Had a company provide a quote for new heating/air conditioning system which came in at 19,000.00. I then called a few other companies which included Nichols. After getting 4 bids I decided on Nichols because what he said made sense and they were" by far the most cost effective." March 28th, 2022. Hired Nicols Plumbing in 2021 for basic Backflow test. Inspector came out as scheduled, everything passed - great. Historically inspection company gives the numbers to Aqua...and Aqua accepts numbers through their Backflow contractor portal, email or fax. Had trouble making the payment.... if the owner answered, I was directed to make payment with office people. Left voicemails, no one responded back. When I get finally the assistant, assistant insists on charging an extra $20 to what was agreed. Big red flag right there however it was done just get it paid and over. Surprisingly Aqua keeps sending nasty-grams of non-compliance. Nichols took the money, with the extra $20 and kept giving me the run around. Eventually I asked for the numbers personally soI can provide to Aqua myself, to which the owner agreed. Guess what - we are three weeks in and no numbers and no communication. They refuse to take calls, respond to emails. * Nichols charged more than agreed * Nichols never furnished the report * Nichols never refunded the money * Nichols refuses to communicate Highly unprofessional, and this unprofessional attitude and behavior is consistent with other reviews. Amazing customer service and overall experience! I have been (unfortunately) ghosted by my handyman and other contractors for several weeks. I filled out the online form today and someone (Rich) came over in a few hours to give an assessment and estimate. Nichols Plumbing is rude and untrustworthy. They were assigned as the independent contractor by our home warranty company to come take care of our septic tank. They never called us, we left messages, for over a week. It got to the point of we needed someone to come out immediately because our septic tank was backing up into our showers & sinks & we had toilets overflowing. I contacted my home warranty company at that point and they told me Nichols couldn't come out to assist us that we needed to find someone on our own. We found Belton Septic Tank Service (910) 425-8876 through neighborhood recommendations and they helped us right away with great service and at a very reasonable cost. read more

A few weeks ago the city came out to replace our water meter and found leaky valves upon inspection. We were referred to Nichols by a family friend. My husband made the call, no price or info was given to him by the female dispatcher, only a time window when the plumber would arrive. If I recall, the window was 8-11 and the plumber arrived at 10. Brief introduction, I opened the garage and 30-45 mins later he was done. He handed me an invoice and off he went. On the bill was a labor charge for $170 and $40 for parts. It seemed high so I emailed. I received feedback and 3 days later an answer regarding our concern. Dispatcher: "Ok so I told Chris about the issue and he said we charge for travel time and that may have been into that time. We will take off a half hour and the rate is 115 a hour so I changed the bill and attached it!" Me: "Oh. Ok. Our house is right next door to your warehouse. Our backyard faces you. Does that change anything?" Dispatcher: "Well if he was there 1st you would have 0 travel time but he was coming from somewhere else because it was in the middle of the day. If you ever schedule things with us and do not want any travel charge it would be 1st or last!!!!" My deductions are based off of the lack of info we were given prior to scheduling an appointment. Had we been notified of travel charges we would have scheduled the first appointment. My advice would be to ask what all of your charges include. In the middle of the heat wave my air conditioning decided to quit. Called Nichols and they were out that day...after hours no less! I was worried I would be waiting for weeks! They troubleshooted the system and did not believe I needed to buy a new one. The issue was not straight forward and they needed come back several times. They were never frustrated with me and were very complete. I was grateful for their professionalism and also their attention to COVID precautions. Their bill was very reasonable and we were grateful. Our experience was poor. The last-ditch repair Nichols made to our aging oil burner was unsuccessful, and though it is understandable that not every $500+ repair yields good results, what really disappointed us was Nichols' refusal to speak to our home warranty company about the repair. Nichols was aware that the repair was covered by our home warranty, and that it was based on the home warranty company authorizing the repair that we agreed to have it done, but when the home warranty company had questions, no one from Nichols would speak to them. I called Nichols several times asking them to return the warranty company's calls, but it never happened. On one occasion, the receptionist was quite snippy with me for bothering them. All I wanted was for someone to have a five minute conversation explaining the repair so that I'd get the $500+ I had coming to me, but apparently, this was too much trouble. Again, they knew that we were only willing to risk money on repairing the old system because of our home warranty, but they just took our money and ran after making the unsuccessful repair. I called about 10 plumbers today for a big Leak we had at the office. I found Nichols plumbing and gave it a shot. I called their office and a woman named Stephanie answered, she was extremely polite and helpful she told me that they would be out to my office in 20 minutes. I heard that earlier from a different plumber and they never showed up. 20 minutes later a Nichols truck pulled up and the guy came up to me very friendly I pointed him in the direction of the issue and he immediately got to work and told me not to worry about anything. Within an hour or so he was done and the job was completed perfectly. Their prices are very reasonable especially for a last Minute emergency type situation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I called Nichols they sent some slob named Rich over he showed up with a cup of coffee and talked on his phone the WHOLE TIME. His helper named Matt was a nice guy who was clean cut and courteous. I was charged 700 dollars. The plumber handed me a bill with no break down of the charges . he said its 120 dollars an hour and you get charged for travel time and gas.
