Staff is generally friendly, but could be more attentive (not sure yet if this is a French thing ;-)) and do NOT, I repeat, do not wave your hand to get their attention - you will only be ignored more. Attire is a little dressy here - I would say smart casual (put on that blazer or high heels and lipstick - you will fit right in)
