Growing up, there was a small Chinese takeout spot at the mall that had the best egg rolls. It's been hard to find egg rolls similar to the ones from my childhood. There was something special about their crisp wrapper and it was not your typical egg roll wrapper. I recently found Nim Chan's Kitchen however and their egg rolls come pretty to close! I came here for lunch and tried one of their $10.50 combination plates. Several of their plates come with the egg rolls. I got the Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice and egg roll. The egg roll did not disappoint. I loved the crisp outside. I got that nice glassy crackle sound upon bite. It was awesome. The filling itself is simple and I do wish it had more protein. There's a little chicken, some cabbage and celery. The winner here is really that wonton wrapper! Aside from the egg roll, I also did like my Kung Pao Chicken which had a bit of a spicy kick. I also tried my mom's Beef with Brocolli. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The fried rice that came with the combo plates was just ok. It was more of a brown rice than a fried rice. Overall, I'm happy to have discovered Nim Chan's Kitchen. The egg rolls reminded me a lot of the egg rolls I enjoyed as a kid. read more

Picked up dinner after working in the city on a sunday evening. I placed a phone order once I walked out of work. Thry mentioned it would be ready in 20 minutes. They are open 6 days 11:30 to 9 pm Tuesday they are closed They do catering I ordered chicken chinese mushroom, egg rolls, egg fried rice. The order was ready before the 20 minutes amazing. I was on my way home. Food was fresh and made to order. The eggs in the fried rice was delicious. The egg rolls were good and crunchy. I wish I had asked for some sweet sour dip. The chicken chinese mushroom was good but it had alot of broth which I wasn't looking for. I thought it would be on the dry side. Egg fried rice was $11.00 Egg rolls were $12.00 Chicken chinese mushrooms was $15.95 read more

First time here, Nim Chan's Kitchen is a Mom and Pop business. The restaurant is small. We ordered our food and sat in one of three tables.. The owners were nice even though there was a little language barrier. We ordered Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Pork Fried Shrimp with Fried Rice, and Mongolian Beef, . What I ate was good. Now, I will point out that the price range is low, for the amount of food you get the price is just right. Most of the businesses in this shopping center are all Mom and Pop-owned. They deserve all our support. Will be back to Chans Kitchen. read more

Everything here is great including the service by the husband and Wife team. Prices are very fair.

Food was good but very expensive for what we'd ordered. Spent $63 for Fried Winton w/ cream cheese, Pork Wonton Noodle soup, Egg fried rice, Sweet & Sour Pork, Shrimp Lo Mein. Very stingy on the side of white rice. Sweet and Sour Pork was tasty, not overly soaked in sauce. Egg fried rice was good but kinda pricey for what it is and same for the fried won tons. I'd only reorder the soup, sweet and sour pork, and won tons. read more

I always get their fried wonton "skins" for our homemade Chinese chicken salad. They are always super nice and always on time.

This is now our official go to for Chinese take out. Good quality, good portions, veggies are always fresh and crisp. Chop suey, chicken chow mein, Mongolian beef, a sauté green bean, friend rice ( the only think I thought was a next time pass), and the most crave inducing egg roll. Fast fresh, not a chain, perfection. read more

The prices on the menu are different from the prices online they're almost double And when when you ask her about it, she acts like she doesn't speak English There's a lot of celery and a lot of onions and barely any meat. Not sure if I'll go back. read more

Didn't wanna have to do this... I'm sorry but this food is TERRIBLE. I don't even know if this is real meat. The color is off, the taste is off, just super low quality food. Ordered for 6 people and not one of us could even finish the plate. Gross. Not even decent. Now I gotta go find something else to eat after wasting time and money on this. read more

Usually they are good but this time the food was not good. We ordered about $100.00 worth...orange chic, chow mein, dumpling, fried rice, beef broccoli, egg rolls. Unfortunately we ate very little and trashed the rest. I wont be going back read more

My go to when I am home! Food is consistently delicious! Service is amazing! Call in and pick up!

I had a delicious egg flower soup, perfect chicken soup for a cold. The broth is delicious, full of fluffy eggs, crunchy water chestnut and bamboo shoots, carrots and peas. Each time it's freshly made, and service is friendly and quick, generous servings for everything. read more

My first time to try Nim Chan's and I wanted to order two items for pick up four hours later. I placed my order around one pm but my daughter called and wanted to buy me lunch. So I called back and spoke with Mr Chan and cancelled my order. He was very nice and friendly and he nicely thank me for trying their place. It's seldom that an owner doesn't get mad at a cancellation and he asked me to call again next time. Therefore I want to post a good review to this establishment and I definitely will order from them in the future. Five star for a very good experience. read more

Great restaurant. It has been around for over 50 years. That tells you all you need to know.

So i was looking to replace my beloved, since closed, lucky star. It's no lucky star, but it does the job. They were friendly and decently fast esp during prime dinner take out time. Would order again but I continue my search for my new lucky star... read more

Good food, piping hot. Have some seating indoors for anyone that wants to dine in. The owner seems speedy and efficient.

Lived in San Pedro for decades and visited here on many occasions. Usually when tired and very hungry. Never more than average fair. Edible when starving! My visit today was my very last. I ordered the Chinese Special and the offering was tasteless and less than fresh. I ate about half and discarded the rest. Garbage can meal to say the least. I would be embarrassed to serve such mediocrity! read more

Local gem. Lots of veggies so add extra meat to order. Chef is a nice guy. I love the house special Lo Mein.

This place is the most lousy Chinese food restaurant I've ever been to. The Mongolian beef is not Mongolian beef, it's bland meat with too many onions. They didn't give me fried rice which was supposed to be part of the special, they gave me brown rice which they tried to pass off as fried. I would've at least preferred white rice instead. Not even their egg rolls were good, tasted strange. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Nim Chan's Kitchen - Disgusting - Chinese Near Me - San Pedro, California

All of the one star reviews for this place are sadly missing the point. It's a 'cha chaan teng' style restaurant in San Pedro that's been around for decades. I was able to get Hong Kong style beef chow fun on a Sunday night. It's the only dish I order there. Most everything else on the menu is a miss, but the beef chow fun is spectacular! Just like Hong Kong! read more

We often order their delicious food when we are craving for a Chinese meal. There is great variety on the menu to choose from. We usually order the family combination, and their won ton noodle soup, which we order when we are sick. The soup has a lot of vegetables, noodles, won ton, and choices of meat and/or shrimp. The portions are generously large and the prices are very affordable. read more

Great food, great service. I've been a client for years. A++ every time! Excellent food

I was feeling under the weather, so I asked my BF to pickup some Wor Wonton soup for me. The wontons were nothing but rubbery dough and not a spot of meat. There were a couple pieces of rubbery chicken, 2 slices of what I think was BBQ Pork and 2 small pieces of shrimp. The rest of the "soup" was packed with huge slices of celery and the "broth" was nothing more then slightly seasoned water. My BF got the Mongolian Beef! It was very soupy and was also packed with a huge amount of celery! Unfortunately because it was so soupy and put in a regular Chinese take out box, the juice leaked all over his car seat! Needless to say, he was not happy! This use to be one of the better Chinese restaurants in town. Not anymore!! read more

Unfortunately the food here is not good me and my cowrkers wanted to try a new spot in San Pedro so we decided on Nia Chans it was a bit pricey and hoped it would be worth it. We were really disappointed. The food was bland. A lot of liquid falling everywhere chow mein had no noodles. This was the first and last time coming here. They definitely need to change up the menu. read more

The chow mein is very hard to order, hit ir miss. This business owner is very rude he was yelling at me. I went back to tell them my chow mein was boiled noodles with ketchup sauce and that had not happened to me here before. He was yelling at me that I didn't know their noodles were soft. They were boiled spaghetti noodles with Ketchup. I pay cash when I come here my first time I complain sometimes the food is not as tasty. But it's a local spot and I try to support instead of buying at Panda Express. I have learned my lesson. The guy was yelling at me telling me I ordered the wrong noodle. I never get asked what noodle I just say chow mein. But this time it was tasteless and with Ketchup. Stay away. I returned the noodles and left without anything because he would not stop yelling at me. He saw me leaving and said wait I'll make it for you, still in a terrible yelling tone. I said nope do not yell at me. He then called me and left me a voicemail. Listen the good news is there's a ton of Chinese food restaurants and they give me great service. To the owners, if you are in the food business don't forget I pay it's not free. So try not to loose too much business either because of your bad attitude. Oh and here is a picture of the fried rice you can also see it's boiled chicken that just got tossed at the end. read more

Nim Chan's Kitchen - Boiled cubed chicken on top of the fried rice. - Chinese Near Me - San Pedro, California

Not recommended. I had three different dishes. They were not authentic nor Americanized dishes. A Basically flavorless base is used in most dishes with the addition of some item to distinguish it such as cashews, birdseye peppers, or some pineapple. Also, the kung pao chicken was not breaded. Unusual. The ingredients that are in abundance are onions and green bell peppers so, if you like those then, your in luck. Me, bell peppers disagree with me so there was a great deal of waste. Very disappointed. Pick up sticks is actually better. read more

Great Wor Wonton soup for cold weather. Nice little restaurant with great service. I always order takeout .

I love Nim Chan's. It's our local Chinese takeout & is exactly what you want if you don't want to go to a restaurant. This has to be the WORST Chinese food I've ever had! At least the guy was nice! I got the beef in oyster sauce, egg rolls and foil wrapped chicken. The foil wrapped chicken was so bland, it was brown on one side and completely white and unseasoned on the other. The egg rolls had too much greens and not enough meat. The beef and oyster sauce was bland, the sauce was runny, and there were too many bok choy and onions. The beef was tough. On top of that the white rice was mushy and watery. At least get the white rice right! How they've been in business for so long is beyond me. I would never go back to this place! read more

Delicious food. Nim Chan's a regulor take out for our family. Prompt service. It does get busy during lunch.

Found on Yelp we went here for dinner in San Pedro after Catalina Island. It was open on Labor Day and lots of other restaurant we wanted to go were closed. Most people do take-out here, we ate there. Got: Steamed broccoli - no sauce, just the broccoli. Tasted ok, nothing special. Hot and sour soup - huge bowl enough for 2-3 ppl. We liked it ok. String beans w/ chicken - tasted fine. Got 2 Diet Pepsi in the can. Charged it. read more
