Two bathroom ceilings needed to be painted. For some reason, the knockdown texture was flaking off after roughly 9 years. Darren from Ninja Painting (NP) was very quick in responding and provided a competitive quote. He patiently explained the process that was very helpful to understand the scope of what needed to be done. Darren completed the project on time (took 2 days) and we are very happy with the finish. *To be clear this review is merely regarding the conversation/interaction I had with this company--not on their actual painting work, not a rant and it is truthfully what happened* I reached out to them because I need an exterior house painter and some exterior work done on my home and am trying to get some estimates. They had good reviews and solid examples of the work done so I contacted them through Yelp letting them know what I was looking for and asking for a cost estimate. I was unable to attach my house pictures to the Yelp request so Darren gave me his email and I was able to send them to him that way. They are busy so it took a bit of time between emails, understandable. In short spring/summer/fall is their busiest time and because I live in Vancouver he was unwilling to give me even a price range for my job. He advised that I use a Vancouver based painting company (they apparently only service Portland which should have been clear on their website and on yelp, which it wasn't)!! To say I was annoyed is an understatement, but painting companies are a dime a dozen and I can wait to find the right company who actually wants my business--I am in no rush just trying to get some estimates. So if you are considering this company you are going to need to know a few things: * they DON'T WANT your job if it's in WASHINGTON, Portland is ok, I guess? ( I was told to "get a VANCOUVER based company"....I quite literally live just past the 205 bridge-- I cannot get any closer to PDX and still be in WA) * they may or may not give you a price range even if you ask for one and give pictures. ( But the owner will send you an email stating you have been unkind in your review, and will tell you they are too busy to do drive by estimates, even though you never asked for one and had already sent pictures....) * You are really going to be scratching your head wonder how they got all those amazingly happy customers after your interaction. * After you put your own honest, personal Ninja Painting experience in a review, expect be called "unkind" and that your interaction was a "rant" and that you sounded "irritated" in your emails. *And lastly, this guy needs a secretary to keep track of the requests made of his company so he doesn't get requests confused. There is a very simple way to deal with too much work and it goes like this: "Hey "possible client" we are very busy at the moment as this is our busiest time of the year. We are currently booked out until ****** Pls leave your name, information, and house pictures. If we get openings in our schedule in the future I will contact you to see if you still need assistance with painting." Very simple and polite--this should allow you to avoid all this unpleasantness in the future with others. Customer service is important. read more

We recently bought a house and the inside was in dire need of painting. We contacted five different companies and Ninja was the most affordable for what we were looking for. I hired Ninja Painting to paint the inside of my home. Darren and team did an excellent job. Darren helped me pick out and evaluate the color before investing in paint (he has some great techniques for putting samples on the wall without actually painting the wall). They had to push back the start date a couple of times, but Darren was responsive and communicated these delays in advance and with professionalism. Summer is a busy time for painters and contractors, so I found it completely reasonable. Once started, Ninja painting did their best to accommodate the schedules of the residents in the building. While I haven't officially hired Ninja Painting yet, I definitely will when I need painters. 2 times now, I thought I needed painters to put a fresh coat on all interior walls of a large rental unit, and then an exterior fence: I decided to power out the interior painting myself with my husband because of other unexpected repairs to that rental that gobbled up the funds we had to work with; and the exterior fence ended up getting bundled in with a different contractor.
