It's an open kitchen, so we got to listen to all of the sordid conversation topics of the kitchen staff. I'm just really not into hearing about other awful customers, as a customer. Such a unique concept for a restaurant, but it works! We tried Bun Buds for the first time last night and were very impressed by our experience. The staff were extremely warm, welcoming, and took pride in their work. They were immediately willing to give us suggestions of their favorite menu items! We got the platter for 2, which came with a combination of various dumplings, bao buns and a hot dog. The food was very fresh. The kimchi and pickle sides were also incredible and very tastefully done! The only thing to keep in mind in the winter months is that their Fall River location has no indoor seating for dine-in, so we had to eat from our car... however, it looks like they have some outdoor seating available for the warmer weather! I've chowed at BunBuds since their days as a food cart, and it's so awesome to see how far they've come! We visited the brick-and-mortar location around their grand opening and were stoked to check out the new space. With fun murals and brand colors dressing up the place, BunBuds definitely feels like a go-to spot for hangouts and quick bites. There are plenty of menu items to choose from, with fun and creative options for hot dogs, dumplings and bao. And I have to say - I absolutely adore their mascots. They're just too darn cute! Starting our adventure off strong, we went for the Tokyo Drift dogs from their OG's selection. Dressed in spicy mayo, eel sauce, bonito flakes and scallions, this one was an instant hit for my partner with all the umami flavors going on. I refused to leave without trying their spicy pork dumplings, topped with sriracha, chili crisp oil, sesame seeds and scallions - an automatic win for me. The dumpling wrapper had a nice bite to it, slightly veering from traditional flavors but still a solid vessel for holding everything in and mopping up the garnishes. Lastly, we tried their char siu pork belly bao with house pickles, sesame seeds, and scallions. The bao itself was airy and soft - super good, I could probably eat them on their own. The pork belly? Tender, flavorful and paired well with the rest of the fillings. Needless to say, the presentation of every dish feels thoughtful and well-executed, offering an elevated yet relaxed vibe. While I find the choice of hot dogs and buns to be interesting, it's exactly this kind of creative decision that makes BunBuds stand out - unique, outside the box and always fun to explore. I've been following Bun Buds on Instagram for a few months now and was so excited to see they opened a brick & mortar restaurant location in Fall River. It all started with two students studying at Johnson and Wales whom were given the opportunity of a lifetime to kickstart their careers thanks to the kindness of a professor and the gift of a hot dog cart. They came up with the name Bun Buds because they serve both hot dogs and dumplings (two different types of buns) and they are buds hence Bun Buds. On Friday, July 5, 2024, Bun Buds food truck was at Guild Beer Garden and that was when I finally got my chance to visit the food truck. The food truck menu offers dumplings and hot dogs. The restaurant menu offers a few more additional items. I ordered the 5 piece Chicken Teriyaki Gyoza spicy (Chili crisp oil and sriracha) and the 3 piece pork dumplings straight up (scallion oil and sesame seeds). Both came with a little dipping sauce on the side. The gyoza was spicy and definitely had a kick, but I really enjoyed it. The pork dumplings were bigger than the gyoza and were very juicy and had a good filling. I am looking forward to trying their classic footlong hot dogs next. read more

Our first time- Staff was welcoming and pleasant. out side seating is available, we sat inside at a bar for two, but no true inside seating, very busy with take out orders but our food came in a timely manner. we tried the 10 dumpling platter and BBC hot dog Hot dog was a 3.5 out of 5 standard hot dog fair.. the dumpling platter was steamed to order, so call ahead or allow time the dumpling texture was nice the dips and topping where very mild in flavor so if you like heat or more flavor or try one of the spicier toppings . vegetable was mild, pork had the most flavor, and the chicken was mild as well all the dumpling where decently filled. very cold soda was welcoming on a very hot day off street parking was available but limited and not handicap accessible a step up to get inside. Wow! Finally made it to Bun Buds in Fall River, MA. Worth the drive from wherever you are. Not really a sit down place, mostly to go, but wow, wow, wow! DELICIOUS! We decided to pick up the special dumpling platter for New Year's Eve (and saving those for later tonight). I had the Korean BBQ bao buns and hubs and offspring each had a BBC (BBQ bacon cheese) footling hotdog. We should've taken pics of the food. It was impressive. For a small food cart they sure do pack in big flavors! Had the pleasure of trying a few menu items this past weekend at the 3rd Friday Fall River Food Truck event. So many amazing vendors and food trucks. Jake and Ananya are co owners and are such incredible people. Bun Buds combines 2 unique menu items that just pair so well together. If you haven't guessed it, it's hot dogs & dumplings! Now these are not your typical dogs found at any other stand, they offer fun and innovative toppings such as kimchi and pho sauce! My personal favorite were the spicy dumplings but they offer a more classic version as well. 3 jumbo dumplings topped with chili oil, furikaki, sriracha, and paired with a dipping sauce. Make no mistake, they are called the spicy dumplings for good reason but that being said these were hands down the best dumplings I've had anywhere! Ordered 2 fire breather hot dogs a BBC dog and an order of dumplings. All for under $30. Dumplings were amazing and the Hot dogs were great- the fire breathers could be spicier but they were still amazing. That was my first reaction to the comment from Ananya and Jake But one bite into the succulent shrimp cleared my brain of all confusion as the flavors exploded, then mellowmelted in the mouth! I can safely say that I am not a huge fast food fan, but this was on a different level! We tried the Rajun Cajun, the Pho Dog, and the Jumbo Dumplings. Ananya noted that the Rajun Cajun idea came from her recent internship in New Orleans. Hot Luisiana sauce, pepper jelly, and pickled onions complemented the perfectly cooked shrimp, and two days later, I am still salivating. The basil-cilantro-lime flavors in my Pho Dog were well balanced with the jalapenos. The crispy noodles added just the right oomph! Last but not least were the truly JUMBO dumplings filled with a deliciously fulfilling stuffing. What else can I add ? My only thought now is - When can I go back to Bunbuds?
