I'm not one that tends to cop merch when certain things drop, but as a favor to others I still made my way down here to check out the place. The store layout is excellent. With two stories, blissfully cold AC, and a plethora of memorabilia, it's an easy destination for retail therapy. Much of the gear is currently world cup oriented and the friendly workers were able to let me know that seasonal items come and go quickly in the store and that most folks will be on top of the online orders. As expected, much of the gear is top of the line pricing. Premium gear and selection comes at a cost, especially in one of the most shopping heavy parts of the city. The football (#1) jerseys are anywhere from $300 to $600HKD and the upstairs streetwear + women's gear is looking close to $1K for a proper outfit. It carries modern, casual clothes from the U.S. The colors are nice and warm and makes me wish I was on a boat somewhere. There's a maxi dress here and there, but it's for those who want to be stylish and comfortable. The sweat-shorts are perfect for my wardrobe. Who doesn't want to go out in their sweatpants every day? The cuff on the bottom gives them a nice refined look. There are some nice collared button ups that would pair nicely with linens pants or summer shorts. I love the Citizen and DL jeans that they have hanging in the back by the fitting room. They look long and lean will be perfect for winter. Even if you like to dress to the 10s most of the time, the clothing in here is perfect for your not so fancy fashion days. *Also, there is a random collection of candles at the top of the clothes hanging racks. The prices however, seem very high for what is on sale but it's the cuts, not the out-there designs, that you pay for. If you're anything like me, the perfect white t-shirt is a coveted wardrobe item and I always manage to find one in Tiare. My preference are the silk mixes which just hang so perfectly. Actually, all of the jersey items are hits for me. If you can stomach paying around the $1000 mark for a simple top, you won't regret the purchase. I wear mine time and time again and never have to worry about them bobbling in the wash or those oh so annoying holes that mysteriously appear under the arm! If you're on their mailing list, Tiara will invite you to sample sales which are perfect if you are of average size. You can snap up items for a fraction of the cost but be warned, stock goes FAST. There is a small jewelry range as well as items such as boob tape and some underwear. A really cute boutique with a focus on quality.

They are famous for their handmade tailored Chinese dresses and suits. I made one a while back, and the tailor has excellent craftsmanship. This is the second time I return to this store and order more dresses. The tailor gave me a lot of recommendations in terms of materials and styles. I am looking for a Chinese dress in short version with elegant and modern style. Since I am living in the United States and will only stay in Hong Kong for a few days, the tailor agreed to prioritize my order. I am looking forward to see it in 2 days, and try on for a final fitting. The tailor also offer to ship the dresses to me when they are done. Customer will have to pay for shipping cost, which could be a little pricy.

A friend went in to look for a Chinese dress (qi pao) and a wedding dress and they have a few samples for you to try. Essentially you can customize the neckline, cut and shape of the dresses. Seems to be reasonable price and you further identify where you want cut-outs and more specifics with fittings. Fewer fittings means it's cheaper, but you also don't get it as fitted. You can show them pictures of dresses and they can also create. One of the cons is that you don't get to see how the style would look on you. Best if you have tried something similar elsewhere and knows it looks good on you and then have them make it here. Good service and friendly. They also indicated that they have people email them pictures of their orders from abroad and they then ship the dress. For dresses it takes about 3 months for it to be completed, including the fittings.

Gap brings a tinge of familiarity and sizes (#1) for the tourist crowd, which is how I found myself here in the first place. The store is actually pretty big, which is not an easy feat in a place like HK. The seasonal selection has a lot for men and women and to some extent, kids. (#2) Each area is fairly clean and the layout is easy to decipher all sections. The accessories (sunglasses, neckwear especially) is a bit limited, but I imagine most people aren't coming to Gap to for this. Like many big chains in this part of the world, the store is overstaffed with a lot of employees running around in search of something to do. The last two times I came here I was rang up by a girl named Ringtone. (#3) The best part is she thought MY name was strange. This alone makes me want to come back. Another thing to note: While most Gap stores will take in anything from other Gap stores as return items, it is subject to manager approval for international locations. I've seen them stock big names like Sam Edelman and Tory Burch, so Pedder Red definitely has its share of luxury shoes. Mid-range brands like Keds and Toms are sold here too, and they have Toms shoes in a bunch of adorable prints! They have their own line of shoes as well, featuring staples like regular flats and pumps. The shop assistants at Pedder Red are generally helpful - when they see you looking at something, they'll let you know that they can look for the one in your size if you'd like. They seem to be pretty good with sizes and I've never been told that my size isn't available, except during sale seasons when things get snatched up by the minute. And speaking of which, one of the best thing about Pedder Red is their sale seasons. During this, they arrange the shoes according to the sizes they are available in - for example, there'll be a section in the store with just size 37s and another section with just 40s. I really appreciate them doing this because that way, I won't be wasting time looking at shoes that they don't even have available in my size anymore. There's nothing more heartbreaking than falling in love with a pair of shoes, only to find out that they only remaining pair is a 40! Their sales are pretty generous too. Expect discount of around 40% or 50% off, so it's no surprise that Pedder Red is packed when they're on sale, especially during weekends and holidays. I can't resist going into Pedder Red when they're on sale, even if it's just to take a round! One thing though is I have tried putting on the flats that come under their brand, but they are quite uncomfortable. The material is stuff and gnaws at the sides of my feet. Pedder Red is definitely worth checking out especially when they're on one of their major sales. Their summer-transitioning-to-fall sale is on right now so there's no excuse not to pop by just for a look!

As opposed to the rest of them Zara is not a designer store, neither a high end brand. It's a medium quality, good design clothing and accessories' store. We all know Zara. It may be argued that it does not match in this location but I think it's great that it's there. Today I wanted to buy a bag and it was almost an emergency...I had kept an old one for way too long. As Topshop in Queensway doesn't have many bags (if any at all) I headed to Zara. None of the other stores crossed my mind. What's more: I knew I could find what I was after - a big black bag, rather simple. This season is plagued with those, with a good range of qualities and prices. I finally got Trafaluc one and I love it, it does its job and it's nicely designed. They also have some pretty brown leather bags in this collection. I did have a look at the clothes too; Zara HK is different to Europe's stores (the ones I know) in many ways...not only the design is more minimalistic and the lines simpler but it is also more expensive and it's positioning differs from Europe's. I found the current collection a little boring but still, great to have a Zara just 2 minutes away from my office!
