So so bad. There were so many things that went wrong, and can't recommend this place to anyone. 1. They started my service 30 mins after my appointment time that I had booked in advance 2. The man that did my nails seemed to be in a hurry to begin with. This should've been the first red flag.. 3. No cuticle care. All he did was clip my nails and then buffed out the nail. Nothing was done for my cuticles that were very clearly growing into my nail. At this point I started doubting whether he was even certified. 4. I booked gel-x (more expensive than acrylic which will come into play later), but he started doing acrylics. I should've spoken up, but I was admittedly distracted talking to my friend. 5. He didn't shape them well at all. The almond was too thick and not consistent at all. I asked him to make it less thick and he barely did anything to them. 6. The acrylic application was uneven and chunky. There was still remnants left under my nail too. He also applied acrylic to my skin. At this point I had given up and accepted the fact that I needed to fix them when I got home. 7. I asked for an ombré and he did some weird brush strokes. Again, I could've said something but at this point I felt defeated. 8. They charged me for gel-x even through they ended up giving me acrylics. I ended up paying $85 for literal crap on my nails. I was too heartbroken and embarrassed to take pictures, but I was left with chunky nails with a weird stroked pattern, and acrylic remnants all over the rest of my fingers. I had to go home and spend another 3 hours fixing it myself. This place is a waste of time and money. Do not go. read more

Overall, I had a lovely experience here. I got a pedicure before school starts, feel relaxed and the prices were good. I had a deluxe super pedicure for $40 and it was really lovely. I'm a big fan of how they use a clean tool pack each time, a plastic basin lining for each customer, etc. The pedicure itself is good, but my big toe has little bubbles under the top layer -- I didn't want to ask her to undo and redo it. He was aggressive while trimming my cuticles resulting in cuts and pain that continued for several days. He did a very poor job of shaping my nails. I went there today for the first time. I got my nails done with Billy, and it was terrible. He was rude and treated my hands like if I was a farm animal. Every nail is unevenly shape, he was so rough that my cuticles are sore and sensitive. When he applied the clear top coat, it seems that the nail coat was old and thick and it dried unevenly. It looked like if a 3-year old did my nails. I asked him if this was the standard of quality of his job, and he pulled my hand angrily and started to filed the top to remove the coat and re-do it. These ladies do all types of nail treatments so the air space was a bit chemmy for my sensitive system, but I went in for a manicure during a slower time (4pm Saturday) and my allergies were totally manageable. I was very impressed with my service at Nini. A friend and I went in for mani/pedi's and the entire experience was great. The nail technicians were super friendly and did wonderful jobs. We got the super deluxe or premiere or something pedicure, and let me tell you, it was amazing. Hot stones, hot bath towel wrap, massage. I was in heaven. I love Nini Nails! If you haven't been in there recently, I would recommend coming back. They remodeled the pedicure section, new chairs, closed off area. The pedicures are reasonably priced, and the quality is spot on. No bubbles or blemishes in the polish. I also appreciated the nail technician asking if I liked the color before applying the polish to every nail. I like that you can now book appointments online. Previously I had to call to schedule. I got five cuts and he filed a way to download to my nail and it was just super rough. I've been coming here for about a year but recently decided to go back to my former salon. Nini's is reasonably priced, has tons of colors, and it's very easy to get an appointment here (I can usually get it that day - plus they take walk-ins), but their brands of nail polish are inconsistent. Some are excellent and last all month, but some are just awful. Two weeks ago I paid around $45 for a pedicure (including tip), and it started chipping after five days. By two weeks later, half the polish was gone. I'm sure it wasn't the technician's fault because she did exactly the same thing that she (and others) always do, I think it was probably a subpar brand of polish. If you know your brands, you may be fine, but I don't. I decided to not go back here because I don't want to risk this again. I'm going back to my former salon where they only carry higher-end polish. read more

Got my long awaited, heavenly mani pedi from Nini, the owner, today. My nails were a wreck, and she made them look so nice. That was not all, She greeted me with a hug. I leaned back, closed my eyes and let her pamper me and take care of me for a hour or so. She knows how to work fast, but when I go, she takes her time, massages my hands and feet and makes me feel great. I left feeling sooo happy and relaxed. it's sandals season! A group of 5 of us made appointments for a Friday afternoon (made 2 months in advance), as we were in town for a wedding. We walked in, told them we had an appointment, and they told 3 of us to sit down and wait, as there were only 2 employees free to start pedicures. How odd, considering the sign at the register says they work "by appointment only." About 5 minutes after we walked in, another woman found herself in the same boat: with an appointment and nobody free to do her nails. They got us all going eventually, but unfortunately it wasn't really worth the wait. I've had far better manicures. I already had hangnails two days later, and the gel polish started peeling from the edges within 2 days as well. Maybe I'm spoiled by manicurists in Beverly Hills. Who knows. But I would definitely look elsewhere in the Madison area. I was very disappointed. I went in for a basic manicure and pedicure and it was a waste of my money. The pedicure spa was very clean but the quality was very bad. The nail polish selection was very limited and low quality. I did not want gel polish but the owner keep pressuring me to get it. Gel polish is not for everyone. I could have done a better job. My adult daughter & niece were excited to get mani & pedi's and the lack of professionalism and kindness in customer service lacks immensely at Nini Nails & Spa. The two nail techs not only laughed and talked amongst each other while doing their feet, they knew they were making fun of them. My daughter is a young woman of color and her nail tech proceeded to ask if she had enough money to pay for the services but then proceeded to ask if she knew the teen boy who was recently shot and killed in Madison. What was to be a bonding experience for my daughter and her cousin who wash here for out of town turned into less then a fun experience. They were uncomfortable with how they were treated. Clean and lovely. They use new tools each time and the pedicures are set back so it's quieter. They provide and menu with additional services and prices so you are not surprised. I've been to Nini Nails three time now. My first experience was nice; although, I had never had a pedi before so thought I was in heaven. The 2nd time I went, we had an appointment scheduled with 4 women for a birthday over our lunch hour. We had called in for the appt. When we got there we found that there was another group who had scheduled an appt for a birthday also at the same time as ours. It ended up being an uncomfortable situation because everyone was wanting to get their pedi's done at the same time, much scrappling to see who would be done first. Our pedi's were, of course, rushed, and disappointing. The third time I went with my good friend which we scheduled after work for 5:00. There weren't very many clients there but I still felt we were rushed. No time at all to soak our feet, and one of the pedicurists seemed annoyed with having to do a pedicure. My friend kept flinching because the pedicurist was clipping too short. After our pedicures were finished, they walked off, assuming we would know what to do. I'm still new at this so wasn't sure. After 20 minutes I was asking my friend if we were supposed to leave, supposed to put our feet under the lamps, what exactly was it we were supposed to do. After another 10 minutes we figured we were supposed to pay and leave. And, of course, we tipped. I'm still wondering why I tipped. My daugher, who is more experienced, gave me suggestions of alternative nail salons which I will definitely pursue. I was told that they weren't accepting appointments because of the holiday weekend and when I arrived i was told a hour wait. As i waited i was told to come back hours later because there was too many appointments booked (huh?). Was given a 5:30pm appointment time, that i never cancelled, but when i called before coming in I was then told that my appointment was given to someone else. ALL I WANTED WAS A POLISH CHANGE ON MY FRESH ACRYLIC NAILS!!! The phone was hung up on me multiple times. One time I brought in my foster daughter, who is only 12 but big for her age, and ask the woman how much it would be to paint her nails. The woman kept constantly stating that my 12 year old foster daughter, who is already self-conscious, had very large nails & hands so she would be charged as an adult. I do not recommend this place! The girl I had would NOT speak! It was fine however I had some requests. she only did 2 coats, it was Christmas red so I wanted 3. It was sloppily done so I had to ask for her to go back and fix the edges. The place is so outdated it promotes very long Mortisha type nails. OMG - my last pedicure was here in early August. Every preceding pedicure I have had has been here. I needed a new one, but decided to go to my local place. My local place does not have the comfy chairs, but their prices are the same and I wanted the proximity. They JUST removed my polish and I have a MAJOR FUNGAL INFECTION. Obviously, it is from Nini. So, it remains sandal season and I cannot wear polish. I also need to treat the infection. I will never go back. I blame myself. I always get there, and immediately close my eyes because of the comfy chairs. Who knows how long it's been there? UGH. They either don't clean well, or the polish they use is infected with fungus. I'm really disappointed with the manicure I got today. The artist was hasty and I felt as though she was rushing to get me out of her chair as fast as possible. I felt this way at first during the pre-paint processes, as the artist spent less than 5 minutes sculpting the nail and cuticle, but I have her the benefit of the doubt and let it go. In retrospect, I wish I would have said something about my preferences right away. I usually and excitedly choose Essie polish when I go to a salon because I find it's difficult for me to paint on evenly. Until today, I've always been very pleased and impressed with the way past manicurists have been able to apply the polish. Today - and granted, it could have been this particular polish - the woman finished the first coat with tons of streaks but assured me a second coat would take care of it. The second coat looked just as bad, and the polished clumped and bubbled. She began to start a third coat when I asked to switch the polish to assure that I wouldn't have peeling nails in a matter of hours. The woman did this graciously, and I know she was frustrated by my timely request but was nice about it - something I appreciate. But the second round of paint was just as rushed. The edges are uneven, the paint has bubbled and is all over my cuticles. I'm bummed, especially because I've been to this salon before and had a good experience. Plus, I just graduated from college and am as broke as ever but still always generously tip....I'm not sure if I will go back anytime soon, but would be willing to give it another chance. read more

The place is nice and clean & staff are friendly. I went with a friend and we both had a spa pedicure. The foot/leg massage was good. The massage chair was also nice. However, we both had issues with the completed pedicures. They missed painting the corner of one of my toes. My friend wound up with loose skin on the bottom of her foot which wasn't removed. Avoid at all costs! Made an appointment yesterday for 11:00 am brow wax. Showed up today, told them I had an appointment at 11, and they said "we're busy now, come back in an hour" .... What? I've been to many, many salons across the country and never had people tell me to come back in an hour when I showed up for an appointment. Confused, I said, "No, i have an appointment" they said, "yes, but, we're busy now." Hmmm...... Beyond annoyed that I biked out there to have them tell me to come back in an hour. Did it cross their minds that people have other stuff to do that sit around and wait? Or leave and come back? Hence the concept of an appointment. Not to mention they were just totally rude to me during the entire conversation. Piece of advice - pay the extra $5 and go to a place that honors appointments, knows what 'customer service means.'
