Okay, so let's get real about my hair. It's a nightmare. I have thick, wavy, coarse and long hair. Frankly, it's a hair stylist's nightmare. Never in my life have I had a hairstylist more eager and willing to work with the tangled mop on my head, than Kendall. She is honestly such a gem in this town, and I'm constantly trying to refer clients to her. I've had two colors done by her now, and I'm always so pleased to see the results. She makes me love my hair, and I've truly been showered with compliments about it. Not only that, but she's always taken the time to help answer any questions that I may have about my hair, and helped provide me with product information pertinent to maintaining color and composure of my hair for as long as possible. It's extremely clear that Kendall is more than knowledge in her field, but also passionate and creative. I wish I could take her wherever we end up after Columbus!!! read more

My son got a haircut here last week. Apparently it was the barber's first day on the job and had no idea what he was doing. My son asked for a simple fade. The haircut was so bad that the owner had to step in halfway through the service to "fix" it. However i am not sure what fixing was done. Back of hair is completely uneven and there is a huge chunk of hair missing. Not sure what type of training these peeps had but I would recommend getting a men's cut elsewhere! read more

I went there for a haircut and was pretty disappointed. Everyone there was very nice and the place itself was clean. I needed a layered cut and I wanted bangs. The layers were fine but the bangs were uneven and too short. I don't want to say who the stylist was but she'd been one long enough to know how wonky they looked. She was trying to fix it but I was rushed out of the chair when her next client showed up which was not a great feeling. Overall not a great experience. read more

I recently moved to Columbus and had a haircut by Rachel at Salon NG. I have to say that it was the best haircut I've ever had. Not only did Rachel cut my hair, but she trimmed my eyebrows and touched up spots with a straight razor. I appreciate the time and effort that Rachel spent with me. Salon NG is by far my favorite salon in Columbus. The staff here is amazing, Tatum Norris (the salon owner) is as skilled with color as she is with cutting. I was recommended to Salon NG by a girl friend who has been seeing Tatum for years. Her hair ALWAYS looks amazing so I knew I would be in great hands. I'm only giving this 3 stars because I don't think the place should be rated solely on one person. The atmosphere was great but my hair stylist did a terrible job. I asked for a line and she messed one side up but "didn't see it" she told me that someone must have taken a chunk out before her. Right... She had to cut it even shorter to even it out and since I've been trying to grow my hair out, I am very upset about that. She also did a terribly choppy job on the back and my hairline is now far from even.... I am sure there are good hairdressers there but mine was not impressive. read more

I get a high skin tight razor fade, and anyone who likes their hair this style knows how difficult it is to find a barber who can deliver this. Moving to Columbus I was super nervous on where I was going to find a place who could cut my hair correctly. I suffered one set back at my first place I tried out (Not Salon NG) but then found Brandon here an NG. Thank goodness! This place is very unique, the right side is your traditional salon where most of the girls work. But the left side is the "Man Cave" equipped with a flat screen TV, pool table and the barbers. I have only received my haircuts from Brandon thus far, but I have paid attention to the other guys getting fades and they all do a good job. Not to mention they sell quality hair and grooming products as well. I used to have to order my pomade online but sure enough, NG sells it. Awesome place! read more

Ever since I moved here I had been looking for the best barbers in town. After getting my hair chopped silly by dozens of "military" barbers I had to change pace. A friend recommended me the NG salon which is split up by barbers and stylist. The barber side is hip and trendy with the old school field and the coolest barbers in town. If you are looking for that perfect comb over, side part, hard part or whatever you can dream up that is the new IN, this is your spot. I recommend calling in for appointments as most all the barbers get booked quick. But it is easy to get on their books every few weeks if you get cut ad often as I do. Price is very reasonable. My Go To Barber is Brandon, the first bro to cut my hair there and my loyalty just stayed with him! read more

I called up looking for a 'cut correction' appointment (sad, terrible layer job earlier this week), and not only did I get an appointment the same day, but they set me up with Jessica, who is wonderful. Really, guys. She's great. I walked in feeling like I wanted to cry about the weird shaggy cut I'd been given elsewhere, which I felt so dumb about, because I'd definitely over paid to boot. I'd asked for a trim and a long layer (underneath), some gentle shaping, and what I got was layers halfway to my ears. I couldn't put it up, bits stuck out everywhere--I mean I'm a long way from being a teenager, if I'd wanted to look like an Olsen twin in one of their 'edgy' phases, I would have asked for it. But I don't know--it's possible I wasn't precise enough, I'm coming from 7 years of the same stylist on Newbury Street in Boston, so it's entirely possible that I was also to blame. But guys, it was bad. So there I am in NG a few days later, super upset about the length I thought I'd have to lose to fix it, and Jessica was, as I said, absolutely great. She evened it out, didn't have to take it much above my shoulder blades, which for me was a huge sigh of relief. I've never had short hair in my life, and I'm just not ready for upheaval like that right now. :) Jessica made sure that I kept some decent volume, fixed the face framing lengths with some precision sectioning, and gave me an expert blowout and some quick waves on top of everything else. By the time I left I was definitely safely back toward the Kate Middleton end of the spectrum and feeling like a million bucks. I know it's just a haircut, but I really, really needed it right then! Jessica also put up with my nervous babbling, which was nothing short of heroic, I know what I sound like in this review if nothing else. ;) Bottom line: Go there, they will take care of you. It was pleasantly busy without being crowded, more than half the patrons knew each other which is a good indicator of a pretty deep client base, and everybody was having a good time. Nice music selection, comfy chairs. Can't speak to coloring, my hair is basically virgin, but everyone I know who goes there for that raves about it.
