Our family grandfather clock that was given to me.
Lisa S.

Nick communicated a date and followed up to make sure the date still worked. He showed up on time and definitely knows his stuff!! Very reasonable rates as well. I highly recommend. Will use him again to service our old grandfather clock. We just moved and the mover took the clock apart in order to move it. We needed someone to put it back together and check it out. He had it working in no time!

I made you uncomfortable? I was busy baking in another room and kept my conversation with you to a minimum.

Seth Thomas Mantel Clock

I have a very old Seth Thomas Westminster Chime mantel clock that I got from my Grandmother 45 years ago. It may very well be 100 years old. The Westminster chime has not worked for 40 years. Every clock repair place I called said it could not be fixed. Nick got it working in less than two weeks. It runs beautifully and brings back the sounds of my childhood. I highly recommend Nick. Thank you so much Nick!!!

My family's grandfather clock. It's a Howard Miller from 1978

Nick's Clock REPAIR did a great job on the three clocks that I brought in, and were completed on time as promised.

Nick fixed my clock and was very reasonable. The price he quoted was the price he charged. Did not try to upsell me.

Had a great experience with Nick. Friendly and easy to do business with. Quick turnaround on repairing our clock, and it is good as new.

Ask the Community - Nick's Clock Repair

Would you be able fix a chess timer clock that has stopped it's minute and hour ticking, specifically Jerger brand?

To be honest I don't think I have had to fix one but I would be happy to take a look at it and see what I can do. 6161. 2nd St, Rio Linda, California,95673… Read more

Do you service Raymund Weil wristwatch?

I only service clocks myself. Pocket watches and wrist watches I send out to be done. For wrist watches I use Gillians on Fulton ave at Arden.

My original review as been long overdue for an update. Probably because I haven't needed his…read moreservices again until now. This time Joe K and I had 3 items that required repairs. My previous bathroom clock stopped working and a new battery didn't do the trick. Apparently, the battery had leaked and caused some corrosion. Joe has an old waterproof watch that he is very attached to, because his brother had given it to him many years ago. It turned out to be rare and according to other repair places, unfix-able. Then thirdly, I acquired my beloved grandmother's old vintage clock that not only has cherished sentimental value, but it's one of the few items that belonged to my "nanny" that I have in my possession. The downside about having complicated time pieces in need of repair is, that it can take an awful long time! Parts can be hard to locate and doing the work itself may require extra care and precision. The owner seems quite devoted to his craft. But patience is necessary on the customers part. Eventually, the service will be completed! The owner is not known for keeping you apprised, so you may have to call for the updates on your own, just for peace of mind. So far, I received my first clock, which took a few weeks, but working well again. Unfortunately, it took several months for my grandmother's clock to be rejuvenated. I do understand that it is an antique, so finding the necessary gadgetry takes detective work. But I couldn't be happier to have it back in my life! Not only is it in great running order, but the clear acrylic that housed the clock itself was restored to it's former crystal clear self! I brought it in yellowed with age (or possibly from my grandma's smoking habit). I couldn't believe how much better it looked! I'm so thankful to have my beautiful clocks back home! Joe K's watch is still a work in progress. The watch is repaired, but the search for a replacement crystal is still on going.....

A machinist & single, considering such an expensive watch must have taken him a long time to earn the cash to purchase such a beautiful time piece. He only wore it for special occasions. It is in excellent condition. Not a scratch on the watch crystal (face). The wind up stem broke about 6 months ago. I was devastated. Who could I trust to fix my dad's watch? The answer, Paul's Watch repair in Sacramento! 100 miles from Chico! A multi-generational watch repair business going back over 125 years in Romania and then brought over to the US where the family business has been located in the Sacramento area since 1989! Please read their history on their webpage. The watch wind up stem was replaced within a week and my dad's watch is good as new! The service provided to me by Paul Jr. was professional, courteous and this senior gentleman a few years older than myself, was kind and informative. BTW: We both look much younger than our ages! Paul patiently explained the mechanism of my watch that needed to be repaired. He also shared with me his knowledge of how to maintain the operation of a watch that has no battery or wind up stem. It continues to operate with motion. I have two of these watches. All while continuing to work on a repair of one of many watches they fix daily. Many arrive from other US states! I also met his son Raimond, who was busy in the back on watch projects. If you have a watch repair or would like an education or suggestions regarding your watch or watches in general, research no further! Take a drive to Paul's Watch Repair or mail your precious time piece to their business location for repair. You will not be disappointed! The cost for the repair of my Dad's watch was reasonable and they replace watch batteries while you wait, maybe 5 minutes!

First of all, I understand your frustration, but what I don't understand is how you generalized me…read moreinto a category of people who "modify" watches in a condescending way while just raising your voice the entire conversation. Raimond, please learn to be humble, respect your dad, and also learn how to treat/respect your customers. Heads up to anyone bringing an expensive watch or a lower priced watch to this shop, Raimond the son will not care if he leaves dust in your watch and just blame it on manufacturing defects as an excuse of his lack of craftsmanship. Also, I didn't even notice the scratch you left on my watch from swapping the glass and this plus that whole situation that happened is why I am leaving a one star. You are not competent to be repairing watches if you can't swap a crystal without leaving dust in the watch and scratching the watch in the process. I brought in my new Seiko watch that I had purchased weeks prior to changing out the crystal. Paul the shop owner said it would be $40 and to give them a couple of days. The job was done hours later on the same day, but I picked it up days later. On arrival I inspected the watch in the shop for any dust and there was a lot. I gave it back to Raimond who had said his father Paul had swapped the glass and that he himself would remove the dust. I came back days later after it was done and I again inspected it. There was still a lot of dust so I told Raimond about it and this is where he got heated and started raising his voice blaming the quality of the watch and sapphire glass. He said "all you Seiko people who want to modify your watches always have something to say when you get your watches back. Of course you will see dust when looking at it under a macro lens". (I was looking at it with my bare eyes in the shop) I calmly talked to him telling him that it is not the watch face or crystal because before bringing it here it was brand new, I inspected it when I purchased it and it had never been opened before. He goes on yelling on how he got into an argument with his dad on how his dad who swapped the crystal first should have done a better job. He then brought up how some Rolex have defects and that my watch since it is a Seiko, is guaranteed that it will have defects. He kept going on about how it was not dust and it was the watch face or the crystal. This entire time his father Paul is sitting next to me while his son is yelling and I was not trying to argue with this man in front of his dad who is a lot older. I felt sorry for Paul and how his son Raimond handled this situation. Eventually we did not get anywhere, Raimond said he would not open it back up because he was set on that it was manufacturing defects on the watch face or crystal. For future customers hopefully this review is a warning on how Raimond treats his customers. Paul seemed like a cool guy when I met him on the first day that I dropped off my watch. Raimond, if you don't have the skill to do a job like this just tell me and I will take it to another watch shop instead of yelling at me and blaming it on manufacturing defects on the watch or crystal. Just own up to your mistakes like a grown man that you are and don't act like a child throwing a tantrum.

Nissan Sentra 2021…read more I rented a Mid-Size vehicle for a week to take a trip out of State. The vehicle that was randomly selected by the rental company was a 2021 Nissan Sentra. From the outside the vehicle looks roomy and sleek, right on the edge of sporty. The model I received is a 4 cylinder, with 38,800 miles on it. So, it was broken in and any issues it may have had, will have been worked out before my piloting experience. Coming from a rental company, I am presuming that it is a basic stock model without any real frills. The interior is deceiving from the external appearance, as the forward cabin seemed small and a little cramped when getting in for the first time. It is a Push-to-Start with the presence of a proximity fob. The instrument panel is bright and offers several display options from Speed, Trip-Meter, Mileage per Gallon, etc. Additionally, to the right of the driver's side is a 10 inch display that offers terrestrial radio (AM/FM), Sirius Radio and Bluetooth as well as USB linking with your Android or Apple platform phone. So, if you are viewing Google maps, etc. for instance, it will be displayed on the heads-up screen. This was very convenient while navigating unknown areas and cities. There is one USB-C, one USB-2, a 3.5mm phono plug and a D/C accessory plug. Hence, it will accommodate nearly every type of linking one may need for electronic accessories (Phones, Tablets, 3.5V for D/C devices like C.B. Radio, etc.). The forward seats are a little ridged and the positioning mechanisms are all manual. To manipulate the seat up or down for driver comfort and visibility, there is a hydraulic device where you lift/pump the lever up or down to achieve vertical adjustments. Behind that lever is an additional manual lever that sets the seat forward and back horizontally. This was different, yet as stated "No Frills". I spent a little time in the back seat and I will say it was comfortable, yet a little cramped. The bench seat was a little stiff and after about four hours, you will (Your Passengers) may want a break. The suspension is a little stiff so the ride can be rough. The seats are a somewhat ridged, which add insult to injury if you encounter a lot of pot holes. Overall, the back seat is what it is, just be conscious of your passengers comfort and afford them a periodic break. I initially drove from Sacramento, CA. to Provo/Orem, UT going through Nevada, using Interstate 80. Unlike California, there are sections of Nevada and Utah where the speed limit is 80mph. The little 4 cylinder is peppy and could keep that pace while only pushing a hare over 2,000 RPM. This keeps the fuel cost low, even at excessive speeds. The in-town MPG (Miles Per Gallon) average was 32.2mpg and on the freeway it averaged 42.4mpg. The handling was solid and the steering is extremely responsive to the edge of being overly sensative. On the turns however, it had a tendency to drift prematurely coming out of the apex of a turn. When entering at the posted or suggested speed limit it is very tight and responsive. Yet if you are powering out of the turn following the apex of the turn, the vehicle will not follow-through naturally, as one will have to compensate with the wheel to maintain their line of exit and maintain a natural drift to the outside of the corner. It is a minor eccentricity of the steering, however if one is not careful, one may pull in too close or drift out too far, risking an unscheduled merge into oncoming traffic. So, keep your head on a swivel if you are navigating mountain roads. The suspension is stiff and not very forgiving, hence the vehicle may get squirrely and could slide in icy or snowy conditions. To segue into driving conditions, I had the opportunity to drive the Sentra in Full Sun at 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, to cold conditions and snow, leveling the Mercury at a brisk 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It did stay stable in both conditions and the only critique is as previously stated, one may have to steering correct while in turns. I know a lot of the handling is a result of the tires and the PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) they have based upon elevation and weather conditions. Despite the lack of bleeding or adding air to the tires based upon the conditions, it did well in all of the driving environments I encountered. In conclusion, if you are looking for great basic transportation with some newer upgraded amenities, then the Nissan Sentra is a great commuter vehicle. The pros, definitely outweigh the cons. It is great on gas mileage and handling, yet the cabin is a little cramped if you are over 5'11'' (my height). Some minor upgrades, such as performance wheels and tires will make it more likable and fun to drive. If I was in the market for a commuter vehicle that is great for two to three hour runs, I would consider the Sentra. Hence 4 Stars! Well done Nissan, Impressive, Most Impressive!

We bought a Nissan Rogue from the St Charles, Illinois location…read more They were shut down by the state for ripping people off. We therefore lost our lifetime powertrain warranty. Okay, fine. Sucks. We're over it. We bought an extended warranty through them and were told it was bumper to bumper to 100k miles.Guess what? It is not either of those. (We didn't receive any paperwork about it, just the policy number) We are paying for a warranty that barely covers anything other than what the CPO warranty covers, and now we have our car at the Woodfield Nissan location and have to pay over $600 (two car payments) to repair a clock spring that SHOULD have been covered under the bumper to bumper warranty that we don't actually have. Does Nissan have any plans of fixing St Charles' screw ups? Basically every single person who bought from that dealer is screwed, and since we bought the car, it's been one issue after another. For instance, I thought there was a problem with the CVT. St Charles didn't even want to look at it - said it was normal. We drove 10k miles (most of it well out of state) and come to find out St Charles lied to us and we had a bad trans. Can't wait to get rid of this car and switch to a reliable company...

My boyfriend and I were pretty antiqued out but decided to hit up this place since it was one of the few shops we hadn't gone inside. I'm so glad we did. This place is fantastic. It's filled with rare, thoughtfully selected pieces in a warm, dimly lit, well-designed showroom that almost gives off a vibe as though I just walked into someone's home. Attached to each item is a tag with the individual history, which adds an almost emotional element to their goods. We met the owners, who cordially spoke with us about their love of antiques and repurposing vintage pieces. We will make Sekula's one of our must-do stops from now on.
