My first experience was the lunch plate with goat cheese, hummus and lots of other stuff which was excellent. Other times had coffee and croissants. My only negative (and this goes for other places in Copenhagen) is that they allow cigarette smoking at the outdoor tables. So when you sit down to enjoy your coffee and food in an outdoor experience, people will light up without care. There are also ashtrays on the tables which is a real turn off to me. Gross. I actually left on my last visit, after my coffee, due to the smoking. Great little place. I encourage them to do something about the smoking.

I came in around 10:30am (an hour after opening) and there were a good amount of people already there. I noticed throughout the day, that many people come here to do their school work, by themselves or as groups. I ordered twice. The first was right after I arrived and I got their organic yogurt; it was okay and occasionally the oats would taste bitter and burnt. The second time I ordered was around 4pm and I got the potatoes with roasted onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and chives. The portion was pretty small, but that is to be expected in Copenhagen. I highly recommend Bevar's for doing work!

I arrived without a reservation, and the person at the door was kind enough to help secure a table. That was appreciated. The restaurant was nearly full, nicely decorated, and had a confident brasserie energy. Service was one of the highlights. My waitress was attentive and enthusiastic. She seemed relatively new and asked colleagues for help a few times, but her attitude was excellent and the overall service was above average. The food, unfortunately, was less convincing. The bread was fresh and crisp. The carpaccio was exactly what one would expect: pleasant, properly prepared, but somewhat flat. The Lemon Sole à la Meunière was well presented and nicely cooked, with good crispness, but the caper sauce did not bring much brightness or depth. The dish was enjoyable, but not memorable. The dessert was the low point. I ordered two petit fours and received two very small rectangular pieces that tasted more like firm, not-too-sweet granola bars than a proper finish to the meal. The double espresso was also served only warm. The final bill was DKK 975 before tip, and after tipping I was surprised to see an additional 2.5% Visa card surcharge that had not been mentioned before payment. Overall, Café Victor offers a strong setting and very good service, but the food felt inconsistent and overpriced. I was fed, but not impressed. At this price point, I would look for another restaurant before returning.

Food: I ordered the eggs benedict for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. It took 15-20min to serve, probably because I was with my friends and we were all served at once. The eggs benedict were perfect! It had the right amount of "yolk" when it popped, drenching the rye in a flavorful, warm way. Rye is pretty awful when cold (I speak from experience), so this was wonderful, especially on a chillier day. Seating: plentiful seating outside and inside. On rainy days though, the inside seems to lack ventilation so it's a bit more humid than preferable. It's a cozy location nonetheless.

Cafe Dyrehaven is located in the Vesterbro neighborhood (famous for being an old red light district turned into an area with funky bars in the meat packing district) and its got a great atmosphere, friendly vibes, and outdoor blankets. Amongst our group, we ordered one Moussaka, two Tagliatelle with Lightly Salted Saithe, and one Oriental Marinated Leg of Lamb, and a few beers. The Moussaka was unexpectedly delicious--it was basically a potato and eggplant lasagna. The Tagliatelle with Lightly Salted Saithe was so flavorful--the saithe (Pollock fish) savory, the tagliatelle firm but not undercooked, and the pine nuts earthy and balanced out the flavors. The Oriental Marinated Leg of Lamb was tasty, but not memorable. We enjoyed the Moussaka so much, we wanted another order, but unfortunately the kitchen closed at 9p and our tummies were denied seconds of the warm, cheesy goodness. The food is excellent, the portions generous, and the price great--Cafe Dyrehaven's perfect place for a casual meal and/or to get the night started.
