FOR NNN IN WILKES-BARRE/PLAINS, PA Extremely disappointed with how the staff handled my cat's situation. My 7.5-month-old kitten came out of surgery with blood in his urine, and instead of helping, I was blamed for it. I take excellent care of my pets, I monitor their litter and behavior closely, especially after losing a cat to a urinary blockage in the past. I know the signs, and my current cat has shown none of them. Being talked down to and accused of negligence was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. My cat is well-fed, well-hydrated, and well-loved. I'm going to start saying this as I - for years- have used this place. it was well priced etc. the last animal i took there ( a cat) was my turning point there. she came home fine. but at a certain point developed a bubble filled with pus. have never had anything like this happen before that. she acted no different then the ones we have taken prior. i did not wish to go back there. for some reason, my husband pushed for them again. we took our dog there. the front desk individuals are quite rude. have no patience or personality. when informed of my animal having a specific flea treatment - the individual stated flat i would throw it away as it is toxic. I have googled. very little articles stating this. At no point have my vet of 15 yrs discouraged me from using this. I will never use this place or refer here again. read more

We have 2 gray and white tabby cats, both1.4yr old and from the same litter (brothers)! When it became time to get them neutered, our vet required us to schedule a wellness exam/ pre-op bloodwork first, and once the results were in, they could schedule a surgery day which was at least another 2-3 weeks out. I'm sure this is very standard but all of this, a-z, was estimated to cost us around $1,700+ on top of trying to work out our very hectic schedules to get them to these appointments. I also feel it's important to say the "estimate" could've exceeded over the $1,700.. for 2 young/healthy male tabby cats to be neutered. We love our vet and appreciate all they do but that wasn't reasonable to us at this time. My fiancé shopped around a bit for an alternative and came across NNN-Allentown, PA. When he told me how much money we'd save my heart dropped and anxiety kicked in because I thought, it must be that inexpensive for a reason and I would never take our boys, who we absolutely love, to a facility that might not give them the care I feel they deserve. He reassured me that he did some research, read the reviews and we could easily book an appointment online. He also reassured me that they perform these procedures very regularly (this is what they do day in and day out) and I shouldn't be that concerned. Afterall, we are only doing neutering procedures. After some back and forth we decided we would give it a try. There was a $50 deposit along with basic information on your pet to be completed, easy enough. Once our appointments were booked, there was email correspondence regarding instructions and preparation for surgery day, one of which was check-in/drop off time of 8:00AM-8:45AM for all animals having surgery that day. Surgery day came. We loaded up our boys in separate hard-case carriers (the hard-case is a requirement) and put them in the car. One meowed on and off the whole way there which made my anxiety a little worse. I'm not going to lie, when we pulled up, it definitely gave you that "arriving at a clinic" feeling. The building is tucked on a small alley-like side street with barbed wire, chain linked fence. When we walked in there was a line to get a clipboard and fill out your arrival paperwork. There were 2-3 women managing the "intake" for the pets. Once you give them your clipboard, they ask a few questions about your pet's health history/vaccinations and offer to provide any extra services such as a "due" vaccine, microchip etc. which in our case, we did have them do a rabies vaccine. They give you a white card with a stamped time of 4:00PM which is your pickup time. (There is a fee if you are late to pick up your pet!.. I believe it is $20). After leaving our boys with them, there was no further communication until pickup, which I could only assume was a good thing and meant everything went the way it was supposed to. We arrived and walked back into the check-in area where there were 3 other ladies waiting to pick up their cats as well. A few moments later, a clinic technician walks out from the back and briefs us on the surgery and aftercare for our cats. I gave her my last name and she brought out our boys! If you are an animal-lover, then you may understand how indescribable that feeling is when you finally get to see them, post-op, and know that they are OK and are coming home with you. No matter how routine or serious the matter is, that feeling is the best!!! They were definitely very "sleepy" and wobbly, so I scurried with them to the car to get them home and in a comfortable setting for recovery to begin. We gave them maybe an hour or so in the carriers before offering them food. One of them was ravenous!!!.. The other wasn't interested right away. Both ate though and settled down. Today is the morning after. They are both eating normal, using the bathroom and seem fine!.. If anything, they may just be a little sleepy still from yesterday but that is to be expected. Hoping over the next few days everything continues to go well and will be fully recovered in no time. I was very wrong in my pre-judgement of this facility. Yes, it is a clinic setting/location and yes, the women running the front desk may not always be overly friendly and chatty. In my personal experience and opinion, they were never rude. They are busy!!.. and have a strict time schedule to follow in order to ensure everybody's pet gets checked-in adequately and surgeries stay on-schedule. This facility has allowed my family and I to actually get this procedure done (after prolonging it for months) and they did it in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. If we have any post-op complications, I will write a follow-up review but so far, so good.. Very Special THANK YOU to the NNN Team for taking such good care of our boys!!! read more

This experience could not have been better. The staff was professional, kind and efficient. They took so much time with my dog who was terrified and tried to fear-bite the techs. They spent time calming him down and I was comfortable leaving him in their care. Side note: I thought I lost my Airpod when I was wrestling with my pup, and they ALL took the time to look for it and then walked me through tracking the individual Airpod on my phone (it was buried in my purse!) I've taken two dogs here to get neutered. First time experience wasn't much to tell due to covid. The one lady I dealt with was nice and the process was quick and my dog healed well! Second time things were different. The front desk lady was ignorant. I cant imagine if she can talk/treat paying customers like that how she is with the animals. The entire waiting time she was passive aggressive. Whether she was having a bad day or not shes in the field to handle stress/ and everyday things with kindness and ease. The energy and vibe didn't make my experience well this time. The lady in the back who handles the exam before surgery was super nice and seemed very caring. I found this in an attempt to help someone keep their family pet. $75 for a spading, immunization,ear cleaning,nail clipping in a clinical setting.....this is a wonderful resource. The ladies at the front desk were very kind. It is definitely a clinic setting, a little office a bit crowded but the cat is healthy and home with its family.There is one less relinquished/abandoned pet being loved in Atown. Consider volunteering, should the need to care for and love animals are a part of you, if you really can't afford to care for the animal properly($500-2,000 a year min). Please spade and neuter, adopt don't shop, don't get an animal if you going to give it away(yes life happens but I know people out there who traded them in like cars disgusting) it's a lifelong commitment...we just have too many unwanted and abused animals in Pennsylvania. Found this place in a google search because my vet charged a ridiculous amount. Here it is $75 flat fee & can include rabies shot if they dont have it already. Cash only! Took my 7 month old female cat here to get spayed. Very easy to make an appointment online. Got a phone call a few days later for confirmation. Then got a call the day before surgery for details and what to do. Brought my cat in at 8:00 am, pickup was at 2:30 but I for there at 2:10 and she was ready to go. They give instructions to you. Later that night, I had a question and called the # they give you & someone picked up right away to answer my question. Healing was fine and cat was back to normal within a few days! We have a precious English Bulldog who are SO high risk for complications or death during Spaying. Not only were they SO professional and kind, but she literally took one day to heal! She was back to herself in no time and we didn't go broke! I would recommend them to anyone! People who are unhappy obviously had animals with prior health conditions which is common among strays. I was worried about the care I would get from a place that take mainly strays as our pup has been with us since day one. But I can't tell you how grateful I am to no nonsense neutering (spaying in my case). Do yourself and you wallet AND your conscience and go to NNN!!! read more

I brought my foster dogs there today for spay and neuter. I received a phone call that while they were off checking on another dog, my dog stopped breathing. They attempted CPR, but they were unsuccessful. I don't know why they would leave a dog alone after surgery. I'm so devastated. read more

It is just an amazing place It is preferred for feral animals. If you bring one feral cat you just pay 35$ and you get the cat spayed, vaccinated ,tick treated and you do not have to make an appointment for in advance. Usually getting an appointment is not easy because takes a long time till you fill all documentation and also you have to wait on the line. The clinic is open even 2 Sundays every month. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. They told us to drop our dog off at 8:45 am and by 6:30 PM still had 3 dogs ahead of him. They choose cats before they start on dogs. Once I complained about why he was not seen yet they say do you want use to move him up. I told them no I am picking him up if I were to say yes he would have been there till 730 PM at least. Once it picked him up one of the techs said with smirking tone "maybe a private practice will be better for you " completely unprofessional. Will never recommend this place to anyone ever read more

The pros outweigh the cons by a landslide. Based on concept alone, I can certainly understand one's hesitation to try this place. However, once I did, I was so impressed that I have come to really rely on the services that these guys provide. Until very recently, I (like many others nowadays) lived in relatively close proximity to a hoarder of everything, including cats. Every now and again, a weaker cat would wander our way. The first two, we ended up taking to a vet and keeping. We weren't "cat people," but it was a hard winter, and we really felt for these guys. As word began to reach us about the hoarder's 50 cats, neighbors began complaining and trying to find ways to make this person a more responsible pet owner. No organization had the room or supplies to take the cats in...the SPCA, Animals in Distress, Forgotten Felines...you name it, they were called. It was a heartbreaking, frustrating situation. While this was going on over a couple of years, other cats would wander up. After calling a few vets, I soon realized neutering was too costly, especially for animals that weren't mine. I found NNN online and called them up. It's been a while now, but I remember the owner/founder/manager(?) actually coming out to my house and showing me how to trap one. She left a nice, humane trap that worked beautifully. A few years and probably 15 cats later, I owe much of my sanity to this place. Bottom line: Pros - It's inexpensive. The paperwork is a one-page form that takes 60 seconds to fill out. It's same day pickup (usually 3:30 or 4.) I've never had complications. They clip the ear neatly so that anyone will know the cat's fixed. It's all they do, so they know exactly what they're doing. Cons (though most of these are pros for me): You have to take your cat back. If you have hangups about your cat already potentially being pregnant, know that they neuter up until right before birth. The location - it's a hike from me, but check-in is between 8-9, so you have some flexibility. The staff really aren't a chatty bunch and can come across as all business (thus the "no nonsense.") That being said, who cares? You're not there to make friends They do a humane, clean job, and by the next day your cat seems to forget it even happened (same day, though, they forget they're even a cat. Very loopy.) I will never again go to a vet for this procedure. read more

I just adopted a dog that had been neutered at this chop shop a week ago. I hadn't picked him up yet and the foster who was watching him called me today to say his neutered area had started to swell and then bleed. She called their emergency line (which only accepts voice messages) three times--at 9am, 2 pm, and 2:30 pm--and never got a response. It says the messages are checked throughout the day but clearly they are not. She had to take him to another vet who said his wound was infected underneath the stitches--something that would have likely come from unsanitary conditions when he was neutered. How do you run a medical establishment with an answering machine that isn't checked for emergency complications? Really shady, stay away from this place. read more

I had my kitten spayed here at this clinic. I've gone to other places in other towns for my other cats years ago and always had a pit in my stomach leaving them. The team here saw my tears and did everything to help me feel better about my kittens visit and called me 3 times while she was in their care just to keep me updated. We took two of our rescue dogs to No Nonsense Neutering on Monday because we were supposed to have an appointment. (we have 2 every Monday). For some reason they messed up and we weren't on schedule. While he was there he overheard a staff member being very rude and ignorant to someone. We decided we should let someone in charge know and we wrote an email. It turns out the rude person is the president's daughter. Rather then admit that her daughter did something wrong, the president called us liars and told us to take our dogs somewhere else and then cancelled all of our appointments.Not to mention that she took this action without consulting board members and holding a vote. She also refuses to tell us who other board members are so we can let them know about her unprofessional behavior. I can't believe how unprofessional this woman is.Turning away dogs to protect your daughter is outrageous behavior. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. read more

I went to the Quakertown location which is a beautiful new facility, it was very clean and I didn't notice any foul odor as another poster commented. It was very chaotic, many cats and dogs all being checked in at the same time. The staff was great and did their best to get everyone in ASAP. They would not give anyone a pick up time but we were told they will give us an hour notice. Well we dropped our dog off at 930am and got a call at 330pm that she would be ready by 5. Pick up was much less chaotic and the girl that brought our dog out was awesome. She explained everything and spent a good 20 minutes with us. Our dog was very lethargic/loopy and that was upsetting but to be expected after a major surgery. Be prepared for that. Your pet will not be themselves and they will still be under effects of anesthesia. Also be prepared for e collar. It's a real pain but necessary. Overall we are very pleased and would def recommend them. Great service and a great price. read more

I went to the Allentown location and we had a good experience. Check-in and check-out was easy, professional and not busy at all. Our dog was not heavily sedated like another reviewer mentioned. In fact he was back to his puppy self that evening. By the next day you would not even know he just had a procedure! We followed the rules with the cone and he was all healed up in a week. I know a lot of people recommend this place for feral cats, and house cats however I would NEVER take another dog here again. I have two Siberian husky puppies, who are siblings so getting my female spayed was an absolute must. She is more laid back than my male so I figured it would be a good way to get an idea of how he would be felt with as he is very high strung due to his traumatic puppyhood. I waited almost 45 minutes to even check her in, and was then rudely told she couldn't come inside till she was ready to be weighed. It was 95 degrees outside and her hair is two inches long. They were very forceful when weighing her and complained that she was difficult, because they were scaring her. When I left they told me they would call me by 2pm to let me know how much longer it would be. By the time 4:30 rolled around I called to see if something had happened. A very rude woman answered and told me she would not give me an update as they were too busy and hung up on me. When I was finally contacted I was fuming and hurried to pick up my dog with my fiancé. When we got there, they complained that she was howling and noisy. She's a husky and was coming out of anesthesia. I told them how rude she was and they stared at me like I had 3 heads and I got a " Sorry." When we got her in the car we realized she was soaking wet with urine!! Her fur was so wet it soaked through my pants and onto my passenger seat of my car. Again they had no answer for me. They are very lucky she didn't get an infection. I would give it zero stars if I could. I will not be taking my male there as they were vet unprofessional with my female. Would not recommend. read more

Not worth it. Our german shepherd puppy has had so many problems after we got her spayed and dewclaw removed at this location. First thing, They didn't give us a big enough cone for her so she opened her foot stitches. After calling them multiple times and leaving several voice mails without any response, I decided to take her to our normal vet for an extra bill. It has been two months later and her stitches on her stomach have opened. she is our first puppy and more or less our baby. I wish I would have payed the difference and taken her to our normal vet instead of no nonsense neutering. read more

I took a 1 1/2 yr old female, medium sized, grey and white, Cat in to get spayed. The problem was that an infection developed under the 1st layer of skin and the it became very bad and I had to take the cat to Allentown Cat Clinic. They had to re-open up the incision and clean the effected area. The cat was in very bad shape and the ordeal ended up costing me $678 plus the cost of the spay. I tried to contact NNN, to see if maybe I could at least get my money back for the spay. No one every called me back!!! If I could select NO stars, in this review, I would, since the cat almost died and the vet and the technicians did very sloppy and substandard work on the cat. I am Extremely disappointed in NNN and will NEVER, EVER, go back there again!! Friends of Animals certificates allow you to use your "own vet " for the operation! I think that is a much better solution, for altering cats! The price is also cheaper, at $65 per spay, as compared to $70 for NNN. I don't know why I didn't go that route initially. read more

I've never written a review on any business even when the service was bad or people were rude, but now that my best friend, my boxer puppies life hangs in the balance I feel like I need to say something about the pieces of garbage that run this shitty run down excuse for a solution to the animal population problem. I took my pup to get neutered to prolong his life and lower his aggressiveness toward female dogs because he was getting a little out of hand when he was on his own. After the surgery my dog has not been the same and I don't think he ever will be. His surgery was completely botched and was done incorrectly and now has an infection due to the surgery not being performed the way it should for a larger breed of dog. I took my dog here because I believe in supporting the cause of non profit business to help control the animal population, but now every night when I'm cleaning up blood and hearing my dog cry and constantly have to wear a cone around his head, I will never let anyone but an actual professional see my dog. Fuck this place, fuck these people, and they will realize they made a massive mistake fucking with me and my dog. read more

We took our English Bulldog there to be neutered. They said they were experienced with Bulldogs and their breathing issues. We were called to come pick him up at 5 pm. We got there and apparently he had stopped breathing and they had to call the Dr. to come back. She came out and explained that he apparently got sick from the anesthesia and choked on his vomit. He was breathing ok now but she was concerned that the vomit may have gotten into his lungs. She suggested we take him to Quakertown Vet for overnight monitoring as a precaution. I do believe that he got sick because he was not completely out of the anesthesia - bulldogs need to be treated a little different and I think they rushed him because they were trying to get everyone discharged by 6 pm when they closed. We ended up getting charged an additional $500 for the trip to Q-town Vet which defeated the whole purpose of going to NNN and saving $$. I would not recommend this place if you have a breed that needs extra attention. read more
