Showed up for an appointment today with my daughter to shop for a prom dress. The staff was 25 minutes late, this should have been my first indication of a poorly run business. We were instructed to choose THREE dresses from an ipad - some of the images were only sketches. Once my daughter chose the three dresses, she tried them on but didn't like any of them. She asked to try on another dress a young girl was trying but was advised that we were only allowed to try the original three. I told the owner that it was ridiculous and that a potential sale of close to $500.00 would be lost without more choices. The owner said that was fine and they had lots of sales within the three dress limit. I left the store and went to The Perfect Dress a complete different experience. I went her a week ago to get a prom dress. I didn't think I'd find my dress here, after going to only one store before, but I did! the service was so friendly and they have all of their designs on iPads which was very convenient. don't be afraid to try on dresses because the designs look quite different compared to the actual dresses. I would not recommend going to this store not at all !! I went with my girlfriend to look at prom dresses. First walked into the store shoes everywhere store cramped. We were told to look on the iPads to see the dresses everything looks different in person. The dresses they had looked nice but not worth the money that you will be paying for the dress. After all if this we wanted to give them a chance so my girlfriend went to to on a dress. The girl Eva that was helping us never asked the size she is or measured her. Anyway the girl grabbed the dress and then girlfriend tried it on and she looked good so I wanted to take a picture then I was told rudely that I was not allowed to take pictures and when I asked why she said because she told me that's just the way it is if you want to take a picture you'll have to buy it first . To us that seemed really weird that we couldn't take pictures of the dress. Then we looked at each other and said let's go somewhere else and Eva said yeah you better take off the dress and go somewhere else. She was so rude and not professional at all. read more

FIND A PROM DRESS: Very, very disappointing experience with Nina herself. HERE WE GO! Came armed with Xerox copies from another www for suggested styles since printing from her VERY confusing and non-functioning www did not work for me. The abruptness in her approach for this second visit and now first appointment was astonishing right from the start with a condescending rushed tone. I used the word "sheath" (columnar or straight cut to a dress) and Nina had to ask her assistant "what is sheet?" After I spelled it out, he didn't know either. Hmmmmm, odd for designers to NOT know this basic style of dress. UGH-LY: After being asked the budget, Nina said the usual prom dress ran $350-$500. Yup, we were now on the downside of the appointment in this claustrophobic do-not-touch-anything but-the-iPad studio. She then went to the 10-foot (3 m) rack that held the dresses marked at the price that we had indicated, pulled out one grape-coloured dress and said this was ALL she had. This was the last straw, it was ugly. CUSTOMER SERVICE: None! Sadly, in this cramped domain, we felt verbally bashed and smashed = not a pleasant time! We walked out after the 5-minute negative-energised appointment and found a perfect dress elsewhere ~ within Mississauga and our budget. I write this first-ever-for-me YELP review because I have NEVER ( in 55 years of shopping) ever had such a degrading and rude approach. Unfortunate. Hopefully Nina will rethink her approach. Raphael was the rudest man I have ever met! His customer service was absolutely terrible!! Luckily Anna and the bald gentleman were nice. The day my daughter and her 3 friends went to try on dresses, we arrived shortly after 4 and waited until around 5:20 to try on dresses. My daughter and one of her friends tried on dresses and loved them but wanted to shop around the next day before making the commitment. It was now 6:05 and Raphael was telling us that he was on overtime and wasn't staying late so the girls could try on dresses if they weren't buying. Meanwhile guests in line had been served before us. So we left. The next day, my daughter and one of her friends went back and bought their dresses. They wanted to try the dresses on again and we waited for another hour or so. My daughter needed alterations and decided to add some gems at the waist of the dress to fancy it up a little. The dress was advertised on the iPad for under $350 but we were rung up at over $500. When we questioned it, we were sold the dress for $349, as close to $350 as you can get. We paid for a sticky bra, alterations and 3 strips of rhinestone to be added to the dress and it was $617. I thought it would be best to have the alterations done there right instead of finding somewhere else to have it done. Our service that day was better because we were spending money. When we returned 6 weeks later, my daughters dress was not right. Instead of three single strands of rhinestone, there was a double strand at the waist. Anna was serving my daughter and said not to worry and that they would have it fixed in a couple of hours. Mistakes happen, it would have been an inconvenience to have to go back, but not much we could do. So then Raphael had to get involved. Trying to convince my daughter that double strands would be better because they would not be wavy. The double strand was already wavy because it was not sewn on straight. I pointed this out and was told it was the best job that they could do! So it is not right and it was poor quality work. Then he had the gull to say that I hadn't paid for all the alterations. They were three layers of hem and I only paid for two. I had paid for the rhinestone but not for having it put on the dress. He wanted $51 dollars more. I argued with him that this was the price we had agreed on and had paid to have the dress the way we asked for it. He told me that I couldn't expect that the seamstress would do the work for free. I told him he should be absorbing the cost since it was their mistake not mine. He was so rude and wouldn't back down that I ended up paying the extra money, but told him I wish I could tell him to stick his dress up his ass but I couldn't afford to go get another one somewhere else. This is out of character for me. I am a nice person, but I refuse to be treated like dirt and taken advantage of. I was literally shaking and my blood pressure was through the roof. I then told him that when we returned to pick up the dress that we wouldn't be waiting in the line to try on the dress again. Raphael agreed. Unfortunately the nice gentleman was not at the store at this time. The dress was ready in a couple of hours but we had other plans for the day so we went back that evening when it was convenient for us. The nice gentleman seen us coming and grabbed the dress, obviously aware of the scene from earlier. He went to hand me the dress to get rid of us quickly but I said that she was going to try it on again. I was told I would have to wait again, and I said no! Raphael said I wouldn't have to wait. The nice gentleman spoke to Raphael about it and he said, "I am not kicking people out so she can try on the dress and that I had FORCED him to say that we wouldn't have to wait". I didn't expect him to kick someone out of the change room, but she could have been served next. We did our share of waiting and she shouldn't have had to try it on again if it was done right. He had just ripped me off earlier in the day, so I thought maybe we should have been compensated by not having to wait again. I was so angry!!! I needed to get out of the store before I really lost it!! I stormed over, grabbed the dress, said I had never been treated so rudely. The nice gentleman was confused why I was so angry, so I stopped at the door and told him the story. He had been told a different story from Raphael. He gave me my $51 back. Luckily he knows what good customer service is!!! Raphael was not happy about that! So my daughter never tried her dress on again at the store. She went to try it on at the hotel room and there were two gems in the bottom of the bag that I am not going to have to pay to have repaired. Raphael wrecked the entire experience for us, and every time I look at the dress I get angry all over again. Will never be be back! Do not recommend!! Thank you to Anna and the nice gentleman. An incredibly stupid way of doing business. You come in, are forced to look at dresses on Ipads-- while there are racks and racks of dresses hanging everywhere that you're not allowed to look at, or choose to try on. Then you have to take pictures of the Ipad pics, bring them to the very rude, obnoxious staff whose arrogance knows no bounds, and let them bring the dresses to you. If I wanted to shop for my two daughters' dresses from pictures, I'd have used the Internet. We left as soon as we found out their procedure and were admonished for trying to look at rack dresses, because, you know, a dress in PERSON is a very different matter from a dress in a PICTURE. Who'd a thunk?!!! We went to Marla's at Square One, where both daughters were allowed-- AND encouraged-- to try on lots of dresses and found perfect dresses for both. We bought them, brought them home and were very happy. read more

My daughter and I had been looking for a prom dress and had been unsuccessful after numerous attempts and driving as far as Buffalo! Someone had suggested Nina's and we are thrilled we went there! When we walked in, Anna advised that we can view the dresses on the iPad, and that all of them were in the store. We had no idea if the dresses were too expensive, but she showed us an album (on the ipad) with a huge selection within our price range... and very beautiful! We walked in there very frustrated and tired of shopping, but Anna had great patience and suggestions to help us find the perfect dress!! The other gentleman was also very helpful and pleasant! Unless you are looking for a SUPER glitzy dress I would not recommend this store. This store is more for glitzy prom dresses and pageants. I personally did not like the experience. Would not recommend this place to anyone and would give it zero stars if I could. We had an appointment to try on prom dresses - my daughter was only allowed to try on 3 of the ones she liked. The sales guy was the most aggressive and obnoxious sales person I have ever encountered. My daughter wanted to try on one dress a second time and he said "are you committing to this dress today ". My daughter was caught off guard and said she just wanted to see it a second time to see if she liked it enough. I said "does she need to commit to it just to try it on a second time?" He said "usually, yes". That was enough for me. What teenage girl can make a decision on a dress after wearing it for 30 seconds? Especially when the dress was double the price of anything else she had tried on. She wasn't even allowed to take a picture of it. Ridiculous. There are way better and more reasonably priced options in the city. We went to Davids bridal after going to Ninas. We didn't have an appointment and we were welcomed into the store with open arms even though we did not have an appointment. Our consultant bought my daughter and endless parade of dresses to try and she ended up choosing one that was over our initial budget because we were so in love with it. That place knows how to make you feel like a valued customer. Nina's could learn a lot from them. read more

I just went to Nina's, and I have never been treated so rudely by store workers before. I walked in and the layout of the store was incredibly cramped and visually unappealing. I decided to take a chance though, and proceeded to look for a prom dress. However, I was unable to look through the racks as the dresses were so tightly packed together. I was told I should wait until someone could help me. One of the owners approached me, and told me to look on the ipad for dress styles. I personally do not like online shopping. If I did, I obviously would have looked at dresses from home, so I was confused as to why he suggested I look on the ipad. I already knew what type of dress I wanted as I had been to many other stores. I tried to tell him the style I wanted, thinking he would get me those types of dresses, but he was very hesitant to get me a dress. He couldn't really produce any dresses that were what I wanted (which was very general, blue or green and mermaid style). This surprised me as he had boasted that the store had over 7000 dresses. He then asked my size, and after telling him that my dress size was 4, he looked at me and said 6 (which was ridiculous as I have a pretty thin frame, and size 4 had been on the loose side for me). I was then completely shocked/embarrassed when he said "Your a 32", referring to my bust size. It seemed inappropriate. He went and brought me the 1 dress that was blue/ a mermaid style, and just left me to wait. There was only 2 change rooms and I did not know how long it would take to use one. 15 minutes passed and still none of the workers had approached me as to when I would be able to try on the dress. Becoming bored, I grabbed a dress from a nearby hanger that I thought I should also try on. Suddenly, the male worker aggressively came up to me, took the dress, and started publicly scolding me. He told me (in these exact words) - "this is a 1600 dollar dress. You do not just grab it like it's a timbit". At that moment, I walked out of the store. I will never be going back there, please don't go there. P.s: I saw a teenage girl ask him to try on a dress, and he told her she couldn't as it was made for "thin woman". She then said it was a size M, and he told her that she would need a XL. She still insisted, saying that she really liked it. He was completely rude. read more

If I could rate this ZERO stars I would! 100% do not reccomend, the customer service is horrible and very pushy. Rafael was extremely rude and shaming customers! they had no boundaries what so ever! Their dresses are way over priced for their horrible quality, even though he mentioned that the dress had the "most expensive material on the market" you could see the NUDE cup right through the dress. Horrible and cheap-feeling dresses that were over priced (700+). Overall, the place looked very run-down and unorganzied as they shove an iPad in your face and told you to pick the dress off the model who was wearing it In the picture. Most dresses picked from the iPad had multiple colours (we were supposedly told), and Nina's top rule as said by Rafael is "known for having a dress exactly as you see it on the iPad, if you see it colour, style and all. We have it" this was not the case as a RED dress was shown In the picture on the iPad and they didn't have it in that colour. When we left, we did not purchase a dress, Rafael gave such attitude as we walked out almost as if he was upset at the fact that we didn't like any of his dresses. Rafael was very sarcastic and pushy in purchasing a dress that he just wanted you to buy, no matter how horrible the dress looked saying "all you have to do is give me your credit card!". In the end, a willing, paying customer should not be shamed and should not be brought down when looking for a PROM dress, if anything they should make you feel as if you want to be there and they should be welcoming. When I suggested the material on a dress was cheap looking cotton like, I was told "and its still probably over your budget". We've bought there once before and the dress came apart. I've never posted a review before but the customer service at nina's collection boutique was so exceptional that I had to. Rafael, one of the designers, and Tanya, a fellow employee, were so incredibly helpful and kind. This boutique is unique because they design and manufacture in house - so you'll find their dress selection is incredibly unique and offers a wide range of styles. Dress shopping can be an overwhelming experience but they made it more enjoyable for me by providing dress recommendations and providing their expert advice re the approx cost of alterations and which dress size would fit best on me. They also have an incredible promotion at the moment where if a customer buys 5 dresses, they get the 6th free! I could go on and on raving about this dress shop but the main thing I wanted to point out is that they treat you as an individual and friend instead of just a passing consumer. I would like to give it zero stars just like someone else. The guy at the store was aggressive and down right rude to my daughter and I. He actually said to us "I will determine if this is the store for you or if you are in the wrong place. How much are you willing to spend ..." . He actually stood right in front of us and wouldn't let my daughter go farther than the front door and told her she was not to move and not to touch "ANYTHING". Then another girl came in and he totally ignored my girl. THE STORE WAS EMPTY. I promptly walked out and texted my daughter to leave ... I wouldn't give them one cent of my money ... and yes MY MONEY IS JUST AS GOOD AS ANYONE ELSE'S. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY OR RUDE IN ALL MY LIFE. And to the sales guy directly ..."you don't deserve to work in customer service anywhere. A large collection of dresses at prices you'd expect for evening wear. However, their business model is very awkward and somewhat off-putting. You aren't allowed to touch anything except an iPad. When you select dresses to try on, you are forced to go into a fitting room with no internal mirror. Then, you must come out of the room and stand on a pedestal, while someone tries to sell it to you. Oftentimes, the person is a man, who is one of the owners. If you are hesitant to buy on the spot, or say you will keep it in mind, he then introduces false sales pressure by saying it is only that price for today, etc. I firmly believe that great dresses sell themselves when you put them on and don't need someone to talk them up. Also, if something is really that good of a deal, the customer will surely be back to get it. I also believe this business model might work on Americans, but Canadians on the whole, and many minority groups in the GTA are shy/introverted people, and more practically minded shoppers who don't appreciate the "in your face" sales approach. read more
