Catalog on the 5th floor of New Town Plaza is a little bit of a shoe mart. It houses different…read morebrands - mostly sports brands like Adidas and New Balance, but also has casual wear shoes from Toms, Vans and Lacoste. There is a pretty good variety of shoes here and the prices are not far from, if not the same, as buying from the actual retailers themselves. I guess the upside of coming to Catalog is that you're not limited by brand. If you're not sure what brand you're after, one look at the show racks can give you an idea of which brand's designs you like more and which are more affordable. With that knowledge in mind, you can then go to the official stores to make the purchase. I also like that the store is quite well laid out, with all the same brands in one corner rather than all over the place. One thing not so great about Catalog that the salespeople may not be very knowledgeable about the product - this would be important if you're looking to buy a pair of good running shoes, for example. You might not get all the answers to your questions because the salespeople don't specialize in one particular brand. Another thing is that as with any store in New Town Plaza, Catalog is always crowded, mostly with mainlanders who love visiting this mall due to its proximity to the border. I would advise against coming on weekends because it will be near impossible for you to get a good look at the shoes and receive the full attention of the saleslady!

At Hong Kong International Airport, there is plenty of shopping to do. Some stores even have more…read morethan one shop in the complex. Lacoste is one of them. They have a location in Terminal 1 and this one in Terminal 2. There is a difference between the two though. This location is actually a Lacoste Outlet. So you will find apparel from this popular brand at discounted prices. Some things are marked down 50% or more. The MSRP price tag is quite high though. Pricier than buying Lacoste apparel in the US, but the discounts make the cost a little more reasonable. The selection here is mostly men's apparel, though there is a small selection for women. Apparel here consisted of mostly polos, t-shirts and long sleeve shirts from the Lacoste and Lacoste Live brands. Found a polo that was marked down from over HK$900 to under HK$400 that I liked. Tried it on in one of the makeshift changing rooms in the back. You will want to check online for sizes or ask one of the sales reps as Lacoste uses a numeric system for their clothing. Small is size 4 FYI for men's polos. If you like the Lacoste brand and have time to burn at HKIA, check out this outlet location. You might be able to find a deal here. Though you could probably find comparable prices in the US for these same goods.

This is a real Nike store. It's a pretty large store and doesn't look like it belongs there. If you…read moreare from out of town, trying to shop for athletic gear can be confusing. There are a bunch of other stores on the same street that look like real Nike stores. A lot of them have the Nike sign out front and nothing else. There is a Nike Football store (real) and then there are some like Marathon sports which I believe are comparable to Footlocker in the USA. It may not matter that much but if you are wondering why there's a "Nike" store every few steps on this street then this is why.

So you see little shops and then a big clean H&M store at the end of the street. The men section gets it's own floor at least. They got all the basics and the women gets two floors of clothes. You'll see a lot of Chinese and foreigners in this store wandering about. I personally found some cool items in the men section. Things I didn't see in Causeway Bay H&M, and I love finding new things. Clean store, good items and consistent with H&M brand. And it's a big store. Love it!

Famous French designer Christian Louboutin has landed Hong Kong. There are two store front…read morelocations. One on Hong Kong side (On Lan Street) which is their flagship location, and one in Kowloon's, Harbour City. Of course, you can still find the coveted red bottoms in shops like Lane Crawford as well. The Harbour City location and On Lan Street location will have the full collection, but your choices may be limited in Lane Crawford. The location of the Harbour City store is next to common big names in the fashion industry. If you're looking to do some damage on the plastic, you've come to the right place. Their shoes as most of you will know come with a pretty hefty price tag, with the lowest end footwear item for about the 5-6k. The store layout is beautiful. They managed to intertwine both men and women shoes seamlessly. This makes shopping with your other half a bit more fun. =) The people working behind the scenes to make the space as inviting as can be do a great job from deciding which shoes to display to the little props being incorporated to grab your attention and lure you in. The staff here are also very nice. They do get busy and there will be times where you may need to wait to be helped. They try their best and are always cordial. I never feel rushed or pressured into making my decisions quick. This is important to me because I feel a lot of other companies may have staff that do such thing in Hong Kong.

I've always wondered about Shanghai Tang, and my curiosity has led me to shop her glorious window…read moredisplays. It wasn't until last week that I finally ventured inside the boutique to check out the goods! And what beautiful goods they are. Despite the name, Shanghai Tang is actually a Hong Kong-born luxury goods retailer. The brand exudes timeless elegance and incorporates that unmistakable Chinese aesthetic. They make gorgeous dresses, small leather goods, scarves, jewelry, children's clothing, lacquered jewelry boxes, and more. I fell in love with a very unique scarf which features gray-hued Mongolian cashmere on one side, and a show-stopping fuchsia silk with Chinese pattern on the other side. It's quite the statement scarf, and I know it will instigate a lot of interesting conversations! My friend found a really striking green silk dress with the most precise tailoring, and I purchased a cotton shirt for my little niece which features delicate embroidery and a Mandarin collar. If you're looking for special gifts for close friends and family, I highly recommend the enamel bangle bracelets. They're worthy of collecting! Shanghai Tang is now my one-stop shop for beautiful pieces that make highly-coveted gifts.

I returned it to the store, and their manager, Alice, explained that according to the brand policy, they would need to ship the faulty belt to their china factory for repair and that I would have it back in approximately 6 weeks. When I complained about the fact that they had offer no replacement or exchange the manager said that it would take them some days to consider and get back to me. Bottom line, I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER shop again at this brand. The prices are high enough to expect high and immediate customer service and support that resolves things on the spot. They can keep the belt.
