Ambience was fantastic, serving staff were lovely but the food was not great.
Ordered a couple of seafood starters that were okay - a little bland, although the fish pancakes were a cool concept. We finished them and looked forward to our mains, which read beautifully on the menu... the Spicy Chicken and Pork Fillet.
The spicy chicken itself was nice enough - tasty, moist and well cooked, the kumara slab cooked through but tasteless, and a little bowl of steamed veg with no flavor at all... and for some reason a bit of lettuce, which had wilted due to the hot food.
The Pork Fillet was awful - not actually a fillet at all but thinly sliced pork loin (looked like a cheap supermarket schnitzel), very overcooked and smothered in a sweet apple/pineapple sauce sitting on a mound of mash. The mash was edible but not great, sauce was as good as you could pour out of a bottle but pork was inedible. Not even a $10 meal, let alone $30+.
Was offered a half-price dessert to compensate by the lovely waitress but didn't feel much like eating at that point.
Makes me wonder if they have an actual chef in that kitchen... seriously disappointed to pay for food like that as my husband and I don't get many child-free nights. Should've ordered pizza and stayed in. read more
