I've wanted to eat at Nobu for a long time, and this experience left me underwhelmed. I came in for an early dinner - 4:30pm - and there was only one other table in the restaurant. The reason I mention this is because I felt very rushed to eat and get out, and there was no reason to do so. I ordered 5 dishes. When I'm in a nice restaurant, I shouldn't have to ask the server to only bring one dish at a time - it should just be assumed. I ordered my selections, the server asked what order I would like the food delivered, and I told him the order in which I gave him the selections - but the tempura and sushi could be served together. The miso soup came first. Ok...not what I asked for. I requested the oysters first, but not a big deal.... Then the oysters came while I was still enjoying my soup. I wasn't concerned yet. The oysters are on ice and can sit for a minute. After I finished those 2 dishes, my elote-style baby corn was delivered. This dish was probably the biggest disappointment. The menu indeed said "baby corn", but I was imagining corn kernels done elote style...kind of like an esquite, but a high-end restaurant version. That is not at all what I got. I got little baby corn - the kind that come in a can - dressed up with elote style seasoning. This dish was $345MXN (~$17USD)!!! SERIOUSLY?! The cost on that dish has got to be an 800-1000% markup for something that shouldn't be served in a fine-dining restaurant in the first place. I took a couple of bites - and then my tempura came while I was still nibbling on the disappointing baby corn that I was simply eating at this point because I didn't want it to go to waste. I pushed it aside for my tempura entrée. I eventually let about half of the corn dish go to waste - and I hate wasting food. Nobody asked if I enjoyed the dish, or why I didn't finish it. I didn't necessarily expect them to remove it from my bill (although when I was working as a server, that's what I would've done), but it would've been nice if someone had asked for feedback on why I didn't finish it when I cleared every other plate. As I was enjoying my tempura, I noticed the sushi had not yet arrived...did they forget? The *one* dish that I said could be served with another dish is the only dish that was *not* served with something else. I finished my tempura. The sushi finally arrived, so thankfully they did not forget it. I ate my sushi, and my dishes were cleared. I was delivered the dessert menu. I said "no postres, gracias", and the server ignored what I said and walked away. I simply wanted the bill at this point, but I looked anyway to see what they had to offer. After all, I was basically being forced to do so. The server comes back, I ask for "La cuenta, por fa", and I receive it. As I'm glancing over the bill, I notice a charge for "cubierto - $16MXN" (silverware/cutlery). Ok...that was the last straw. I realize that it amounts to about $0.80USD, but that's not the point. You're nickel and diming your customers in a nice restaurant to the point that you're charging them for chopsticks??! And maybe the use of the water glass as well...but, that just about sent me over the edge. I'm already paying enough for the food that the cost of utensils should be included in the price. I have *NEVER EVER* seen a charge for something like that in my life. I paid the bill and I left 10%. That's *VERY* hard for me to do as someone who used to work in fine dining restaurants, but I had to send a message. And I realize 10% in Mexico is probably not as insulting as it is back home...but I needed to convey that everything was disappointing - especially the service. Nearly everything about my experience went wrong. I was in and out in about 45 minutes - maybe slightly longer. I'm sad to say, I will never be back - at least not to this location. First of all, the place is gorgeous. Inside the restaurant there is an ancient tree, that gives the place a warm welcome. This place was designed to perfection and you can tell every single detail was well thought. From the lighting to the paintings, the place is exquisite (decor wise). Having said that, the food is disappointing. I know is a widely known fact that nobu is an overpriced sushi chain, but the dishes didn't match the prices. The sashimi was ok, but for the price you can get triple the amount at other places. The cocktails were pretty good, I have to say. In my opinion this is more of a cocktails kind of place. We walked in about 8:45pm weekday without a reservation. (Our previous choice restaurant did not work out). They only had seats in the smoking section and we took the table. Only one person was smoking. But the smoke was noticeable later I realized after I left the room and came back. We started with salmon sashimi, salmon tacos (which turned out to be tuna tacos), tuna tatki, edamame, and scallops. The edamame was absolutely perfectly done. my friends went crazy over it. I thought it was ok. One friend got a shrimp dish. Everyone loved the main dish they ordered. Black cod miso was my favorite and outstanding!! As an American visiting Mexico, this Nobu was absolutely better priced than our local counterparts so we knew we had to check it out. However, I think it fell a little flat. The food was good, but not great or anywhere near the quality I'd expect from a restaurant brand that so many celebs frequent. We felt the seafood was lacking in flavor depth, and had some phenomenal food at other restaurants in the city that left this experience feeling lack luster. The drinks and dessert however were incredible. The service was absolutely amazing, and the interior of the restaurant is stunning. This Nobu restaurant has a beautiful exterior. The food though compared to other Nobu's is not as good. The hand rolls are very plain. The rock shrimp salad usually has mushrooms in it and they don't add mushrooms here. The food is good they are just missing a couple more details that are usually perfection at Nobu restaurants. They spicy tuna rolls are delicious yet they are prepared differently. I recommend the crunchy rice and spicy tuna. read more

You may not find that amount to be that extravagant but in most places in Mexico City you can get a meal for two under $10. Plus it's very cold in here during the winter months. Definitely one of my top 5 meals ever! Extraordinarily tasty, not super crowded, fancy, yet affordable because of the USD/MEX conversion. Cocktails and food all came out super fast, and were of legendary quality. I had the King Crab tacos (A MUST!), wagyu gyoza, beef tenderloin (probably the best thing), lobster sushi roll, fried avocado (good, but not very interesting). I came here last night to celebrate my birthday and left feeling very disappointed. I had the oysters and the omakase. For drinks I had the lychee martini, sake, and a Paloma. Food and service started off really good. The first few courses with nigiris, sashimi and oysters was divine. Every bite was amazing. The service was spectacular and I felt like they really cared. Then slowly the meal became bad. The tuna with veggie rolls were drenched in a strong vinegar sauce, the cod was salty. And then last 2 courses they brought me a salty miso soup that I couldn't finish and an extremely dry chocolate cake. Which I think is not valuable at all for such a big name as Nobu. Service slowly got bad towards the end of the meal. They were inattentive and careless in service. I wanted them to come over several times for me to order more food, and the manager made eye contacts and walked away. I wanted to order more food because I was still unsatisfied, but they brought me desserts without asking if I wanted anything else. So I felt like they really wanted me out of there which I still don't understand. In all honestly I wasn't expecting much, and I was still disappointed. For years I have heard about Nobu and I finally got the chance to go! I knew Nobu as creative asian fusion- and also as a hot spot for celebrities in LA (definitely got my first exposure to Nobu while watching reality tv shows in the mid 2000s). So, I was really excited to check out the new Polanco location. But also nervous, because rarely do things live up to so much hype. My husband and I went on Valentines day, but since it isn't such a big restaurant holiday like in the states, the normal menu was all available and it wasn't too crowded.After reviewing the menu, which has cold items, hot items, and sushi, we weren't sure what to choose. So, the omakase was a great choice for us. For 1100 pesos, you get 7 courses. The waiter gave us a rundown of what was on the menu for omakase and it sounded like a nice variety so we went for it. Great decision!! Each course was interesting and delicious. Highlights include: incredible sushi plate (three kinds of seasoned fish, scallops and anguilla), tuna tartare, miso black cod. I had heard about the miso black cod for years and it totally lived up to the hype! Miso soup was fine but kind of a boring 6th course. Dessert was a fabulous chocolate ice cream with cookie crumbs, and an ok strawberry banana cake. I don't understand the other reviews that say the food is overpriced and that they left hungry. I was absolutely stuffed and had to take home a doggy bag. If you don't want to spring for the omakase, at least order the miso black cod. Definitely a can't miss item! I can still taste it in my mouth days later, and can't stop thinking about it. Overall, I found the food to be excellent. We sat out on a patio, which was fairly empty except a table of really drunk couples next to us. Atmosphere was good not great, service was fine, and the food was exceptional. Finally a good sushi place in Mexico City. While many sushi places including the infamous Tori Tori have excellent fish, their execution falls in the category of supermarket sushi in So Cal. Nobu is awesome !!! The shed is free to do whatever he wants to show what he knows; the staff , has tried the dishes so the can guide you though their dishes. Go for the untraditional American menu of average sushi and you will be ok. Their traditional American menu dishes are below average. By far one of the best dining experience and customer service I have ever had! But I will put the moose on the table, it's also the most expensive dining experience I have ever had and it wasn't a gluttony of food. However, my wife ordered the Omasake which is where they bring you all the signatures dishes (8 courses) and there was not one plate where she didn't give the OMG face. I ordered the organic chicken which was a breast chopped and diced and it came with 3 different sauces which were all exquisite... teriyaki, a Peruvian picante, and wasabi with pepper. I also ordered not one but 2 plates of the ribeye tacos because it was so damn good! Now they are tiny as can be, it's like putting a little diced ribeye on a delicious corn tortilla chip folded with a drizzle of the Peruvian picante, but the ribeye is top notch. We also ordered 3 drinks which were delicious and we don't even know the name except they all had vodka and 2 had grapefruit and the last one was like a basil martini. I won't get into the many disappointing experiences leading up to the "chef recommend" sampling, but the service is a 2, our server was pretty much a shadester & didn't tell the truth about anything. Food was ok, that's it, f'n ok! Nobu would shut this place down if was sitting at our table! The sashimi was not same day fresh & there were fingerprints on the plate. Oh before that we ordered a saki with fresh crushed fruit, promised it was fresh, and it was like canned Jumex juice. We had an artichoke salad, it was ok but had way too much lime juice in it, so I'm going to assume they were canned artichoke hearts. Following that was friend crab, who fries crab? And then the haujillo which was pretty good but very heavy, and we ordered the black cod.. Oh and I asked for the most popular roll (tuna avocado), it was a joke, ate one piece as did my date. If that was their best roll, they really do need to close down and start over. Because anyone who knows good food will not dine there twice. Don't waste your money.. There is a plethora of other amazing restaurants, for way less money in MX DF. The food was boring, & the service was annoying. I hope a manager reads this and makes some corrections, this location is NOT a good representation of Nobu's food. Sashimi was not bad but I've had better. You go to a place like this expecting to spend a lot of money which I did, and you also expect them not to be out of fresh wasabi. You also expect them to have a better selection of fish. And then you get charged for silverware, and you get charged to sit at the bar. I think this is an attempt to collect a tip because of the culture in Mexico. I tip well in spite of the extra charges as most Americans do. Maybe they were trying to sneak it by but I don't think they should charge American customers for silverware set up's, because we don't like being nickeled and dimed for everything. For these reasons I won't go back. So you see I spent over $200us there, and because they charged me an extra $32 in fees to sit at the bar and eat with chopsticks ,they have now lost thousands of dollars because I probably would have came back many times, most likely once a month. read more
