'll never think of lamb the same way again. Service was kind, efficient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. My only critique is the amount of dressing on the salad, even though I generally like good coverage. I'm honored to give this restaurant its first yelp review in a while. I got a main, wine, water and dessert for $6000 pesos including tip. So worth it!

To start, the empanadas are absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them. The menu otherwise was quite rich. We got the Milanesa, and the Ossobuco on polenta. I found the Milanesa to be a touch on the greasier side than I am used to, but it was delicious! And the Ossobuco on polenta was quite rich, especially with the bone marrow - I had a hard time finishing this, but I highly recommend it. The portions are quite large, so sharing dishes is probably not a bad idea. I am also pleasantly surprised by the cocktail scene of Argentina, especially Buenos Aires! There was a spicy version of a Negroni on the menu that the staff warned me about but I kind of took it as "they probably mean it's a strong drink" But NOPE - it is actually spicy! As a spice lover this was really interesting, but not for everyone. The ambiance of the dining area was quite interesting with photographs and memorabilia. If I had one little advice for the restaurant, maybe fix up the bathrooms a little bit. Peron Peron captures the essence of Buenos Aires in a way that may be a bit controversial, but the food is definitely worth the trip!

If you don't see anyone, try ringing the doorbell to the right. We stopped by on a Friday night without a reservation and the place was fully booked, but the restaurant was able to rustle up a couple extra stools and seat us at the back bar. We were then invited to sit at the main bar when enough places opened up. The staff really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. When they noticed us puzzling over the Spanish menus, they quickly rounded up some English translations. The cocktail menu, though, is in Spanish only, and Google translate wasn't much help. Noticing our distress, the bartender, who spoke excellent English, explained that the menu titles were Argentine slang words and happily explained the sense of the groupings. He then helped us pick some great unique cocktails based on what we told him we liked. All of the food was great. My favorite was the roasted tomato side, which also included broccoli and some kind of crunch topping. I wish all veggies tasted this good! The lamb empanadas offered a gourmet twist on a classic Argentine staple. The melted Camembert with grapefruit and tomatoes, while not my favorite, was refreshingly different. A word of warning: the "platitos", meaning little plates, aren't like the little tapas back home. Be careful not to over-order. I'd start with one platito and one side and go from there. Sit at the bar if you want to meet some of the locals!
