I recently stayed here for a conference, and I would give it a 4 overall!! It was an excellent experience with great customer service and amenities. From the moment we walked in, there was a beverage station with infused water and plenty of candy (which we happily ingested, despite the fact that it was about 4am our time). The check-in process was very efficient overall with a great explanation of the hotel amenities and excellent restaurant recommendations.
The room had 2 twin beds which is pretty standard in Europe, but it was spacious and nicely equipped. There were a few drawbacks however - although there was a nice Nespresso coffee machine, it didn't work, and there was no iron in the room. When I called to request one, I was told that ironing could be done for a charge, but they could not provide one to guests. The internet/Wifi was working adequately and was included in the cost of our stay.
A few other issues - I was put in a room directly across from the elevators, which I hate, because 24 hours a day there is noise from the elevator, not to mention that my room was also directly across from a busy meeting area. Furthermore, although the rooms are supposed to be sound-proof, after staying there for 4 nights, I did not have a single night's rest, as not only did I hear everything in the hotel going on, but there was apparently a lengthy festival going on all week, so I heard individuals partying in the streets all night long, and very loudly, with music, parades and drums.
The hotel itself is located in a nice area right across from the L'Illa shopping centre, and close to the Metro station. There are restaurant options nearby, but the better and more popular ones are located farther away. In regards to nearby attractions, you either have to walk or take the Metro, which most choose to do.
The hotel is equipped with a great gym, with 2 stationary bikes, an elliptical machine, 1 treadmill, and free weights. It is a very small space for multiple people to be in at once, but luckily I went early. The hours state 7am-10pm, although I was there much earlier than 7 and was able to enter. There is also a nice pool and lounge area, although the pool is unusual in that it is a small strip.
The food in the hotel was good, but not exceptional. The breakfast buffet has the 'standard' continental fare with the addition of local specialties and was included in the price of my room, from 7am-9am. We also had catering for our conference with breakfast and lunch, which was more tapas style. My colleagues and I had drinks at the bar on the patio outside, which was nice, but overpriced ($12 Euro for a Bloody Mary).
Overall, I was very pleased with the stay, and I would recommend this particular hotel as an excellent conference and business setting. read more
