Stopped in for dinner while staying in the Coromandel area and ordered pizza and oysters and they were very good. The service here was excellent and attentive. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating in a back patio with tables for larger groups. My family had a relaxing dinner.

Delicious options and hopping during lunch time even though it's off season and a quiet town. Really enjoyed the mussel chowder - super fresh, lightly sweet and creamy bc of the sweet potatoes, and could be great just as a light entree since it's served with two thick slices of crusty bread. Choice of hot pots in the summer including chicken & mushroom, beef & ale, lamb curry, etc. Lovely choices of biscuits, muffins, quiches, cakes and tea/coffee. I also had the roasted veggie salad while my husband had fish & chips. The salad was very colorful and filling. Fish wasn't battered as expected but very light and panfried perfectly. Prices are a little high for a cafe setting for this NY'er but the quality is quite impressive so I don't regret the meal. (Two entrees, mussel chowder and one drink = 60 NZD) but not tipping helps. The service is also a bit slow for me but again that just might be bc we are from NYC. It did come with tons of smiles though. :)

A quaint little restaurant with a mussel selection that is as good as it gets. Green lip mussels done a varietyof ways is an excellent way to spend a lunch time. The steamed mussels were my favorite but the combo selection is great if you cant decide. The chowder is more of a pie than chowder but still tasty. This place was recommended by a local and we weren't disappointed.

We aren't fans of mussels but in Rome... So I really wanted to try some. Lunch menu had both chowder and steamed as well as a good range of non mussel dishes, many that were not the standard brunch range. Good free wifi made the wait seem too short. Dishes were generous and nicely presented. The steamed mussels were huge, succulent and in a delicious sauce.

We stopped in for a lunch of mussels chowder and sausage roll, both beautifully prepared and so tasty.

Nineteen Eighty One is a great local restaurant in Manukau, right opposite the Westfield Shopping…read moreCentre. It's a fairly new establishment in the area, but it's become a regular hangout for a few beers and very good food. You definitely feel the '80's vibe when you're there, and its always nice to see a little appreciation for that era. Their pizzas are delicious, particularly 'Rangi's Hangi' and 'Larry the Lamb'. They do a very nice caesar salad and my favourite main has to be the crispy chicken burger with aioli and melted brie- one of the best restaurant burgers I've had. They've got a good range of ciders and do a few cocktails to quench your thirst. They also serve most of their drinks in 600mL milk bottles, which is a really cool touch. I'd have to say that Nineteen Eighty One is best known for their fortnightly Wednesday quiz nights. The place gets packed and its always a good laugh- there's even a prize for the team that comes second to last.

The waitress was very friendly and informed us of the "Specials"…read more I asked if I could non alcoholic version of one of their cocktail's, she said no problem. We had the garlic cob for Entree. For Mains, My wife chose the Steak & Kidney pie with mash. I had the sundried tomato and feta cheese stuffed chicken fillet. My wife said it was the best pie she had ever eaten. I really enjoyed the stuffed chicken too. The decor brought back lots of memories.
