I debated between 3 or 4 stars, but settled on 4 because their eggs Benedict was the best I've had in NZ. Service was....ok...., but it's usually a little off-putting when I ask for sugar in my latte and they snap back at me to put it in myself. I get it, you DO have sugar on the tables, but it either gets trapped in the foam or completely sinks to the bottom. Meaning, I have a too-bitter latte up front and a way-too-sweet latte at the end. When a barista cares enough to mix everything in together, it really comes out to be the perfect latte. It also just takes 5 second for them to do. Why get pissy? Hopefully, eventually, I'll like my coffee without sugar. Until then, please help a sister out.
Other than that, food was excellent. Perfect amount of hollandaise on benny; loved the fresh spinach and basil as well. Husband's French toast was also great. Their toast is a thick, flakey thing that is hard to describe and delicious to eat. Not like american toast. It has more of the consistency of fluffy cornbread with a smattering of herbs and seasonings, and really is divine.
They open at 8, which is a little later than most cafes we've been to, but worth it for a delicious and hearty breakfast/brunch. read more
