Called them to see if they would repair my clock. They do not sell parts and their minimum charge is $60. No thanks.

Nick arrived on time, explained a little bit about how he approaches the repair, what the cost might be and what worst case scenarios would be, and I let him go to work. Of the 35 years we've owned it, it only was running, intentionally, for maybe 15 years, so there was not a lot of wear and tear. Nick went through the entire clockworks, reattached weights, went through all the chime and moon sequences, then synced the pendulum to keep time within a tight specification with the use of some sort of electronic device (I did not get the name). He cleaned and lubricated the clock workings, and was probably done within an hour. His fee was extremely reasonable, 1/5 the amount of the highest bid that I had received to date. Finally, Nick is personable and I would recommend him without hesitation.

Just be careful, he seems nice enough, just be careful, get everything in WRITTING. I have to keep learning these lessons.

My original review as been long overdue for an update. Probably because I haven't needed his…read moreservices again until now. This time Joe K and I had 3 items that required repairs. My previous bathroom clock stopped working and a new battery didn't do the trick. Apparently, the battery had leaked and caused some corrosion. Joe has an old waterproof watch that he is very attached to, because his brother had given it to him many years ago. It turned out to be rare and according to other repair places, unfix-able. Then thirdly, I acquired my beloved grandmother's old vintage clock that not only has cherished sentimental value, but it's one of the few items that belonged to my "nanny" that I have in my possession. The downside about having complicated time pieces in need of repair is, that it can take an awful long time! Parts can be hard to locate and doing the work itself may require extra care and precision. The owner seems quite devoted to his craft. But patience is necessary on the customers part. Eventually, the service will be completed! The owner is not known for keeping you apprised, so you may have to call for the updates on your own, just for peace of mind. So far, I received my first clock, which took a few weeks, but working well again. Unfortunately, it took several months for my grandmother's clock to be rejuvenated. I do understand that it is an antique, so finding the necessary gadgetry takes detective work. But I couldn't be happier to have it back in my life! Not only is it in great running order, but the clear acrylic that housed the clock itself was restored to it's former crystal clear self! I brought it in yellowed with age (or possibly from my grandma's smoking habit). I couldn't believe how much better it looked! I'm so thankful to have my beautiful clocks back home! Joe K's watch is still a work in progress. The watch is repaired, but the search for a replacement crystal is still on going.....

A machinist & single, considering such an expensive watch must have taken him a long time to earn the cash to purchase such a beautiful time piece. He only wore it for special occasions. It is in excellent condition. Not a scratch on the watch crystal (face). The wind up stem broke about 6 months ago. I was devastated. Who could I trust to fix my dad's watch? The answer, Paul's Watch repair in Sacramento! 100 miles from Chico! A multi-generational watch repair business going back over 125 years in Romania and then brought over to the US where the family business has been located in the Sacramento area since 1989! Please read their history on their webpage. The watch wind up stem was replaced within a week and my dad's watch is good as new! The service provided to me by Paul Jr. was professional, courteous and this senior gentleman a few years older than myself, was kind and informative. BTW: We both look much younger than our ages! Paul patiently explained the mechanism of my watch that needed to be repaired. He also shared with me his knowledge of how to maintain the operation of a watch that has no battery or wind up stem. It continues to operate with motion. I have two of these watches. All while continuing to work on a repair of one of many watches they fix daily. Many arrive from other US states! I also met his son Raimond, who was busy in the back on watch projects. If you have a watch repair or would like an education or suggestions regarding your watch or watches in general, research no further! Take a drive to Paul's Watch Repair or mail your precious time piece to their business location for repair. You will not be disappointed! The cost for the repair of my Dad's watch was reasonable and they replace watch batteries while you wait, maybe 5 minutes!

First of all, I understand your frustration, but what I don't understand is how you generalized me…read moreinto a category of people who "modify" watches in a condescending way while just raising your voice the entire conversation. Raimond, please learn to be humble, respect your dad, and also learn how to treat/respect your customers. Heads up to anyone bringing an expensive watch or a lower priced watch to this shop, Raimond the son will not care if he leaves dust in your watch and just blame it on manufacturing defects as an excuse of his lack of craftsmanship. Also, I didn't even notice the scratch you left on my watch from swapping the glass and this plus that whole situation that happened is why I am leaving a one star. You are not competent to be repairing watches if you can't swap a crystal without leaving dust in the watch and scratching the watch in the process. I brought in my new Seiko watch that I had purchased weeks prior to changing out the crystal. Paul the shop owner said it would be $40 and to give them a couple of days. The job was done hours later on the same day, but I picked it up days later. On arrival I inspected the watch in the shop for any dust and there was a lot. I gave it back to Raimond who had said his father Paul had swapped the glass and that he himself would remove the dust. I came back days later after it was done and I again inspected it. There was still a lot of dust so I told Raimond about it and this is where he got heated and started raising his voice blaming the quality of the watch and sapphire glass. He said "all you Seiko people who want to modify your watches always have something to say when you get your watches back. Of course you will see dust when looking at it under a macro lens". (I was looking at it with my bare eyes in the shop) I calmly talked to him telling him that it is not the watch face or crystal because before bringing it here it was brand new, I inspected it when I purchased it and it had never been opened before. He goes on yelling on how he got into an argument with his dad on how his dad who swapped the crystal first should have done a better job. He then brought up how some Rolex have defects and that my watch since it is a Seiko, is guaranteed that it will have defects. He kept going on about how it was not dust and it was the watch face or the crystal. This entire time his father Paul is sitting next to me while his son is yelling and I was not trying to argue with this man in front of his dad who is a lot older. I felt sorry for Paul and how his son Raimond handled this situation. Eventually we did not get anywhere, Raimond said he would not open it back up because he was set on that it was manufacturing defects on the watch face or crystal. For future customers hopefully this review is a warning on how Raimond treats his customers. Paul seemed like a cool guy when I met him on the first day that I dropped off my watch. Raimond, if you don't have the skill to do a job like this just tell me and I will take it to another watch shop instead of yelling at me and blaming it on manufacturing defects on the watch or crystal. Just own up to your mistakes like a grown man that you are and don't act like a child throwing a tantrum.
