If you're looking for a divorce attorney, do yourself a favor and stay away from Yuriy Yaroslavski…read more Hiring him was one of the biggest mistakes I made during my divorce. Before I signed the retainer, he was responsive, empathetic, and told me my divorce would probably be resolved within two weeks. It ended up taking a year and a half. Once I became a client, everything changed. Emails would go unanswered for weeks. If I asked questions about my own case, I'd often get a rude or dismissive response. On top of that, I was billed for things that honestly felt ridiculous, like sending a two-sentence email to opposing counsel. Some of the advice I received made my situation worse. For example, he advised me to stop paying for my wife's health insurance. That decision was later used against me during the divorce. My ex also stayed in our rental without paying and used that situation as leverage throughout the case. I never felt like my attorney was doing enough to protect my interests or push back. The most frustrating part was that there was almost no legal strategy. Most of the time he would just forward me an email from opposing counsel and ask, "What do you want to do?" That's exactly what I hired an attorney to tell me. I wasn't paying someone hundreds of dollars an hour to act as a mail forwarder. Eventually I lost confidence completely. I consulted four other divorce attorneys while I was still represented by Yuriy, and every one of them confirmed that they would have handled key parts of my case differently. In the end, I finished the case representing myself. He also seemed genuinely upset that I was using AI to better understand the legal process and double-check the advice I was getting. Looking back, I understand why that bothered him. Everything I've written here is documented. I have the emails, invoices, court filings, and correspondence. So if there's ever a response claiming this isn't accurate, I stand behind every word. If you're considering hiring him and want to verify anything I've said, feel free to find me online and reach out. I'm happy to share my experience. I honestly wouldn't wish what I went through on my worst enemy. Divorce is hard enough. Your lawyer shouldn't make it harder. Avoid!
