a hand holding a hot dog

One of the things I like to think about when I travel is what I can do in a certain area that I can't do anywhere else. Food, with it's typical propensity to go bad, is one such thing. Regional dishes like this are thus one of the things I'm on the search for when I'm in a new place. I saw some magazine article about cheese sauce, how it's kind of like cheese whiz but also like actual cheese and I decided to try it, sort of haphazardly deciding on this place. I got a hot dog and this cheese sandwich thing with onions. Both were pretty tasty, unfortunately I didn't try the chorizo (I know that's the wrong spelling) and I felt kind of our of place inside, but it was pretty tasty, the hotdog hit the spot, and the sandwich was kind of gooey and chewy with some spice from the onion mix thing, definitely something I wish I had available to eat as an undergrad.

Two with everything

Never disappoints. I make the One hour pilgrimage two or three times per year. And if I'm ever driving past fall River I stop. I always order three with everything, mustard, Coney sauce and onions. I could easily eat six. This place has been here since 1920 so you know they know what they're doing. It's a tiny little place that makes delicious food. I've never tried anything else on the menu because I love the hotdog so much. Maybe my next pilgrimage I'll try something else. Thank you Nick's for making my life better.

Menu at Nicks

I came to Nick's Coney Island Hot Dogs all the way from Connecticut. After spending a few hours in freezing weather wandering around the battleships of nearby Battleship Cove, the only thing on my mind was a hot dog with mustard at Nick's. And it didn't dissapoint. With mustard and chile in bountiful portions on top of the hot dog, you have a beautiful mixture of flavors hitting your tongue at the same time. It's definitely old school in Nick's and so much more enjoyable than a bland impersonal lunch at some fast food chain. If you like Portuguese sausages, you can get a chorizo at Nicks that is just fabulous. After polishing off your lunch, walk across the street to the Terminal Bakery and have an apple cake or Portugese sweet bread and your day is complete. By the way, a blissful hot dog at Nicks costs $1.26!

Really good food. Delicious hot dogs and coffee milk. I got two plain Hot Digs and my dad got four cony island dogs.

Apparently, the place just changed hands in the past month or two. Inside it looks about the same although the menu has changed somewhat. I can't determine what was added or deleted, but it just strikes me as a different menu. I got two dogs all the way without onion in order of fries and a coffee milk The fries came out and my shoestring, which are not exactly my favorite type of fry, but they were fried well. Apparently, if you ask for fat french fries you'll get the thicker cut ones which I will remember for next time. The hot dogs were well cooked and sauced. The buns seemed fresh. Service was friendly and prompt. The inside was largely the same as I remembered it. I sat at the counter and could view the galley kitchen, which seemed to be very clean. Prices weren't bad. I will likely return.

This is a pretty spectacular hot dog shop (um, truck) that is located in Massachusetts somewhere halfway between Boston and Providence, sort of like my secret love nest (hi boys). They make delicious hot dogs, which are definitely five star. I loved every single bite. They put a lot of love into the product and all the ingredients are as excellent as the taste. Very well done to the owners and preparers. Pretty much one of the better hot dogs you'll find anywhere. I highly recommend you stop by and give it a try. Trucks aren't usually great, but occasionally they are. Usually overpriced and hipstery and lacking in quality or taste, but this is the opposite. Affordable, expertly made, and as authentically awesome as you could hope. Yes it's a little truck, so try not to come it's too freezing (like, 8 months of the year in these parts ugh), or if you do, I suggest eating in your car like I did. Also Smokey's is where they filmed the movie Almost Famous, obviously. And when I eat the hot dogs here, then much like Kate Hudson wearing her sexiest Fabletics outfit, I am a Golden God.

Maybe they just don't know what a real hotdog should be... all beef with a natural casing grilled to perfection... not this place... their hotdogs reminded me of eating a boiled hotdog at the school cafeteria. The chili dogs I had tasted like it was a reheat from the day before... nothing like the Texas chili I've grown accustomed too. The lady smoking between orders should've been a red flag right away. The tables out front were weathered and dotted with bird poop. This lunch truck is an easy pass... there are other spots to have lunch at that are more enjoyable.

Well, Chicago has their hot dog version, New York has the famous water dog from a street cart but my all time favorite is a Rhody Dog! Toppings may include: Meat sauce, often called "wiener sauce" Yellow mustard Chopped onions Celery salt And Wally's Wieners has a lunch special, *Two Rhody Dogs w/ Fries for $10 bucks! (My wife is now looking at me with disgust) Listen, I am an adult and if I want to eat wieners? I will do so with a beer. Wally's Wieners has a side parking lot. We walk upstairs into a nice space. Large bar to the right, to the left is a nice size dining area. There is a larger space, almost like a speakeasy in the back?! Our waitress was nice, I point to the special on the board and ask for a local beer. My wife orders a smashburger, all is right with the world. My Rhody Dogs? Perfection. The ratio of ground beef, yellow mustard and chopped onion makes this Providence treat something special. I love a good hot dog, er wiener. Wally's, very impressed! I've been to Wally's a few times since my last review and each experience has gotten a bit better…read more My most recent experience at Wally was a couple weeks ago and it was great. I made a couple of modifications to both the martini tree and the hotdog tiered platter. I asked for beef hotdogs well done and well done toasted buns. That made all the difference to the flavor of the hotdogs for me. The only thing I am still bummed about is that the chili has pork in it. If anyone's reading this, pretty please make either a vegetarian chili or an all beef chili. I have been dying for a chili dog. I liked that you could try a variety of different hotdogs from the menu with the tiered platter. You get five hotdogs as well as five sauces and fries are on top. It was a great way to select different things on the menu to see what you like, and it's definitely shareable if you cut the hotdogs in half or if you and your friend pick which ones you'd like and split the cost. On the hotdog toppings had good flavor, and the fries were nice and crispy with a good texture. All the sauces were different and I liked dipping the fries in them. My friend and I split the martini tree which is six mini martinis on each side. It probably equals about three regular martinis each we were able to sub out some of the flavors that we didn't like for an extra fee. That was totally worth it because it made it a much more enjoyable experience as both of us really do not like almond joy or the dark martinis. We subbed in the chai espresso martini, and the hazelnut. Our service was great, our waiter was super attentive and really helpful with all the questions I had. I really appreciated his patience and knowledge of the menu. The bathrooms were clean, and I do like the color palette of the restaurant with the pastel pinks and greens. Will definitely come back for this meal again soon!

We were told our order was going to take 15 minutes, and when we return in that time the worker informs us that the food is going to take another 12 minutes because-- to paraphrase-- they were busy packing orders. That 30 minute wait resulted in pickles that tasted like vaguely vinegary cucumbers, dumplings that resembled frozen food in taste and consistency, and medium-boiled eggs that tasted nearly nothing like ajitsuke. The chicken I ordered with my bowl was really the only good thing I got from it, but it was overshadowed by there being about eight times as much rice than the chicken. There were only four pieces of chicken in the bowl and at least 25 bites of unseasoned white rice. Update: As we were leaving, the sole worker in the establishment started smoking a blunt after throwing out the trash. I have to advise you don't come here.
