I wanted a tattoo on my left inner-forearm that was all written in a foreign language (Hebrew). While the design I requested was not intricate in terms of detail or color, it was incredibly intricate in that all of the text is so unlike our English letters. His work was fantastic. Knowing that I'd found the right place, I came back this week for a tat I wanted on my other inner-forearm. This design was very, very complex. I had a mock-up of the design I wanted and gave it to Chad. Understand this, Chad is old-school, and designs his tats by sketching them out free-hand. He made many suggestions during the process, and was receptive of the several requests I made. Because this particular design was so complex, Chad invested additional time in developing his sketch because, as he said, "This is forever." I've been inked in Dallas, Miami, and Los Angeles, and was a tad reluctant about OKC talent; no more. Honestly, Chad's work is better than any of my other tattoos. I have already referred a family member to go to Hard Luck Tattoos, so I hope you believe me when I say that you won't find a better group of artists to work with, anywhere. I'll be back with pics when everything heals up and the colors pop.

I've only been to.. 3 tattoo shops and this one is by far the best. But they were over a decade ago so sanitary standards have changed. The whole place is inside a cozy little home, converted into a designer place of business. I love it. Adorable. Jimi was there with his girlfriend, also adorable couple and very well mannered. Mine only had 3 colors, black, red and dots of white all in texts. Came out exactly like what I provided. Jimi has a very cool style, Japanese mixed with Chinese, but also versatile. Love his work on the wall. The response time on yelp is really fast. Either Jimi or Jude. And you'll get an appointment and seen as scheduled. If I had social media they'd be tagged. And so far my arm feels very normal and the colors are vibrant.

Boston did an AMAZING job on my scissortailed flycatcher tattoo…read more I booked him months in advance--in July, for an October appointment. That was a great first sign for me. I was recommended by a friend and had seen his work on Ig and FB, then found out he did a thigh piece for a coworker of mine (and it's beautiful!) I was super anxious and nervous but he was very focused and the attention to detail is just spot on. Also, the shop is CLEAN. I mean clean clean. The lobby, the bathroom, it was all very nice. The lobby had a roku TV so my bf was able to watch whatever he wanted on Netflix while he waited for me (huge plus!) I am so thankful and appreciative. It is just absolutely gorgeous tattoo and I LOVE it. I will definitely be booking him for the future.

The waiting area is very comfortable and professional, located at the front of the shop. The artists have their drawing area set up just behind the front counter, before you get to their actual tattooing areas. The bathroom is in the back of the shop, and again, super clean! There are amazing paintings throughout the shop, done by the owner! Zak, the owner, is skilled in all areas, but I especially love my black and gray tattoos that he has done on myself & my boyfriend! We get compliments on them everywhere that we go!!! He is very gentle while working, and makes good conversation to help take your mind off of any discomfort he is causing! Again, VERY talented!! Matt, the shop apprentice, has been with them for quite a while! He has watched both artist do almost every one of my tattoos. He is constantly working to keep the shop clean, and help the artists in any way he can, as well as improve on his technique and skills! He recently started accepting clients and I am eager to get tattooed by him in the near future! Really nice guy! Kevin, another artist in the shop, has done several tattoos for myself & my boyfriend too! He specializes in traditional tattoos, but is also skilled in many other areas. My boyfriend and I are almost completely sleeved out, and almost exclusively from tattoos done by the artists in this shop! You can trust your body to ZSR Tattoo & Gallery for a lifetime of lovely body art!

I've held off on writing this because I genuinely want to support small businesses. I get how hard…read moreit is--I'm a mom, a nurse, and an entrepreneur too. But after more than two years of trying to get my tattoo finished and five months of active follow-ups, I need to speak up. In April, I booked an appointment with [artist name] for my birthday. She canceled two hours before because she was sick, which I totally understood. Life happens. She even promised extra time and said she'd "make it right." That felt fair. But then... silence. For weeks. When I tried to reschedule, she offered me a date after I'd already told her I wouldn't have childcare. I had to rearrange my whole life to secure a sitter for May 23--and then she canceled again. This happened three times, all cancellations on her side. After months of being ignored--texts, Facebook, even TikTok DMs--I reached out to another artist at the same shop just to be heard. Suddenly, I got a response. We finally got a new appointment for September 6. Then came more red flags: * She asked for a deposit I had already paid--twice. * I sent screenshots to prove it. She still didn't update it until the week before. * I asked multiple times how much to bring. She didn't answer until less than 24 hours before the appointment, and now said $200 without counting the deposit or the promised extra time. The night before, while I was hosting my daughter's first birthday, she messaged to move my appointment. I didn't see it. The next morning at 9:51 AM, she said she couldn't be there at 11, my confirmed time. I was already on the road and had childcare secured. When I arrived in town and realized she wasn't even there, I told her how frustrated I was. She said I was canceling. No ma'am--I was on time. She wasn't. I ended up turning around and going home, out hundreds in childcare, gas, and cash I had pulled just in case. And when I asked for my deposit back? She sent me $25--less than half of the $55 I originally paid. Why I'm Sharing This This is not just about a tattoo. This is about boundaries, professionalism, and respect for people's time, money, and mental energy. Small business or not, if you can't handle your books, honor your word, or communicate with clients, it's not the client's fault. To anyone thinking of booking here--please be aware. I genuinely hope she grows and improves her process, but this ain't it. (I originally posted this as a review on FB but it was deleted and then I was blocked. Multiple people reached out to me within the hour though with the same conversation. They ended it with "I thought it was just me.)

I had a tattoo appointment today with Briar Thompson and, in over 40 years of getting tattooed,…read morethis was by far the most unprofessional experience I have encountered. Before the appointment, I sent him the design and paid the deposit but received no pre appointment instructions. I even reached out to ask basic questions such as whether I should shave my stomach for the placement. My DM went unanswered. When I commented publicly asking the question, he replied there saying that commenting was not a good way to communicate, despite the fact that my DM had already gone unanswered. On the day of the appointment I informed him I was running about 15 minutes behind while waiting for an Uber, since I had received no preparation instructions. He responded that the appointment was at 1 PM and that he expected to start on time. I apologized twice and even told him I would leave a tip for the inconvenience, which I did. During the tattoo itself, the work was fine, but I became physically uncomfortable because he repeatedly rested his entire arm across my pelvis area while tattooing. I was wearing gym shorts and no underwear and felt my personal space was being invaded. I froze in the moment because it was also the most painful part of the tattoo. Later, I privately messaged him in what I intended to be a light way of addressing it, mentioning his arm resting on my pelvis during the session. Instead of acknowledging the concern, he interpreted the message as if I were coming on to him, which was completely untrue. The reality was that I was trying to express that I felt physically uncomfortable during the session. Rather than taking accountability or addressing the concern professionally, he blocked me and left the tattoo unfinished after already requiring full payment. He can keep the money. I will gladly find a tattoo artist who communicates professionally, provides clear appointment instructions, respects personal space during sessions, and takes accountability when a client expresses discomfort
