The front desk told me to email my gum pictures and videos to their office to see if anything they could do to help, but they never explained to the patient that it was going to be a telehealth phone review visit and insurance would not cover it. This nonsense Dr. Sarah called me back and said she can't prescribe anything without seeing and examining the patient and suggested I make an appointment to go in to get treatment. That was the whole conversation. She never diagnosed my gum or prescribed anything for it. I waited and never made an appointment for it. Luckily I got to heal on my own. So they billed me $120 for a telehealth/phone visit because they were trying to bill my insurance for $150. They knew insurance would not pay them for telehealth (non-covered billing code) and still submitted a claim? They could've told the patient that telehealth will charge for the phone call. Do you still want to continue with the call with the doctor? I would've told them no, and I will come in to the office instead. They never had good communication at first. They didn't care and think about the patient. They want to get more money from patients; it's the truth. They couldn't get paid from my insurance and asked the patient to pay a ridiculously overpriced medical advice fee? And how much is the regular office visit fee? $50? I was trying to explain the situation to Dr. Silverman. Seems like he doesn't even care about patient satisfaction or not. He just said Dr. Sarah has a registered license and she allowed to bill patient even patient is not getting treated? Not just talking about the ridiculous medical advice fee, the office manager, Cathy, was very unprofessional and rude to the patient. Talked about I'm not worth their time. She always tries to find a way to talk down to the patient and always asks the patient to spend unnecessary money at their dental office. She is always mocking me when I refuse certain unnecessary services they want to provide me. She always said, "You worked for the hospital; you should know about certain common things in life." "You'd rather spend money on your hair and your nails." She doesn't think this is inappropriate. Yes, I work for the hospital, but I'm not a dentist! I have the right to refuse the care they provided me. Spending money on my personal things is my choice; don't need your judgment! I only want to share my horrible experience here. They took it very personally and said writing a review about them is a threat? Your poor service and poor communication with patients--people need to know it's a fact. I contacted my insurance provider, who advised me not to pay out of pocket and instructed the office to submit the claim to insurance. I relayed this information to the practice; however, they continue to insist that insurance will not cover the charge and that I am personally responsible for payment. I believe this billing is inappropriate given that no evaluation or diagnosis was completed, and the ongoing calls have been distressing. I encourage others to carefully review their billing statements and clarify all charges before leaving an appointment, because this is clearly a SCAM STRATEGY they have going on.

Emily and Melanie follows up before every visit to confirm the appointment and will also send a reminder that there is a $50 penalty for same day cancellations. Every single staff exude kindness and friendliness. I have been to the office (3) times now and every visit, the experience is seamless. This place is a little more expensive than other practices, but you do get what you pay for. It's a Korean practice but no need to worry if you don't speak the language as Dr. Song is fluent in English. However communicating with the staff can pose a challenge. The office has a premium feel as the walls are covered with what looks like a design print of a Gucci bag as well as a crystal chandelier hanging in the waiting room. There are two computer stations and a few video game consoles to help patients pass the time. Each dental chair is outfitted with an LCD TV because after you get called in from the waiting room, you have to wait again in the chair. Again if you're not Korean or not a fan of Korean game shows, I would recommend bringing a book or a newspaper. After about 15 minutes of waiting in the dental chair, someone from the staff will do routine work like removing the plastic chain from your braces. The staff is very friendly and make a huge effort to make you comfortable. After the staff is done, Dr. Song comes around and examines your progress. She's a perfectionist so she takes the time and effort to make sure that things turn out perfect. I just got my top braces off and am very happy with the result. My boss said I have "Hollywood" teeth. Now I'm trying to get back into the habit of smiling and showing off my pearly whites...well maybe after a few weeks of using Crest Whitestrips. I recommend parking on the street as the basement garage is very tight and it's a high probability that you'll scratch your car.

I went to this place to get a retainer, which I have been wearing since my teenage years. The female orthodontist examined me and said that there was something wrong with my biting and that I should get a bite corrector (also known I think as orthodontic trainer). She reassured me that this would solve all my problems. About three months into wearing this corrector, I noticed that gaps were growing between my teeth, with increasing remains of food getting stuck in between; I went to complain and she then told me that the corrector did not fit my teeth perfectly because of a slanted tooth-grow at the far end of my lower teeth. I told her that she should have told me at the time that she ordered this corrector and that she should have explained the consequences so that I could have made an informed decision. She kept insisting, however, that the bite corrector was the best option for me and that I had to bear the consequences if my biting was to be corrected properly. I was unhappy with the situation- first for not having been told in the first place that the corrector did not fit me perfectly; second that this would result in widening gap and third for not having received any apology- so I went to another orthodontist, who said that the biting seemed okay (although admitting that it could have been the result of the corrector). The new orthodontist prescribed a set of separate retainers, which I have been wearing alternately with the corrector. The retainer helped reduce the gap. I found the orthodontist at Bayside Prima Dental really unprofessional and would not recommend anyone to go there.

That being said I don't know what it's like to go to a normal dentist where things aren't always a little bit crazy. Dr. D'Oria is great and super nice, and Dr. Portnoy makes you feel at ease when your mouth is loaded up with dental tools, he'll ask you how your life is going and save you the trouble of speaking by answering for you! He'd even do some cartoon voices when I was a kid. Unlike other kids I knew growing up, I *loved* going to the dentist because of how fun their office is. They put up decorations in the waiting room for Halloween and Christmas, and you can even watch a DVD while getting your teeth drilled! But it's not just the dentists that are great, all of the staff are very nice and fun loving people. I give them an 11/10: I will be their patient forever.
