Located in a small plaza on Temple, the location isn't the best exterior setting to do the inside decor justice. Upon entering the door, the space is inviting and very cute. There are long table seats and laid back space to hang out. The wall decors are light and many pink aspect around. This is a dessert shop and they offer something for everyone. Their specialty drink have tea and non-tea selections. They have ice cream that are unique and different. They also have egg puffs! Service there is fair, usually there is one staff member there so if there are a few customers or your order is plenty, there can be a small wait. They have stamp card rewards, buy 10 get 1 free. We are in the hunt for Black Sesame Ice Cream, but we are realizing that it's not an easy task. Doing some research on Yelp, I found Nobibi in Pomona and we go to walnut often, so we made the 15 minute drive from walnut to Pomona to see if it will satisfy our cravings for Black Sesame Ice Cream. When we got here, we were impressed by the store's decorations with a large stuffed animal bear on the bench seat.a really cute atmosphere. I'm sure this is a popular spot on the weekends. As for the black sesame soft serve, it was nice that they had it, but the flavor just did not meet our expectations. Such a cute spot with delicious treats! The woman behind the register was super kind and helpful. It was my first time here so I didn't know what to get but she helped me and guided me on how to order. I decided to get their Strawberry Blush special ($5.75) with milk boba tea & their Original Egg Puffs ($5.25) which = $12 with tax. Note: it is a 10 minute wait for the Egg puff. (Worth the wait!) I first heard of Nobibi Ice Cream at a Yelp event that was taking place at The Cravings within Tawa Market Hall in Eastvale. They weren't officially open at the time and I've been wanting to go back when they are actually open. So when I saw Nobibi Ice Cream at University Plaza near Cal Poly Pomona, I was so excited. I knew I had to pay them a visit soon. Today was the day to make that visit. My eldest daughter and I came here after our dinner at Phox that happens to be within the same plaza. Cool! This Nobibi is very bright and inviting. Love their vibrant pink logo sign. They have soft plushies on the benches for guests to hold and caress. There are two gigantic bears to hug as well. What a nice touch! Staff was pleasant and helpful with recommendations. Strawberry Plush and Dalgona Coffee both with vanilla ice cream are two of the top favorites. That's what we got. They were both amazingly yummy! The vanilla ice cream was very smooth and tasty. The crystal boba in the strawberry one was a nice addition as I love crystal boba. The corn flakes was the surprise ingredient that made them unique... it works and it's delectable! One gripe I had was that the vanilla ice cream had already started melting at the time we got our ice cream. The ice cream needed to settle a bit more in the machine before serving. I saw bubbles in my ice cream. I love fresh ice cream, but I prefer to eat them not drink them... the latter would be a shake LOL. Hence, 4 stars. Cute dessert shop. We yelped a random dessert place and surprised that there are several locations for Nobibi. My daughters got regular cones. My husband got the Dalgona and I got the Taro red bean sundae. Overall the ice creams were good tasting but my daughter's chocolate was an odd color, almost charcoal. My taro red bean didn't have enough Taro in my opinion. The spoons are tiny shovels which I though was a super cute touch. I gotta say...this place really threw us for a loop. We planned to check out their Ninja cone because the website advertised it as black sesame ice cream... The dessert itself had the color of black sesame seeds...but that was about it. There was absolutely no black sesame flavor in the ice cream. Nor any other flavor to speak of. It tasted like cold, wet air. Was this what the cloud motifs were hinting at so cheerfully from menu to the decorative cushions? That we would be driving 20 mins and paying over $6 to eat some soft serve storm cloud? I've tasted more flavor in secondhand vape clouds. We even had a palate cleanser beforehand, since we had spicy food for dinner. We were confused as to what, exactly, we were tasting in that ice cream...if anything at all. What we got were (very, very light) subtle hints of what might be chocolate, but that may well be the oreo, chocolate pocky, and vaguely chocolate waffle cone. That said, I'm baffled as to why this was one of the top 2 ice cream desserts when only the garnishes had any flavor. The only thing that it had going for it was the interesting sensation that the pop rocks give. The pop rocks were also not flavored. All in all, the ninja was all style, no substance. It was Instagrammable, but we didn't come here to take pics of food & toss them for the empty calories. This was a miss, and as of this writing, a disappointment, given the 5 star rating this has on Yelp. Something isn't adding up. The absence of customers in the place at 8pm was telling, though. I was recommended this place so I came to try it. The interior is all pink and decorated with so many adorable plushies. They even had a big cherry blossom tree that hung over some of the seating. We ordered the Brown Sugar Boba Gelato and the Roasted Milk Tea with Brulee Cheese Top. The gelato was the star of the show as it was so creamy and didn't feel too heavy with the boba. Decided to stop by here as I was craving something sweet after lunch. Once I walked in, I was met with cute aesthetic decor. I can definitely see this as a place for college students to hang/study. Ambiance aside I liked how their menu offered customizable ice cream besides the preset ice cream. They also have drinks and cotton candy! I was a bit worried at first because prices wise it was a bit expensive for ice cream, so I decided to get their kids size cup for ube and black sesame ice cream. Let me tell you, it was SO GOOD. The black sesame was rich and the ube complemented it so well. For $3.75 without tax, I'd have to say that the portion I got was pretty big which left me extra satisfied. I definitely will eat here again if I'm in the area to try other items on the menu. Very interesting flavors! Tried the brown sugar boba cup, and it's like getting a boba drink but with ice cream. Very yummy, but also sweet, so be ready. The red bean taro was less sweet, but still sweet enough and tasty. Also tried the Ninja, which is black sesame ice cream. Also very good if you like black sesame (and I do). Yoooooo!!!! Favorite new soft server alert! Shout out to the worker named victor (I think was his name). Cool guy that helped me out. I know of Nobibi because of their location in chino. I saw them in the gram and had to check them out. That location was good too. But as far as this one, same quality service and my soft serve was good. I got the chocolate and vanilla swirl. I didn't get a pic because I was busy talking to victor lol My favorite so far is the plain vanilla with some chocolate drizzle. I mentioned the price comparison from both locations and had some questions. Victor explained what happened. I showed him my pictures and bank transaction to make sure I wasn't trippin. And yea. From all of the offerings in University Plaza, the one thing that has been missing for the longest time was a great dessert place. That's why when I found out Nobibi, originally from Chino Hills, opened a location in the place of ZeroX, I knew I had to drop by and give them a try. Stopping by on a Wednesday afternoon around 4:30PM, the first thing that stood out to me was the decor of the place! From the light colors to the cloud-shaped lamps and the teddy bear plush, the newly renovations were definitely going for the "cutesy fun" aesthetic; I honestly wouldn't mind spending a few hours inside studying! In addition to the furnishings, energetic EDM music was playing inside which further elevated the feeling of excitement to be inside. Walking up to the counter, I noticed there were a variety of options available to order. From your typical milk tea drinks to a 24 Karat Edible Gold Ice Cream, there seemed to be many options to satisfy a sweet tooth. But as for my first experience here, I decided to order the Egg Puffs Ice Cream which goes for $9 dollars before tax. Because I came during their soft opening period, they offered a buy one get one 50% off which lowered the price of my order down to around $5.50 after tax. When paying, the cashier let me know that they were having problems with their vanilla ice cream machine and that they would gladly substitute chocolate for no extra charge. Although this small ice cream shop is still working out its kinks, I found this gesture to be very accommodating! Even when the server mistakenly made a vanilla ice cream cone instead of chocolate, he was very kind and simply offered it to her for free, no extra charges! From there, my ice cream was ready in about 5-7 minutes, faster than the 10 minutes requested to prepare the bubble waffles in the cup. Picking up the tall dessert, I can remember my eyes lighting up at the first sight of it! Many places with pictures advertising the food fail to replicate the look of the ad. But for this bubble waffle ice cream, it looked almost identical. And to that end, the amount of waffle given (one batch from the press) and the ice cream sitting inside of it was about what I would expect. From the pocky sticks and oreo to the waffle and ice cream in the cup, I would say the amount and variety satisfied my desire for an afternoon snack. At the price point of $5.50 for this cup, I'd say this was a steal. Definitely come in while their promotion lasts. But at the regular price of $9, this would be something I would get only once in awhile. Price to portion is there, just not as much for those with a lower budget. The quality of the ice cream would for sure justify this cup's nine dollar price tag. For one, the ice cream was thick and did not became runny, despite the fact the ice cream came from a larger soft-serve style machine. As for the taste, the vanilla I had was light and unironically like a sweet milk-based cream. Although the ice cream very simple and very delectable, the red coating sprinkled on the surface did not contribute all that much to the taste. But of the two big components, I would say the bubble waffle was the part to write home on. Because the exterior was soft, the interior tasted almost custard-like. Adding some ice cream onto the waffle made it taste like a layered danish filling which was unexpected, yet very good. The waffle had just enough sugar as well: not too sweet, not too bland. Summing up the taste, I enjoyed the ice cream and would highly recommend it for those looking for a sweet treat with some substance! Entering into the Nobibi bubble that just opened near the Cal Poly Pomona campus, I'd argue they deserve a 5/5, no questions asked. The themed environment brought a lot of excitement, the staff member working was very kind, the food was given in palatable size, and it tasted like it was crafted with quality in mind. Although the cold lies ahead in the next few months, I'm sure a visit to Nobibi will offer a heartwarming experience. Definitely can't wait to come back and try some of the other items! read more
