Can't say whether I'd recommend or not, hence the middle of the way review. Emailed an artist directly prior to coming to town. I was responded to within a day and told they were booked solid /didn't have their books open. Made sense, high demand for quality artists. Was recommended to email the shop directly. Did so, received an automated response "Due to the volume of emails we receive, please allow us a few days to reply. We try our best to respond as soon as possible, but if you do not receive a response within an appropriate time, please feel free to call us" Well hard to say what an appropriate time is. That varies from person to person. Weeks later,never responded to. Hence the review. read more

Artist was Patrick Went into the Tattoo shop a few months back lookin to get some new ink, spoke to Patrick about what i was looking for, how big i wanted to go and what the price range i wanted was. I had told him between $250 - $400 for the full tattoo. Got a date left happily, After some time the date came around and it was time to get some fresh ink. Overall the experience was great until the end, When it came time to pay it was about 300$ an i tipped as well. Then came the news that another session was needed and it was going to be another $300 - $500 to finish the tattoo, which is not what we agreed to. This does not include the 100% Deposit i also put down on the tattoo, bringing the total price paid to $400 spent. The Original Agreement was for a $250 - $400 tattoo, not a $700 - $900 dollar tattoo. Nor was it told to me that the Artist i was seeing being the Shop Rate artist. Every artist i have worked with has always been a flat price by piece. I had to find out by a family friend. All and all, Patrick while nice and very friendly but the communication on price was not ideal at the consultation. I had a appointment for the 15th, which I've had to cancel because of the price. Next time it would be nice to know before sitting down that the price of the tattoo was way more then what was agreed too. read more

Great place to get a tattoo. We walked in to see if our very simple tattoos could be done. Patrick was very helpful and knowledgeable. We booked for Christmas Eve, but as we were walking out he had a cancellation, so we went in the next day. It was my daughter's and mine first tattoo, we were very nervous. We walked in and was welcomed by the staff. Patrick met with us to show us the stencils. We were very happy. Left there with happy and sad tears- due to the reason for our tattoos. I highly recommend Nite Owl and Patrick, but if he's not available I wouldn't hesitate to go to any other artist. Thank you for making us feel welcomed!! NiteOwl Tattoo far exceeded my expectations for a tattoo shop and I will 100% return for another tattoo/recommend this shop to family, friends, and Yelpers! I was extremely hesitant about getting my first tattoo because, ya know, it's permanent. I had been to other shops with various friends and was less than impressed. I ended up meeting one of the artists at NiteOwl when he did a caricature of me across the bar. It was amazing! We quickly became friends and when I finally made the choice on what I wanted my tattoo to be, I immediately ran to Patrick. He fit me into his schedule as soon as he could and made me feel as comfortable as possible when I got there. As he sketched, I waited with the other artists in the lobby who were not only nice, but incredibly humorous. I looked through sample books of their work as well and my GOD can these people draw/shade/tattoo! When I sat down to get tattooed, Patrick made sure it was exactly what I wanted and gave me his professional advice about size and positioning. The process was quick, practically painless, and came out EXACTLY how I wanted it. [I got the singer/songwriter of my favorite band to write my favorite quote from one of their songs and I got it tattooed in his handwriting.] The shop was VERY CLEAN! Everyone's individual stations were organized and everything looked brand new. Out of all of the piercing parlors and tattoo shops I've stepped foot in, this was by far the cleanest and most well-kept. They sent me home with some tattoo-goo and an instruction sheet on tattoo care. The price was very reasonable for the tattoo. Took the trip about 2 hours from New York to be tattooed by guest artist Kelly Doty. The shop is in a cute area amongst lots of other local restaurants and shops. A major plus for me was that the shop has its own HUGE private parking lot. No scrounging for under-the-seat quarters or running out mid-tattoo to reload meters! When you first walk in the shop is bright, clean and extremely welcoming. There's beautiful art on the walls from resident artists as well as other artists. The talent is clear as there's awards hanging everywhere from various tattoo conventions and when you see the work from these artists it is no surprise. Everyone was extremely friendly, including the guys at the front desk. I filled out some standard paperwork, met with Kelly to OK the design and the rest was history! The tattoo took about 6 hours and the entire time I felt completely comfortable and right at home. Everyone got along great in the shop and there was lots of laughter and banter. The area where the artists tattoo is all open and felt very comfortable and spacious. I really liked how everyone could see and talk to one another. My experience with Kelly, in particular, was fabulous. She is as nice and funny as she is talented. We had lots to talk about and as I made the trip alone, it was a pleasure to sit with her for 6 hours. I highly recommend her as an artist. I cannot recommend this shop enough! I highly recommend that anyone looking for a professional tattoo experience check these guys out. Be prepared to book in advance, although sometimes if you call ahead they may have some time for walk-ins. Can't wait to get back there for another tattoo soon. As a side note they are also a full service massage parlor which has its own beautiful, clean and tranquil space. I didn't utilize the services so can't speak to the quality, but I would expect it's nothing short of excellent. read more

This place is awesome. I had stopped in a couple weeks ago and made an appointment with Patrick that I had to cancel due to a mandatory meeting at work. I kept meaning to stop back in and reschedule but hadn't. Last night I was on a foster-mama-needs-a-break outing all by myself and ended up in Northampton, so I stopped in. Due to graduation weekend, it was super slow and the artists were outside playing a game. They are a super-nice group. I only had one tattoo before, and the place I went did an okay job but they had major attitudes so didn't want to go back. Totally opposite vibe at NiteOwl. They are all so friendly and welcoming. Love it there. Patrick did the design I wanted and got it done quickly and cleanly. It looks awesome, and I will for sure go back if I decide to get another one. read more

Fantastic experience with resident tattoo artist Shane Baker! Corresponded over email for about a month about a custom half-sleeve--he was fast to reply, courteous, and receptive of my ideas. The parlor itself is neat, clean, and organized. NiteOwl employees and artists are accommodating and polite. Shane's mock-up of the tattoo was everything I wanted and more. We got to work right away. Lineart in one session, coloring in another, background in the third, and finishing touches will be in the fourth. The rate is very, very fair for the quality of work. Cool and unique place to get a tattoo, the interior is full of eccentric weird shit. Front counter staff is very nice. Nice that they have their own off street parking lot. Nite Owl seems to cater to people that appreciate great tattoo art. Not full of first timers getting butterfly's on their shoulders or piercings. I didn't have to put a down payment on my appointment to hold it. Prices were great. My tattoo was $120 compared to the quote of double that Lucky's gave me. My artist Patrick got right to work, and didn't take any breaks. Love the death metal and hardcore music playing. Only thing I didn't like was the tattoo floor layout. I was nervous someone was going to bump the table I was laying on and mess my shit up. Place seemed clean with the reassuring lingering smell of bleach present. I was a big fan of Lucky's, but might be a bigger fan of NiteOwl. read more

Traveled 2 hours to get there. The shop has a lot of cool decorations. Billy the desk guy was super nice. I got tattooed by Lindsay, who was not only very nice, but also extremely talented. I lost my daughter at three months into the first pregnancy I had with my husband. After a year, I finally decided on the perfect tattoo idea: I wanted Snape's patronus, the doe, from Harry Potter and underneath that I wanted it to say "Always". My love for our lost daughter runs deeper than anything I could possibly imagine. If someone ever asks if I still remember her or love her, I'll say "Always". With that type of emotional pull weighing on the tattoo idea, I was nervous at what Lindsay Baker would interpret it as. She had done my husbands tattoo prior to this and did an AMAZING cover up. After our original consultation, she showed me the mock up and I immediately fell in love with it. I was also impressed by the level of professionalism and cleanliness of the entire shop. Everyone was friendly and was interested to see me getting a tattoo since I'm a tattoo virgin. Two hours later and I swear I felt my daughter right there and it took all I had not to cry from happiness. I may never see my daughter again but I at least have this token of her memory. I've heard many great things about this place...So i went to go see for myself! This was my first experience at a tattoo shop and my very first tattoo so i was nervous and didn't know what to expect. Me and my boyfriend were getting matching tats and we just walked in...(no appointment). The staff was VERY helpful and explained everything to us. I gave them a pic to go by and he came up with a sketch in a few minutes....Patrick did both of ours...he was very clean and professional...and fun to work with...he explained what he was doing seeing it was my first tat...I had an overall great experience here...i just got it done yesterday so its definitely gonna be healing for a while and i hope that goes well but as for now im very happy with their work and i definitely would recommend this place to anyone whether looking to get a first tat or or adding on to the many you have.
