Nick's pizza does it well thin crispy bottom, crust is crunchy and light. My only mistake was not letting it cool down enough to hold on together, my first slice of Philly cheesesteak pizza mostly fell off the crust. Once we let it rest, it held together well. The wings were meaty and deep fried. Great texture, not overly sauced. Finally the people that worked there. I called in the order and the lady was super friendly. I arrived a few minutes early and the guy behind the counter was courteous and verified my name or the pick up. Pizzas were hot and fresh. I went back to Nick's and asked them not to put olives in my ziti this time and they asked me incredulously what I was talking about so I showed them this review and they said, "Oh, those are green peppers." Visited Syracuse for some family business. Yesterday I went to Nick's pizza. When I went in the pizza restaurant the cook was making a pizza that looked so good I asked for the exact same thing. Turns out it was a large meat lovers pizza. Got back to the hotel and the first taste of this pizza I knew it was golden. I went back to the pizza shop today asked for the cook and just thanked him because that pizza was fantastic. I also left him a tip and I'm just like everyone else,I left a tip in the bowl when I bought the pizza yesterday. WE bought two specialty 16" pizzas (garlic with ham, Philly cheesesteak) and a house salad, our bill was $70 with tip. If the food delivered was memorable, I'd still be hesitant to order from them again, the food was very forgettable unfortunately. On the pizzas they had a ridiculously light hand with the proteins. The garlic pizza was topped with one slice of deli ham chopped up, the cheesesteak the steak was nearly non existent. I really hate leaving low scores for local restaurants, especially when I used to really enjoy when I worked in the area. Alas... I have to leave this review to call them out on the things that aren't cool. The first thing that knocked the star off right away it's freaking charge in a service charge. Yes times are tough but come on that's why you sell foods, they pay the bills... Tacking on a few percent milk a little more money is not cool. This is obviously being done because if they raise the price of the food they have to pay for the displays to be changed. The second issue that I had is that their bathroom isn't really handicap accessible. They may think it is with the two metal bars, but the sink vanity they have... Well see what happens with a wheelchair and a sink vanity. Also the spacing on the toilet as well. Lastly, I just didn't enjoy my pizza like I used to. It was very old when I came in and we all know how to tell what all pizza looks like. No amount of oven reheating will fix that. The flavors just weren't there at all, but I'm assuming that's because it was old. Sadly, I don't think I'll come back anymore. read more

Location was convenient to where I was staying off of Carrier Circle and was in the mood for some Italian food for dinner . I wanted something different and opted for the Chicken Parmesan dinner. It was very good and very healthy portion. Service was excellent for a take out order. I love pizza, was looking for a quick snack one evening while in Syracuse - low and behold nearby my hotel at Carrier Circle, I was introduced to Nick's, a traditional super NY thin crusted pie with tasty sauce, cheese and meat!! I dropped in for to go order, and just out of the oven was a fresh large pizza, 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 Italian sausage, looked great! Could've gotten the whole thing, but was way too much for 1 person, thus ordered by the slice, very reasonable. When I come back next time, will like to try ordering a whole pie with all the fixings I like. So today I went and had lunch with the girl, and we were just looking for something quick and were just gonna grab some fast food burgers. Not everyone's favorite option but quick none the less. But she works in this area and knew of this pizzeria and it having seating and such since she's had lunch here before, and who doesn't like pizza. It's your typical walk in place where behind a sheet of glass a selection of pre made slices are sitting there and they grab and heat them up in the oven for you. Not my favorite method of pizza it's always better fresh I'm sure. So I got your basic two slices of cheese and a soda. She opted for pepperoni and sausage. Service was quick but I don't think I saw a single smile in the joint. But I imagine a summer in a pizza place isn't a magical thing as it's always incredibly hot behind those counters. So they were all probably hot and tired after a lunch rush. The pizza itself was a thinner crust. And easy to fold. Not my favorite but it has good flavor. The issue I take with most pizza places here is the same as most, the sauce. For one it was bland here. And sweet. They must add sugar to it and I like a zestier more robust and acidic pizza sauce. It was just kind of there. And the layer of cheese was so thin and when it was reheated you didn't get that ooey gooey cheesey love you get with a good slice of pie. All in all. Not to my taste and incredibly average. The reason I'd give this between 3-4 stars is the way they keep their restaurant. Most of these places are old tables old chairs and sort of dark and dingey. This place was impeccably kept. Super clean granite counters and table tops. Fresh paint and I couldn't see a single speck of dirt or fingerprints on anything. So while it might not be to my taste. It is obvious they have a lot of pride and care about the product they are putting out there. In consensus. I'd give them a second try. Prices were reasonable (about 13.50 for four slices and a soda to share), and service was quick even if not pleasant and i could tell how much they cared. I think next time I'd rather try a fresh pie and see if perhaps that makes the quality improve. read more

My family and I came here on a Friday looking for a good pizza/wing deal. We decided on a large pepperoni pizza and 24 wings (hot and honey barbecue) that came to $31.21 (with tax). They had a nice variety of pre-made pizzas sold by the slice up front. The interior was surprisingly pleasant and cleanly. My mother even commented that they had a cozy atmosphere and the bathroom was well kept. The place had a decent amount of tables with crushed red pepper and parmesan shakers decorating each table. It was about a 20 minute wait until a fresh pizza and wings arrived. As for the pizza, it's typical New York (very thin crust) style. So if that's what you're into, this pizza is for you. It was cooked perfectly. While the crust was quite thin, it did have good flavor. The sauce was equal in quality and unique in comparison to traditional pizza sauces; it was both garlicky and had a zing. The toppings were pretty standard, but satisfying. The wings were tasty as well. The hot were traditional red hot and butter, but they made them extra saucy just how I like them. The honey bbq hit the spot too. They were a little messy and sticky but that's what I expect from decent bbq.The wings were of quality as well, they were meaty and cooked to a perfect crisp. Overall, I will be back here. There pizza is good and the prices are average. To be honest, this was some of the best NY style pizza I have had in Syracuse in a while. Most other places have been dropping the ball with flavor and burning the crust. This place was just how I remember good NY style pizza. I am ordinarily a little hesitant to write about any initial experience that I have with pizza especially in the Syracuse area. My preference is to see if a good experience is reproducible. Sometimes if it is an especially poor experience, I would not consider spending my time, money or caloric intake on lousy pizza a second time. Nick's is just south of the Carrier Circle on Thompson Road next to a Dunkin Donuts so, nothing fancy is going on on the outside. Inside was surprisingly clean, updated and comfortable without being gaudy. They had a few nice and fresh looking pies on display and I opted for two slices: a plain and one with mushrooms since they looked to be fresh mushrooms. I paid, grabbed my fountain soda (refills are not free and cost 50 cents) and took a seat. A very short time later, my slices were delivered to my table. Service was very pleasant. The slices looked even better now that they were heated. The real reason I even tried this place is because another Yelper, Frank P. stated "Thin crunchy crust the way it's supposed to be." A good pizza crust is a rare commodity around here. Nick's has it ! The crust was fantastic, fresh, crispy and dense enough with some nice resistance in each bite. The cheese and sauce were good, although, I would like a bit more of an assertive flavor from both the cheese and sauce. This is just based on reheated slices so, perhaps I will be even more happily surprised if I order a personal pie to be freshly baked for me on my next visit. read more

It's always good and I've yet to have a complaint. The delivery is prompt and friendly. I'm talking about simple credit card payments and now, for the second time, I was overcharged. It seems like they're using the contact free delivery and over the phone credit card orders and taking a little extra. It's called math, and the numbers don't add up. If there are extra charges, put them on your website! It'll take you all of 10 minutes to figure it out. So, after being a customer for a few years, I'm calling you out on whatever (extra) charges you're adding to orders. Ridiculous. I'll buy a 5 dollar frozen pizza before calling this place again. A tasty slice of pizza, New York style, just a few minutes off the thruway. Located in a little side plaza right down Thompson Rd, it's conveniently located for anyone staying on Carrier Circle or just passing through. Walking in, there were easily eight different kinds of pizza that were hot and ready to go. The crust was perfectly thin with just the right amount of crisp and chew to make a traveler think they had stopped off in NYC. The sauce was evenly distributed and not too sweet. I had added some garlic sprinkle out of habit but I'm no so sure I needed it. The only downside was that I could see was that the pepperoni slice was pretty greasy and the fountain drinks had a charge for refills which is a bit outlandish for the area, but it was certainly a great tasting experience.
