As a Mexican, born and raised in Mexico, I can say these tamales are legit. Leticia, "The Lady", is a wonderful woman who came to NYC long time ago. She can speak a bit of English, and is very willing to try. She makes the tamales at home (I recently had to unexpectedly visit her place to pick up an order of 15 tamales and I could see her kitchen is neat). Sometimes they also also prepare Mexican food but that´s just for clients. Ask for her phone number and she´ll tell you more details. Needless to say, I´ve had some "tamale trips" looking for the best tamales in NYC. Out of around 10 shops/stands, these were my favorite. Support your local empowered tamale seller!

I stopped there this evening for a simple order of three chicken tacos with all the trimmings. Their salsa verde is not too hot but, just like all of the food, it's so flavorful.
