That being said these treats are wildly creative home crafted goods, and made with quality ingredients. As far as vibe goes what more could you ask for! Either sit outside enjoying the outdoor seating overlooking beautiful mountains, or if it happens to be winter and you don't fancy yourself turning into a human popsicle. They have plenty of indoor seating as well with warm welcoming friendly energy. I am always blown away by the flavors, and always excited to see what's new! Which I must add emphasis on that because the New treats are on a daily basis. You name any small business on earth rocking that kind of respect, and excitement for what they do!? Making it really easy to say "But First Coffee and Bakery" is added to a very short list of places I genuinely look forward to visiting when back in Montana.

Inside the Fishtail General Store is a great little coffee shop. The only down side is limited…read morehours it is open. At Fishtail Grind you can hide away from the crowds. The shop is near the front of the general store and down a couple of stairs to just below ground level. There's only a few seats available and because of its location, there are no windows. It's great for hiding out and escaping the sun while enjoying well-made coffee. There's a full coffee menu, some teas, and the usual mix of mugs, t-shirts, and of course coffee to take home and brew. After you've browsed the general store and just before you leave, stop in and grab some caffeine to go. Or, stay for a bit and listen to some local gossip or trade stories with other visitors. Just outstanding quality. Hand cut thick fries were also solid. It is neat to see the locals stop by--clearly everyone appreciates the place. They bake their own desserts too. Attentive, efficient staff. No one is loafing. Just us visitors! Well worth the drive into the middle of nowhere. Can't wait to drop in for breakfast.
