It is small by tesco's standards, but it has everything you need and I know a lot of people who do their weekly shop there. Everything is competitively priced and they have fresh bakery products everyday. It is open seven days and week and stays open until 10 in the week, which is always helpful. Their own brand of food is really nice too and they sell a lot of fair-trade products. Everything is easy to locate and the staff are helpful. Recommended to all that live nearby.

(You'll have to sit down for a coffee in San Carlo and quietly appreciate it from across the road) Without wanting to deplete my secret chilli sauce supply, these guys do the best in the world! I also heard they may be leaving soon, so I would make the most of them while they're still here. Best limes in Banbury and they're lemon grass is to die for, If you like your chillis REALLY hot check out their range. Udon noodles, and Oyster sauce are also good buys from here as well as Jasmine and Green tea's. For the more accomplish east Asian cooks, I also get my spring roll pastry here and I've not found a brand to beat it in 15 years. They are owned by the same people as the Thai-orchid restaurant, so if you like the food there, but hate the cost (£30 a head!!!!) The Waitrose Cafe is standard though with a upscale twist to the available tea time treats and hot dishes. On my last visit lamb moussaka and rogan josh were the choices. Good cappuccino served with a gold foiled chocolate on the side. Nice touch!

The store is situated just out of town so the access is easy. The layout is really good and they have some great homeware pieces just as you walk in. They are part of the John Lewis chain so the items are not cheap but are really nice, and sometimes it is nice just to browse around this part of the store which sells furniture, electrical items, pictures and gift ideas as well as home furnishings anc children's clothes and toys. The food section is really well laid out too and although the prices seem a bit higher than places such as Morrisons and Tescos, you can often get things that you can't find in other supermarkets, so if you are looking for something special then I find this is a great place to visit. I do find the queues are higher in here than in other supermarkets, but the stafff are always really nice and cheerful. It looks a lot more higher class than other supermarkets but I do find that the price reflects this. It is a nice place but I don't think I could afford to do my weekly shopping here very often.

Shame this used to be a thriving business, either bad management or a severe lack of investment (or a combination of both). Go to sainsburys nearby, much better supermarket.

Out of date goods on the shelves, the first was a lemon drizzle cake 2 days out of date, the second was a birthday cake my daughter bought for her daughter, a working mum found the Harry Potter cake and it was only when she went to serve it and opened the box, realised it was out of date. Both these items were bought to be used on the same day as purchase. Very disappointed little girl. The first item returned received a response of 'sorry about that' as did the second. No assurance that the bakery section would be checked and staff asked to ensure stock rotation and removal of goods passed their use by dates . I worked for Tesco as a bakery supervisor a lifetime ago and we would have been in serious trouble if out of date stock was on the shelves,now it is shrugged off as normal. Very sad. Come on Tesco restore some confidence, check your shelves, remove out of date stock, customers shouldn't have to check dates of products - that's your job.

However, the recently refurbished Co-op offers a good range of products including those suitable for the 'green and ethical' consumer with a large range of Fair Trade products. Their fair trade coffee and chocolate selection is excellent. The CoOp offer some kind of reward card, although unlike all the other supermarket chains you have to send off an application through the post to obtain one.I've never managed to get round to it. The staff are usually helpful but are not always the most knowledgeable. There are also a lot of younger people working on the tills so when you want to buy any age-legalised products one of their superiors has to authorise it first which can cause a hold-up!
