Dr. Donofrio is the reason why people are stigmatized in mental health care, and afraid to talk…read moreabout needing help. I moved here a few months ago and recently ran out of a prescription for anti-anxiety meds that I have been taking for over seven years. After waiting a week to get in with her, she refused to renew my prescription because she personally didn't care for the medication I have been using, even though my previous doctor had established that it is effective for me. -- Instead, she shamed me and referred me to a behavioral health clinic, inferring that I was "crazy" and possibly with criminal intent for wanting a prescription refill. She made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed, for asking to refill a basic anti-anxiety medication, that has never been an issue to refill in the past. -- Also, I've put on a few extra pounds (about 15 over the average for my height and weight) -- I asked if she had any recommendations to help with that and she said SURGERY would be safer than trying anything other than exercise and reducing calories. She actually recommended surgery for help losing 15 pounds!!! When I started to question that, she gave me a print out for a restriction diet that another doctor there uses, which basically said to eliminate everything except raw food. Of course you'll lose weight of you do that. But, anyone with a brain who can do basic research knows that initially you'll lose water weight, and after, the second you eat "normal" food again, you'll gain everything back. -- Doctor Donofrio is a quack who is hell bent on her own agenda, and doesn't care about what you actually need for your health if it conflicts with her personal feelings. She should not be allowed to practice medicine. If you want actual, legit, medical help -- and not to be made to feel bad for needing it, go ANYWHERE else!
