I ordered food on accident to the other location; I didn't realize this at the time. When I went in to pick up my food they said oh you probably ordered at the other location. I called that location and asked to cancel that order as it would have made my trip an hour (round trip) they said you could cancel but that they were in the process of making the food. I said I cant cause of said trip and that I mean to order at the other location and would like to. At which point the hung up abruptly. I went inside to which the store in battle creek called the one in augusta to bar me from ordering. I was told I can't order since I had an order in progress. What amazing service!!!! I could have conceivably had the other person in my car go in and order, but I did (what I thought was right) and cancelled so I could order to the restaurant I mean to. Needless to say, I will never go to this establishment, happy they didn't have my card information because I'd expect some charges on cancelled orders. Don't go there mistake number one. read more

Nina's is a great little local spot for authentic Mexican. It offers an extensive menu of made-from-scratch foods with options not found in American versions of Mexican restaurants, such as cactus fillings instead of meat. I am grateful that the menu items are numbered because there is a lot here that I can't pronounce! Service is fine, prices are typical, the decor shows a lot of effort even though the building is shabby. But you don't go here for any of those things. You go here simply for the MENU. read more

I used to come here to spend $16-$18 on lunch for myself. I would get two shrimp tacos and a flour quesadilla. The shrimp tacos were the best I've had in Michigan. On Tuesday I had the shrimp tacos like I usually do. Something was wrong with the shrimp. Kinda shocked that they came out that way. I won't be going back, and think there are much better places. First time eating here in a long time. My family and I stop by for lunch after traveling. The server was very rude and not welcoming at all. She slammed our cups on the table rolled her eyes at me when I asked to add an order of rice and beans. When the food came out she just tossed the plates on the tables as well. We snuck into Nina's before a Barn Theater show to grab a little something. The place is a bit tight on space and cleanliness leaves a little bit to be desired but the food never disappoints here or at the Battle Creek location. We just got nachos and tacos but they were yummy. Their cheese sauce is tasty and we could have put it on anything. The servcie here is always quick and smiley. I wish they had fountain drinks and a liquor license. There is something to be said for having a margherita with your Mexican food. read more

Stopped in to get their steak burrito which was pretty good. Steak had a perfect crisp and was not chewy however, I still cant get over how a burrito with no sides cost $16! They also failed to mention their beans contain lard and when I requested whole black beans instead they were out of it. read more

Dios mío, me encanta Ninas! I must say I've had my fair share of Mexican food, from street tacos in Mexico, to blah Qdoba, to nom nom nom BTB, to even Mom's homemade tacos (sorry Mom), but Ninas is by far el Rey de comida Mexicana, in other words, its legit. During my childhood growing up, we would often frequent this little whole in the wall gem, located only about a 10 minute drive from my parents house, and never did I realize what a fantastic little place Ninas was until I moved away from home, and could never find anything that even came close to Ninas. Many Mexican restaurants I've been to have good fajitas, but bad salsa, or great tacos, but not so great burritos, or great salsa, but awful everything else; when you come to Ninas, you don't have to make any exceptions, because everything is phenomenal. The salsa, the fajitas, the tacos, the prices, the drinks, the small place ambiance, it all goes together so well, like a well orchestrated symphony, it makes me tear up just thinking about how much I will miss it before I go home again. It makes me feel good inside knowing some lucky person will read this mediocre review, and go check it out for themself, and their smile after eating a meal will light up the world with joy and happiness. As good as it gets.....in the area. It's not the best Mexican Cuisine I've had but boy am I happy Nina's exists. Reason being, I work near by and the food options are nil, poor, non existent other then maybe a McDonald's or something 15 minutes+ away. So when the options are slim at my company's 'cafe', its off to Nina's we go!! Guaranteed to see others from my work there as I have each time I've dined. I've yet to try the super burrito but have had the 13, 20, and 27 along with a slew of items from the a la carte menu, all very tasty. Just make sure you ask for the homemade green jalapeno sauce, that stuff rocks. I should mention that Nina's does appear from the outside that it is a divey Mexican joint. First thing: they had great chips and salsa, both regular red table salsa and their hot green salsa in a plastic bottle About my entree: Was really hopeful it would have been better based on chips and salsa... But when I heard the sound of the beep that only a microwave could produce, I knew I was in trouble. My enchiladas were rubbery and the cheese was all weird, confirming my sinking feeling about the use of a microwave and my dinner. This would have easily been 4 stars if they didn't use a microwave and found another way to heat / cook / melt everything. Beans were great. PLEASE NINAS, STOP USING THE MICROWAVE. Ninas is my Go-To Mexican Restaurant. The place has had some updating in the last year and is now starting to come together. The food has always been spectacular here. I usually mix it up every time I go, but number 14 (Enchiladas) is my favorite. The Super Burritto is large enough to feed a family of 4 and cost less than $10. The bottled coke is a great compliment to any of their dishes. Service is fast and always friendly and the hot sauce selection is top notch. I would reccomend Ninas to anyone looking for excellent Mexican food at a fair price. read more

Best authentic Mexican in the greater Kalamazoo area. I've come to love El Gallo Blanco, but Ninas is one notch better. The dining room is small, colorful and charming. I had the super burrito (loved it) and cannot think of better metaphor to describe the size of this dish. All the ingredients are fresh and the chips and salsa are some of the best I've ever had. Felix was my server and he was great (his arms are the size of the super burrito by the way). This Taqueria is in a little one light village. I highly recommend going straight to the back of the menu to the A La Carte options - Authentic Tacos - I had lengua (tongue), tripa (intestines) and pastor. The chips and salsa were really tasty - homemade for sure - the chips are really thick and the salsa has a nice spice level and a vinegar tang. I should have brought some chips home for chillaqueas. The tripa tacos were better than average. The tongue tacos were average for tongue, but if you have never had tongue, it is the BEST. Very tender and stewed with flavor. But the best by far were the pastor tacos - marinated pork!! SOOOO good and cheap to, about $2 each...and very generous taco portions. read more

Awhile back my son sustained a serious injury at school and went to the hospital. By the time my wife, children and I left the hospital it was late and we we're exhausted, upset, and STARVING. Nothing appeared to be open, but as we drove by Nina's it appeared to be open so we pulled in. As we approached the door we noticed that they had just closed and the staff appeared to be putting the finishing touches on the daily clean up. When the staff, who were all exceptionally warm and friendly, saw us at the door they came out to tell us they had closed an hour earlier. To our amazment when they heard our story they offered to quickly open back up with a limited menu so we wouldn't go home hungry. The food was delicious. They even gave my son a special desert and a special hand made get well card. read more

For my money, Nina's puts out the best tasting, real-deal Tex-Mex in SW Lower Michigan. We first went out of our way to visit this little taqueria in 2006 on a recommendation from a friend. It's a 22-mile drive to get to Nina's from our place and I figure we have made that trip a little over 200 times since the first time. Worth every mile! Never once a bad meal. Their Enchiladas Verdes are every bit as mouthwatering as what I've had in South Texas, Arizona, or SoCal. All scratch-made. The ONLY thing lacking here is a liquor license.
