There are many things worth noting about this store that are good. There was marginal mask wearing by the employees, about 50%, and about 25% by the customers. Both groups are thus inconsiderate, to themselves and to their customers, and to the related area. Mask wearing is a super easy way to reduce the spread and help us get back to work and play. It saddens me that in this somewhat christian area, known for its churches (many Mennonites work there, and Mennonites and Amish shop there, you can recognize them by their clothing and lack of mask), that they are not being kind, Christian, nor sensible. What would Jesus do? He would wear a bleeding mask. I did speak with the manager who noted that workers had been reprimanded. But within sight of us were two workers not wearing their mask close to correctly! One if left to ask, do they believe in food hygiene even, then? do they believe in food safety? If they won't follow some of the most necessary and visible public safety rules, what do they do when we are not looking? Do they "believe" in cold chain? Do they believe in the pathogen theory of disease? I guess I'll go back post pandemic, but I did lose a little faith in humanity in that the manager (the manager!) felt powerless to enforce public safety on her own employees. I cut my visit short, reported them to the PA Department of Health, and wrote this review. I will also have to be less sympathetic to groups of folks that do not support public health. I left sadly disappointed.

That's not so with this International Market in State College! They had a plethora of Mediterranean, South American, Asian, and European products. It can feel a little bit cramped but I was surprised by the amount of products they sell. There are lots of refrigerator and freezer goods too. The prices seem high for American groceries but as far as I can tell they are typical for an international market. I'd suggest reading other reviews and checking expiration dates. I'm new in town and have only been once but I understand they may not have high turnover for some products that may end up past their expiration. Just use your brain. I found what I thought I needed and asked the lady working if I could make kimchi with it and she said no, then walked me around to get the items I DID need and I really appreciated it! One cool thing is they serve fresh kimbap on thursdays (I think), and I hear it's usually very limited quantities but I've had it before and can vouch that it's delicious! They sell their own made in-house kimchi too which looked good. They have Korean specific ingredients but also some other things that are more generally used in Asian cuisine. They still recommend masking (something I think it's maybe time for us to move on from...) but they don't require it, just know if you go in unmasked you may get some unpleasant looks.
