At my first visit,…read moreDr G yelled at me for about five minutes in the presence of his Office Manager and a Dental Hygienist regarding my bite pattern and that he knew everything about me from Dr Benson's referral. I was not impressed but due to the fact that I was unaware of any other periodontists in this area, I allowed him to begin treatment for replacement of my current prosthesis. He quoted a price of $20k for a zirconium hybrid device - 50% higher than any other dental professional in Vero Beach. Again, I felt that I was very limited in my options. After he had examined my current prosthesis, I requested a treatment plan for the process. His staff seemed surprised by this request. In fact the Office Manager (Jubee sp?) asked me what were the contents of such a document. I think a respectable dental office should be well aware of the contents of a treatment plan...and the reasonableness of such request. During this time, my fiancé learned she had the Bracha gene, congenitally. Her sister had died of Leukemia, three years previously. This trauma had a lasting effect on Wanda. She had moved from her home in Boone, NC to take care of her sister, and was present at her death. In April, 2018, my fiancé had a double mastectomy. As one might imagine, the out-of-pocket costs were enormous. Her insurance did not begin to cover them, so I elected to cover them...more than $30K. I'm retired, with a modest pension plus Social Security. Thus, we found ourselves in a financial situation. Dr. G informed me that we could work out a payment plan, for which I was appreciative. At this time, my fiancé underwent restorative surgery. Again, insurance paid a small portion of the costs. I contacted the office to schedule an appointment. At the same time I asked if the Treatment Plan I had requested months earlier was ready for my perusal? No answer was When I arrived, and was sitting in the chair, the Office Manager asked me about my ability to finance the new hybrid - which embarrassed and humiliated me. Why would office staff question my ability to pay? Especially since Dr G and I had already reached an agreement! After two visits, there was no Treatment Plan, nor was there a temporary hybrid for me to try. At least, none was presented to me to determine fit. At this time I had paid Dr Gurklis &14,000. At the very least, I had the right to expect a detailed Treatment Plan and a test hybrid to gauge fit. Due to the fact that every time I visited Dr Gurklis' office I was questioned by either the Office Mgr or a Dental Assistant about my financial situation, it was apparent that my payments were more important to his office than the progress toward my hybrid. After weeks of this treatment, I informed his staff that I would no longer continue treatment. I cannot believe this conduct would be approved by the Florida Dental Association. As such, I cannot in good faith recommend this practice.

    If I could give Dr.Ferres and her office 20 stars, I would. I have had extensive dental work…read morethroughout my life and have never met a more knowledgeable and caring dentist. I have been seeing Dr.Ferres for over a decade and every single visit I'm impressed with her and the entire staff from reception to hygienist and assistants. So much so that I've recommended everyone I know who is looking for a dentist. Even my father who went 10+ years without seeing a dentist due to fear loves going to the dentist now. If you are looking for a dentist who is meticulous, gentle, and an extremely competent and kind office staff, this is the office for you!

    I have only written a handful of Yelp reviews over the years, I save it for the worst of the worst…read more Well, I had a horrible experience at this office with my disabled Marine Corps Veteran father two days ago. Dentist appointments already give my dad PTSD as he has Parkinson's which is strongly linked and largely caused by toxic environmental exposures like mercury fillings, root canals, co-infections, etc. Well, we had to reschedule his teeth cleaning multiple times because two months prior, poor guy, he fell and fractured his hip. When I tried to reschedule it a few weeks after he fell, Dr. Ferres' receptionist refused to make the appointment claiming my dad needed to be on antibiotics post-surgery to have a dental procedure, yes, even for a teeth cleaning, and to get a waiver from his surgeon (just think about that for a minute - a holistic dentist office is saying they won't see my dad for a teeth cleaning unless he's on antibiotics, a person who you know to be neurologically fragile, and you want to further disrupt his gut microbiome?! That was already a red flag). When we talked to his surgeon about getting a "waiver" from him for a teeth cleaning, he scoffed and was like, no, that's not a thing. So when I called to make this appointment for a second time with this same obstructionist receptionist, it was already long overdue. He needs to get regular teeth cleanings, every 3 months, because due to Parkinson's he has difficulty cleaning his own teeth, and we are trying to prevent any further dental complications. The receptionist told me that they had a cancellation for the next afternoon at 4pm. I said, well that's a tricky time for my dad with his nap and his meds, getting him moving again. She replied there were no other appointments until late January. I said, ok, we'll do our best to get him there on time. We were on our way, it was 4:05pm, the receptionist calls and says, if you aren't here by 4:15pm we will have to reschedule. I said, we will be there. Well, we hit every red light, and so it was 4:20 when we walked up to the office door, at which point this crazy receptionist is rushing the door to BLOCK us from entering. "You can't come in here, I told you on the phone that if you weren't here by 4:15pm, you would have to reschedule." I said, calmly, "My dad is disabled. It is very difficult for us right now with his hip fracture to get him moving." Mind you, this person is well aware of our circumstance. We were in route when she called, it's not like we were randomly late, she knows he has Parkinson's, knows that he has had to reschedule this appointment multiple times due to his recent hip surgery, we don't have a history of lateness, and she offered ZERO grace. I was appalled. She literally kicked us out of the office, didn't let us put a toe in, calling out after us, "We have a business to run." Like I said, we were in route, we had extenuating circumstances that she knew about, and WE WERE THE LAST APPOINTMENT OF THE DAY. It's not like it was 10am and there were multiple appointments to follow. The waiting room was EMPTY. I am shocked, saddened, and horrified at the deep disconnect between this person's sense of "business" over patient accommodation and well-being. So, I say, AVOID. A doctor who has someone with such poor interpersonal skills running her office, who would discriminate like this against a disabled veteran by refusing to make accommodation for his Parkinson's, a man who dedicated his life to service, family, and his community, at Christmas time no less, over being a few minutes late, is not deserving of your business. Shame.
