I went there because the Nejaimes used to run a grocery store in my hometown of Harwinton, CT…read more (They then went on, in the 1960's, to open "Nejaime's Stockbridge Shop," a grocery store which was immortalized in a painting by the renowned artist Norman Rockwell.) I found out (from Mike Nejaime, a relative who works at my local liquor store--Ponte's Torringford Liquor Store) that even though the grocery shop has changed hands, the Nejaime family runs a couple of wine shops in that area so I wanted to speak with one of the Nejaimes. (My dad was Lebanese, so I am half, and they are Lebanese, so we also had that fond connection.) When I walked into the Lenox store, I was greeted warmly by a man working there and a nice lady as well who asked if she could help me. I said I'd like to speak to a Nejaime, and she went into the back and brought back Joe Nejaime, the proprieter, who is the son of owners of the little grocery store in Harwinton, CT from my childhood. Joe was nice as could be, and we talked and reminisced about the store from our childhood days. I ended up telling him that I saw him and his store on an episode of "The Real Housewives of New York City." He told me that Dorinda Medley (one of my favorites) has a house close by there. I was so excited to buy her signature Bourbon, and Joe even took a selfie with me! The store is immaculately clean and has an amazing selection of wines and liquors. I can't imagine you'd get better service, as well. Stop in sometime! (They also have a Stockbridge location as well as the Lenox store.)

Coming from New York State, where…read morealcohol prices are much higher, Chico's is one of the most reasonable priced locations in Massachusetts that we have found. We often have had Chico himself give us recommendations and assistance. We love them so much we even used them for our wedding spirit needs despite the additional 40 minute drive. Always professional, prices are great and the selections are really good. Our last visit just recently, the gentleman behind the counter was not very knowledgeable about the wine selections we were asking about but made a quick call to Chico who walked him through and we talked to him as well to get the selections we needed. Customer service is on point!

They have a packed fridge of chilled wines ready to go for a super convenient pick up. They also have a decent number of mini alcohol bottles as well as every kind of hard liquor you could want. Some IPA's and more hard cider than I would care for. They have more varieties Leinenkugel and mini 6 pack bottles of Barefoot than I've ver seen before! Also a nice variety of Sammy Adams because hey, we're in Mass right?! Best selection of crafts? No. Switchback was about the most unique, but definitely made me smile and think of VT. We had no problem finding something to just throw back while sitting by the fire on a crisp night while roasting s'mores so yes, a successful stop. Prices were standard despite being the only atop around and checkout was easy. They even gave us a bottle opener to take with us. They sell local jerky and lottery tickets also. Lots of funny signs posted around the store, but the one behind the register that reads "I don't call 911" with a photo of a shotgun quickly reminded me "we're not in Kansas aka Philly anymore".

The new management of Hudson Wine Merchants is not community-minded like its founders. Example:…read moreThey made their staff whine before the SLA to oppose a liquor license for a new shop which would have been located miles and miles outside of Hudson--claiming that it would cause too much competition for them. Absolutely ridiculous: HWM is a high-end niche business based on Warren Street's fancy clientele. A liquor store across from a gas station two towns away, selling Wild Turkey and Popov, was no threat to HWM. I was a regular when Michael and Marianne owned HWM, but I'll never spend another penny thete because of this petty behavior against a great Livingston family.
