I have stayed many times at The Grand Monarque when travelling to Chartres with work and often I end up just eating at their brasserie. The food is always delicious and kept in a French, yet modern style. There are always something on the menu that makes me curious - like the beet root carpaccio I had last year. You can really tell that a lot of heart and soul goes into making the food here. The restaurant has a winter garden ambience during the colder months and is open air during summer. Staff is generally friendly, but could be more attentive (not sure yet if this is a French thing ;-)) and do NOT, I repeat, do not wave your hand to get their attention - you will only be ignored more.
