I was recruited by Diana Cupps Law--not the other way around. After a thorough hiring process--a…read moreresume and cover letter, an essay, two interviews, meeting the staff, and touring the office--Ms. Cupps offered me a position as an Associate Attorney. She was well aware that I had spent the majority of my career outside of traditional litigation and assured me that this would not be an issue. She told me she saw the "inner litigator" in me and promised that I would receive mentorship as I transitioned into this area of practice. That commitment played a significant role in my decision to leave my prior position and accept the role of Associate Attorney at Diana Cupps Law. Unfortunately, my experience after I started bore little resemblance to what had been promised. The mentorship I was told I would receive never materialized. Despite being hired with the expectation that I would be mentored, staff routinely worked behind closed doors, with their office doors literally shut, making guidance and collaboration difficult to access. I was terminated on the very day my health insurance benefits were scheduled to begin. I was told, verbatim, that it was "not a performance issue" but rather a matter of "culture and fit." Prior to my termination, I had never received a single warning, nor was I ever informed that my job was in jeopardy. After leaving a stable position based on the representations made during recruitment, that explanation was both surprising and disappointing. I also found aspects of the office culture to be concerning. The managing attorney frequently emphasized her status as a military veteran, and patriotic messaging--including décor with phrases such as "Freedom Isn't Free"--was prominently displayed throughout the office. During the holiday season, a full Christian Nativity scene was displayed in the office of this public-facing law firm. During my employment, I also observed comments and discussions in training that made me uncomfortable. Based on what I personally heard during training, employees were encouraged to make judgments about a potential client's ability to pay based on how the person spoke on the phone. I also heard remarks about African Americans that I found inappropriate and inconsistent with the professionalism I believe clients deserve. My experience ultimately did not reflect the expectations that were set during the hiring process. I accepted the position based on promises of mentorship and support that, in my experience, were not fulfilled. Being terminated for "culture and fit" after being assured it was "not a performance issue" left me feeling misled and deeply disappointed.

I have adopted one of the hundreds of maltese dogs from the Stroud incident. She is a 3 year old…read moremaltese. I am 74 years old and my wife and I got a dog less than a year after we were married and have had many dogs since then. We have had this maltese about 10 days and I don't remember being so thrilled with a dog. This one had no sense of what it meant to be a dog. She had not had a bath for the first 3 years of her life, she had never been on grass before, she had never been cuddled or loved. A week later, she has learned that outside is a marvelous place to be, she goes out there to go pee and poop. She has become my dog and jumps up in my chair and she has only done that the last couple of days. We took her to the groomer and he bathed her, cut the hair out of her face, did her toenails, and did that anal thing. By that time she was too stressed to really cut her hair so she came home with us. We are going to take her back and get her hair cut next week. The people at the Tulsa Humane Society were just wonderful and helped us through the whole thing. This is probably the last dog I will ever get, but I am extremely pleased with this one. Thanks THS for rescuing this dog so that I can have her. By the way, her name, and this is the first name she has had, is Ava Leigh. She is a beauty.

I recently adopted a puppy from The Tulsa Humane Society who was attending an adoption at Glove…read moreLife Park in Arlington last Saturday. On Monday the puppy was a little lethargic. Tuesday evening he had a runny stool and threw-up Tuesday night. I was at my local Veterinary the first thing Wednesday morning where I found out the puppy tested positive for parvo. I am a disabled veteran who was adopting this dog to replace my current service dog. So far, this experience has done the complete opposite of the reasoning behind having a service dog. Not only has my family and myself been effective negatively, but my current service dog allowed a puppy to come into her home and now was suddenly removed for treatment. Unfortunately I had not even had time to add this puppy to my insurance plan. As of now we have paid $751.20 that covers his hospital stay through tomorrow. If he needs to stay longer the cost is $110 per day after that (not including extra or unforeseen medical needs). I think that would be a small price to pay for some extremely positive publicity. I need your decision quickly as I am a disabled veteran and have a fixed income. I look forward to your prompt reply. Update. Tulsa HS contacted me and advised I could pay for treatment out of pocket I already have) or they would come pickup the dog and treat him, If I relinquish the dog back to them (I live 4 hours from them). I have decided to keep the dog as the second option is not the right thing to do. All I wanted was to be helped with the medical bill that is saving this dogs life and to let the Tulsa HS know their dogs were testing positive for Pravo. I understand a contract was signed but one does not expect a puppy, who is supposedly up to date on shots, need to be taken to the vet for a life threatening illness within days of taking them home. I just want you to be aware how Lawrence decided to treat a disabled veteran and his future service dog. I hope everyone involved who had dogs anywhere near the adoption that took place at Globe Life Park on Saturday 7-29-2023 take precautions so this is contained.
