When I decided to finally go to a dentist, Bloomington Dental was recommended to me by a family member who generally fears dentists but really likes Dr. Neilson. Making an appointment was easy. When I arrived, the office staff was welcoming and the hygienist (Sydney) listened to all my issues/concerns and took it all into consideration while doing my cleaning. I never felt judged or shamed for my past lack of proper dental care or the current state of my teeth. Dr. Neilson explained my dental issues/needs delicately yet plainly, offering a range of solutions (lower cost, shorter-term vs. higher cost, longer term - never trying to "sell" me) as well as what needed to be prioritized. Due to this positive experience, I decided to follow Dr. Neilson's advice and use his services. I ended up making several weekly appointments which included root canals, crowns and fillings. The dental assistant, Kelsey, did an excellent job of being sensitive to my TMD and gag reflex issues. Knowing I preferred to be told what was happening, she was diligent in letting me know as each step progressed, as well as always making sure I was comfortable. His lead assistant, Kristie, was confident and highly skilled. I felt positive in her advice and opinions on helping chose my crown shades and "smile style." During each appointment, Dr Nielsen was consistently friendly and thoughtful. He made sure I was always properly numb throughout each procedure and checked his work with a detailed-eye. Additionally, he listened to all my concerns and answered all my questioned with confidence and care. Out of my eight appointments, only two started late by about 20 minutes. However, overall, from the moment I walked in the door, Bloomington Dental & Dr. Nielsen offered first-class service and superior skills. I'd highly recommend using them to anyone for any and all dental care needs.

He was very vocal about delivering his opinion in an open area with other patients and made me feel terrible. All he did was refer me to a periodontist. I have since found out I have an autoimmune disease which causes inflammation and blisters of the gums. I would think a dentist would know the difference between a disease and gingivitis!! I have since found a caring dentist who knew exactly what was happening and I am being treated with respect and compassion.
