Trekking around Hyannis on a quiet Saturday, we came upon Best Fix and Repair. We walked in, and were immediately greeted and helped by the gentleman owner. Now, he had several screen protectors on hand, so a nice ample stock. He took her phone, removed the broken protector, cleaned the phone diligently, and put the new phone protector on. All for a whopping $15.00! At the Apple Store, which I love their products and services, the protector would be $50.00 or up. Less than five minutes! Huge cost savings! I left a generous tip, as he was quite nice, personable, and professional. The store was exceptionally clean, parking is on the street or in the public lot behind Main Street. Thank you! As someone who isn't trying to take advantage of hard working people, I was disappointed. Maybe the aftermarket back glass wasn't the best quality? Not sure. I wouldn't recommend the location unfortunately. $159 for the glass to chip with a case on, no dropping etc. The owner did offer a "discount" but ultimately I'd expect more after having it fixed no more than a day later it's chipped. That being said, just expect more for the price and for the owner to stand by the product and service. *Update* Clearly you can see how passive aggressive and childish the owner is. As with other reviews that did not got his way--I would like to let future customers know there are other options that I wish I looked more into. The Cape Cod Hyannis Mall has the Geek Squad who sell only OEM apple replacement parts and, get this...they have a warranty on their products because they're an Apple partner. Now, that being said it's a whopping $10 more than this "Best Fix" location. Anyway, my loss. I trusted what I thought would be a good service and got burnt. The staff spent the time diagnosing the problem and walking me through the options. Late in the game we got a curveball. No attitude, just solutions. While visiting my senior-age parents on Cape Cod recently, I discovered that my mother's laptop was…read morenot working properly. In the process of getting it repaired, I also learned that the owners at CPU are not interested in the Sandwich community or helping people...just making a buck anyway they can, no matter who gets hurt in the process. In the case of my mother: I brought her like-new 2-year old Sony laptop (which I had purchased for her and had used perfectly on a recent previous visit) simply to have a webcam installed. Sadly, the greedy owners at Computers & Performance Upgrades told me the laptop was badly infected with malicious viruses and needed a complete operating system reinstall--which was absolutely untrue (my mother seldom if ever goes online; she mostly plays local CD-based games like Solitaire). As I'm not that tech savvy (nor is my mother), she insisted on paying the eye-gouging bill herself for the wholly unnecessary procedure--something that was incredibly hard on a fixed retirement budget. I wonder how many other people like myself and my elderly mother have had their tech ignorance taken advantage of, and been sold unnecessary services, repairs and parts by Computers & Performance Upgrades in the past few years. It's clear from my dealings with them that they've been taking advantage of the uninformed and elderly for years--praying on ignorance, raping bank accounts and employing the worst in scare tactics...all to fleece their vulnerable & trusting customers.
